When was the last time KP won us a game? At his best he maybe justified the effort it took dealing with his personality, but it was always a little bit open to debate these days it's a no brainer IMHO, time to ditch him and move on even it's a perceived weakening of the team in the long run.
There's no real brilliant talents in this side anymore, certainly not in the way it was when Vaughan was captain, so it's imperative team spirit is as high as possible, for that reason alone surely KP has to go? If we carry on playing like a bunch of individuals that hate each other, their job and cricket then we'll get embarrassed by worse teams then these Aussies.

Last game he won for us was in India last year with that big ton in Mumbai and he arguably saved the Old Trafford Test with his hundred there too, although the rain helped as well.
Clearly something has to give, either KP goes or he stays and plays a much bigger role in the team as VC, it can't stay as it is with him in this twilight zone of senior player at-a-distance.
To be honest, unless you really know the ins and outs of it and know both sides (and I hear different things from different people) then its impossible to come to a proper conclusion.
I suppose the only consolation is that Paul Downton played in some England sides that were themselves whitewashed (blackwashed would be the more accurate term!) so has dealt with this before!
Cook has lost the plot. Both as a batsman and a captain where he "ambulance chases" rather than trying to be proactive and put some pressure on the Aussie batsmen.
To be fair to Chris Jordan he has bowled well. As for the rest.......
Indeed and the rest are just a different permutation of the half-fit and/or half-hearted bunch we've witnessed for the last 6 weeks. Jordan's decent effort only puts that into sharper perspective tbh.
EDIT:................add half-arsed to the equation.
Women's cricket is so poor they cannot even hit the pitch. One of our bowlers was banned from bowling in the innings because she couldn't stop bowling high full tosses. That is one of our elite. Sexist or not women's cricket is awful.
Why were kids playing in a men's competition? Because they or their coaches or probably their parents thought they were better than they were I guess. Well hopefully they've learnt their lesson.
Just heard an interview with Jos Buttler. He is a very eloquent and knowledgeable young man, far more coherent than the rather humming and hawing, erring and ahhing Captain Cook. England needs a new captain and to restore Cook to the role he is made for .. BATTING. This is early days of course. There are few if any candidates in line for Cook's job. Could Buttler be the man ?. He should forget wicketkeeping, concentrate on his batting and go for all the strategic/man management advice that the Somerset skipper Trescothick can give as well as (say) someone like Vic Marks. Buttler: Next England Cricket Skipper .. you read it here first
and a gut feeling .. have you any better candidates ? and don't please tell me that Cook is a good captain and/or he will grow into the job .. a new skipper, coaching structure/manager is needed and none of the facefitters and time servers need apply .. give me Angus Fraser, Dominic Cork and Trescothick (for example) .. lots of new brooms both in the team and in the support structure .. things can only get better, they can surely get no worse .. get rid of the bowling coaches, Gooch ... sack the lot .. and while we're at it ... a message for the BBC .. Boycott boycott and Blofeld must be retired
Cook is clueless as a skipper. There is too much going on in the background with a cast of thousands all trying to prove they have done something.Lets see what they have done, played a man with known (to them ) head problems, over seen a batting order that some one waking up from a coma would have thought they had never held a bat. There have always been issues with Gooch s man management,if you dont buy in to 6am route marches you are in trouble. The bowling, a year or so ago we had more top class bowlers than we could shake a stick at.They have been collectively destroyed by the coaches,Finn on his way home,Swann jacked it.We knew the conditions would nt suit Jimmy that well and maybe Broad was big enough not to take any notice of the coach? Panesar picked and left kicking his heels at long leg whilst a part timer gets a bowl! The whole shooting match is terminally flawed. I think a wholesale clear out needed and a new start.

Especially if we have a chance of winning :-)
