i have on a pool table its alot easier over the pocket or away from it. I will give it a go on a snooker table at some point as a i want to get back into snooker, the last few years my main focus has been pool, now i am up to speed and the required standard i can go back to snooker and hopefully it should help. Could be interesting.
Thanks Clive, i am looking forward to this world champs. I predict a few shocks (Standard), high quality, recently it feels like alot of the top guns are on form so its very open.
Ronnie, good draw but will be surprised (pleasantly if he makes Semis +, its possible but i dont feel he is that interested at present. Trump is probably the man to beat, he does have some weird results though so hard one to back.
My list: Robbo Wilson Yan Bingtao EW Maguire EW Davis small ew Craigie ew
Predicted first round winners: Ronnie Yan Bingtao Maguire Robertson Bingham Kyren Wilson Allen Carter Walden Higgins Williams( Craigie can win this one but i feel percentage game MJW wins if he is playing well) Murphy Hawkins Trump Selby Gilbert
only a few seeds there but i do feel there could be anything from 3-6 shocks there
I'm not sure Clive's draw is correct. This is what I've seen.
Ronnie O’Sullivan (1) vs Mark Joyce Ricky Walden vs Anthony McGill (16) Ding Junhui (9) vs Stuart Bingham Jamie Jones vs Stephen Maguire (8)
John Higgins (5) vs Tian Pengfei Sam Craigie vs Mark Williams (12) Mark Allen (13) vs Lyu Haotian Kurt Maflin vs Mark Selby (4)
Neil Robertson (3) vs Liang Wenbo Ali Carter vs Jack Lisowski (14) Barry Hawkins (11) vs Matthew Selt Gary Wilson vs Kyren Wilson (6)
Shaun Murphy (7) vs Mark Davis Martin Gould vs Yan Bingtao (10) David Gilbert (15) vs Chris Wakelin Liam Highfield vs Judd Trump (2)
I think you have the same draw just wrote down different order, his one is by quarter. I cant spot any mistake with either
The quarters are as per this draw and the BBC order that Clive put up.
Anyway, I reckon the seeds to fall in round 1 will be McGill, Ding, Lisowski and Gilbert.
Decent shouts for the seeds to lose, i think lisowski feels like he needs to play his best as Carter is in good form. Ding again tough draw with Bingham who is also in good form. Gilbert and Mcgill both not in great form and there for the taking, not far off my underdog bet i think.
Happy crucible day! Very interesting (bad) opening frame in ROS v Joyce. After a few shots they changed the white, both missing alot of chances and no control over the white ball. Looks like the table is lightning and they can't get the pace, good to see fans back (33%)
This Higgins v Tian session is interesting if only because of the amount of errors in it. Just when someone gets on top in the frame they mess up their shot selection or miss a sitter.
A group of us did a snooker sweepstake in the week just for a bit of fun. Everyone three players each... of course i went to the trouble of organising it and got Liang Wenbo, Chris Wakelin and Anthony McGill!
O'Sullivan looked pretty good. Ended with three tons.
In the end he did, first sessions was awful and i could have competed with them both.
I have been watching just dont really go on here the weekend much, Ronnie has a toughie next Mcgill was in top form against Walden so Ronnie needs to turn up really. I was impressed with Wilson last night too (Kyren) Cracking game from both but as he seems to do he seems to pick up just when he needed too 5-1 down to go 7-5 up.
Sunday night they made a mistake having 2 sessions to end and both finished early, hate it when that happens and seems to happen alot. Enjoying the Worlds so far, pretty good standard

Mcgill is capable, tough game next but wouldn't be a shock winner against Ronnie if Ronnie doesn't play well.

Nice to see Carter go out, i am not a fan of him. Felt like both him and Lisowski gave each other quite a few chances.
I feel a bit for Ding there, Bingham probably slightly deserved it but such a big error when in the balls in the last frame made 45 but left Bingham a chance, a very good clearance under alot of pressure. I do think half the people predicted Bingham would win.
Selt yesterday, its amazing how some of the balls he pots then misses the easy ones (loss of focus), he has always had the game but where he suffers alot... saftey, i cant think of a worse player on the tour for safties, if he sorted that side out.. ok and didn't make silly mistakes he would be a top player lol
At 7-7 Ding missed a dead straight black off the spot to go 70 up with 67 on. I was surprised he won another frame after that. It's a shame because I think he is top class but doesn't seem to quite have the bottle to win a world title. Selby was awesome v Maflin, the best I have seen him play since he last won it. This is shaping up to be a great tournament because all the top players, apart from Higgins, look like they are in good nick.

Agreed, it wouldn't be a surprise if Ding turns up one year to win as he has the game but doesn't appear the bottle, fantastic player / break builder but i do feel Yan Bingtao is more likely as he showed with the Masters he can do it against the big players and in deciders, also it feels like he has a more all round game.
Selby, i didn't watch all but quite a bit of it. Agreed superb performance and will take some stopping playing like that, he looks back to his best and we all know if the going gets tough, Selby will come out on top.
Personally it feels like the strongest last 16 i can remember, only 2 non seeds coming through, one which is Bingham so would be considered a top player and Jones who potentially fits a top 16 player. So far its been pretty decent quality, although a few one sided games but its tough for the qualifiers when they come up against the best and also the crucible factor.
Predicted quarter finalists Mcgill (i am hoping Ronnie will prove me wrong here, after the first round i just feel ROS wont get away with a bad session so needs to be in top form to win) Bingham Williams Selby Robbo Wilson Yan Bingtao Trump
I got a cheeky 8fold in the first round, turns out i picked the one sided ones, Yan, Robbo, Gilbert, Higgins, Wilson, Allen, Hawkins, Williams 7/1
I have gone for a underdog one today partly to soften the blow if Ronnie loses... Mcgill, Davis (Murphy), Williams. Outrights not dead : Robbo, Wilson, Yan Bingtao, Davis (small punt but 200/1) lost outright: Craigie
