Well of those, Bernard is the most respected brewery, but the trouble is that the ale is an attempt to do something different. I dont like "ales" from Czech breweries. But this one is made with craft so hope you enjoy it. Svijany is a good one. The others I havent tried. Check the alcohol content, some will be stronger than a typical Brit lager. Enjoy!
We ended up drinking some other stuff in the end but will bear your comments in mind for the future.
Tenerden beer festival was good.n The village is a loverly place in its our right--old England.
The steam railway station reminded me of long ago where waiting rooms looked inviting. Didnt see the train but it was in and out enough £17 for a trip on it. We always seemed to be in the beer tent when the train was in the station.
Lots of ales ----a good selection on gold beers--went through a good few.
Zinger was there but it tasted like burnt toast !! very different to when i had it in Hythe.
Its a good 30+ plus mins on a bus from Ashford to Tenterden.
Worth a visit i mean real ale and trains ---has to be mecca for Charlton peeps surely ?
got back as the sun was going down in the village and the birds were singing ---all was good in the world
Going past their beer box tomorrow so might try to pick up a couple of bottles.
I've just looked at their prices at the beer box. Wow! You'd be a lot better off ordering/buying them from Waitrose.
IMHO, Meantime quality has gone downhill since they stopped brewing real ale and bottle conditioning (BC) their beers. I think their head brewer has also changed.
A few months ago, I had a 750ml bottle of their London Porter that had been conditioning in my cellar for several years, and it was absolutely delicious. It tasted of chocolate, although that was achieved from the selection of malts - no chocolate in the ingredients. I went and bought a few more bottles, although I noticed that it's no longer BC, and the depth of flavour just wasn't there.
If you do buy it at their beer box, you could point out that they're advertising the size of bottle as 750cl. But if that's really the case, you would have trouble carrying one home on your own. Or buy it from a supermarket at around £5, rather than £9.50.
if you're desperate for Meantime (not that you should be - there are much better beers out there...) you can buy them from M&S.....where if you buy 6 bottles you get 20% off....(personally I prefer the Founders All Day IPA and the Northern Monk IPA and Eternal IPA that M&S sells..) The shop at Blackheath Standard has a good selection of beers to cater for all tastes...all with the 20% off for 6 or more....
Does anyone know where you can buy the Kenyan lager Tusker in SE London or NW Kent? A friend has found it in Southampton so I’m hoping it’s found its way here too.

Thank you.
They have it in Thind Wine Merchants in Sevenoaks.
Can anyone help me with some suggestions please? Every year I run a little beer festival for my mates. Every year there is a theme. This year to be topical, I've decided that the theme will be Brexit. What I'm looking to do is supply beers from the EU and beers from the UK - and for good measure, beers that are neither EU or UK. Part of the fun will be guessing where the various brews came from in a blind taste testing. The difficulty I have is that British beers tend to be distinctively British (no shit, Sherlock) but if it's too easy there's no fun in the game. So, can you suggest any decent British beers that taste continental and, vice versa, continental beers that taste British? Thanks.
Something's going wrong with Charlton Life when the Beer thread has fallen to page 9! I think a few of us could do with a little more beer to help the tone a little. To help with that, the Great British Beer Festival kicks off next Tuesday at Olympia. I'm doing tours of the Festival on Thursday, Friday & Saturday, as a CAMRA volunteer, Master Brewer & Beer Sommelier! Hope to see a few Charlton fans there, and I'll report back on some of the highlights. Got to say Wiper & True are floating my boat currently.
Enjoyed a few pints of Whitstable Brewery's Oyster Stout this weekend.
Nice stuff.
I've always stuck to the Pilsner and Raspberry Wheat Beer over there before as I've been on the piss and they are easy drinking, but for a more leisurely drink the Oyster Stout was definitely nicer.
Went to Wild Card Brewery in Walthamstow the other week, 'Queen of Diamonds' IPA was so good - they're releasing a new pilsner this week apparently, had all the kit ready to go a couple of weekends ago.

Had a nice Black IPA the other day
Beer
Ever
...I'll eat my hat. It'd be preferable to drinking the Kindl Weisse.
Seriously, I had an even worse version of it last night. Wish I could bring you a bottle to enjoy a worst beer taste-off!
