Do the reminiscence class still meet? Have they been involved in any way.
Not as far as I know but we have been talking to the Former Players Association.
The idea of reminiscence groups either at the Valley or on-line is part of the long term plan but I mean long term.
The idea of the Museum has been around for many years and as said it has always been a project Mick Everett wanted to get done. The opportunity came along when a space became available recently so in some ways it was a case of striking when the iron was hot.
Cheers. Was just wondering when the classes were held were certain memories documented? Threads on here like people's accounts of their day of the play off final are a great read. Was wondering if anything could be put together from people who witnessed other notable days in our history.
Is it not possible for a group of the great and the good to decide which items they really think should be in the Museum and raise funds for those items? Someone can go and bid for these items and be given a bidding ceiling by the Trustees. I would be willing to loan some money interest free for a period up to 10 months say if it meant we could preserve these items for the Museum.
I can't really say anything more about the CC collection other than we are in communication with relevant people and we are hopeful. Sorry but going to have to leave it at that for the time being.
In an ideal world the Museum would be well established, we'd have both a large acquisition fund and a legacy policy but we are still an embryonic organisation and have to deal with what we have and where we are.
We couldn't take money on an interest free basis as we can't guarantee that we will be able to re-pay that in 10 months time. And unglamorous as it may seem security cameras, alarms and tailor's dummies etc etc are what we need now. Steve Brown has loaned us his play-off final shirt but to display so as many fans as possible can see it we need that tailor's dummy and the display cases.
Do you have people that are writing to large stores such as M&S asking if they could donate a tailors dummy?
No, but we have joined the Museum's Association as often you can get hold of kit when other museums have a re-fit and we have people from Greenwich Heritage and Bexley Archives on our advisory board.
But if anyone know someone at M&S or Top Shop etc...
Ive got this live bid thing on... Perry Groves shirt just sold for 9,000!! this is really interesting. Be a while yet before Colin's stuff come son, they are only at 654 now i think and he starts 850 or near.
