Brilliant performance from Hendry, looked as if he had never been away from the table
Century in frame 2
And still managed to lose 4-1
No fault of his own tho as he barely put a foot wrong, at one point Selt was 6/6 on long pot success and during the 4th frame his pot success was 98% probably finished either 97% or 98% thats Trump levels of play, literally unplayable.
Hope it doesn't dishearten Hendry because he did look great in amongst the balls and there were a few cracking long pots himself.
Agree, the scoreline doesn't tell the picture really. Just Selt played his top game, when he does that he can compete with the best of them. I did say it felt like he could have got an easier draw.
Firstly was so happy he got a century, a decent one too! Shame no fans were there to witness it as that would have been such a moment, he played well, just one of the matches he didn't do alot wrong. Fingers crossed he will have another shot or try to qualify for the Worlds, he is the sort of person this will either drive him on or he will just leave it here imo, hopefully its the former. Respectable performance, also credit to Selt who had to be the party pooper but played so well.

Selt was very solid. Hendry looked, better than the last couple of seasons before he retired. I dont think he would have made a comeback unless he thought he could compete at this level. He did miss a couple of long reds and his safety wasnt good enough, one easy safety in particular was really poor. He will have to improve on that. Overall I would think he'd be pleased with how he played.
Thanks for the updates/ schedule Clive. Feels like a proper tournament best of 19, although admittedly only 8 players.
Nice to see Ronnie playing well, i missed the first session as was out having a walk and didn't realise. He still wasn't happy, shock so not sure if he will explode or if he can focus. Higgins is always a huge test for his mentality so the fact he won that, he must have a reasonable chance.
Today could be a cracker, although i can half see Robertson running away with it if he plays how he can. Lisowski is getting more consistent though so wont be taken lightly, i predict 10-5 Robbo
Selby v Wilson today, very tough to call. Both battlers but also can play if they need too, or decide to open up. I am going to go Selby wins based on recent form 10-8, although it could go either way. I would favour Kyren if it was a shorter race, but Selby just doesn't give easy frames away so unless he is on his top game its going to be a slog.
I generally could flip a coin, or change my mind. Hoping its a proper battle as it should be. Both more than capable of hitting ton after ton, i just feel this is the closest you will get to a proper good tactical/safety game with the current crop
Selby leads 6-2 at the end of the afternoon session, i didn't realise that Wilson has never beaten Selby, too late to alter my prediction.
I actually thought it was more even, then i checked it earlier and remembered. I can see why, Wilson although is a great player he often out battles people, noone can out battle Selby. So really he has to hope Selby doesn't turn up or he is literally in top gear too win. Still was an interesting battle and not done and dusted yet, Wilson like Selby has a never say die attitude. So i wouldn't back against him getting the first couple then it might be game on...
Stephen Hendry v Jimmy White, in the world championship qualifiers !
Feels rigged, Jimmy actually finding a bit of form so more chance one of them will make it now. Dont mind either way, although it would be great to see Hendry back and in reasonable form.
Well it certainly wasn't the battle i was expecting, it had moments. Admittedly i didn't tune in until too late last night so i missed it.
Trump 10-5 , be nice to see a shock here though.. purely as i think Trump is the one player who has Ronnies number. Also Barry plays semi local, where i play Kent Pool so another reason to slightly support him.
