this a million % good to see the trust acting to fans needs
One of the aims when putting the Museum board of Trustees together was to have a range of skills and contacts so of course there is someone from the Football Club, The Fans' Forum and the Supporters' Trust among others.
Ken from Bexley is both a Museum Trustee and a member of the board of the CAS Trust. And he brings his design and photography skills from his years at the BBC.
of course CAS Trust isn't technically a Trust but this seems to be the word adopted in the movement - we are not a charity, rather a community mutual/Industrial Provident society
I just think its brilliant that the trust have pushed this forward it was what I was saying , Show us what you have done really put it out there, Didn't realise ken had such contacts, maybe Plaaayer can get ITV involved abit with his exec contacts there, its strange him and Ken haven't crossed paths in a business sense
With the Charlton Athletic Museum being a Charitable Trust it has to make sure that as much Gift Aid is used, rather than wasted with donations, because I'm sure most of the money being put toward auctions and fundraising will come from taxpayers
Just to be clear and to avoid confusion we at CAS Trust fully support the museum and on top of that have one or two enthusiasts for this idea (including myself) - which was mooted way back when we first looked at fan consultation last year.
We cannot however take credit for it reaching that stage, altho one of our number Ken (Liaison Officer) has helped bring this forward through being a Trustee.
We did at one stage propose that CAS Trust assist with the financial side of things however it was decided by the Museum Trustees that they preferred this to be a separate entity, which is fine, and CAS Trust are more than willing to assist in any way we can to promote it, or indeed anything else if within our power.
Although its one more Trust for people to remember, it is probably better that it is a 'separate' body for charitable status etc.
The real thanks for getting this off the ground - particularly with his persistence in getting the Board to support the use of the North Stand for the museum is Mick Everitt - along with a generous donation in helping to move it forward.

Henry - I'm not sure how much we collectively managed to raise for sponsoring shirts this season, but couldn't we do a special CL donation exercise to raise funds for the museum - maybe even raise enough to have a pop at the Colin Cameron collection? It's ok to make individual donations but, collated and presented as a CL donation, our individual contributions would make a tidy sum and it would give it a collective identity. I guess not many of us have the means to bankroll a whole collection but together we just might.

Davo and solidgone, its a good idea but I fear the Colin Cameron auction has come too soon. And even if we raise the estimated prices, bidding could take the items much higher. Crucially, before we spend money on buying new items we really need to fit out the space we have been given. It is gut wrenching seeing some of that stuff go to dealers etc but we can't buy every item that comes on the market. That's not a criticism of the family for selling it by the way. As I said before I hope they get a good price for what is their stuff.
The shirt sponsorship raised around £3k over roughly three months so even if we had the same response we would be short of the amount needed. Individuals have helped in the past to buy cup final medals etc so I hope we can have that support again.
We are going to look at the "Friends of" idea and the gift aid idea suggested above and we've already had big and small donations from some fans' group. We even got £175 from Nat West Bank for taking so long to set up our bank account ; - )
AFKA has been very helpful in allowing the Museum to use CL to hold auctions but I personally think that for the time being we should hold it at that. I am very conscious that we ask a lot of the members here and on other boards (if anyone uses or runs other boards can you post links etc there, thanks)
Of course individuals are more than welcome to donate cash and we've also had some fantastic offer of items to loan/donate from Lifers.
Do the reminiscence class still meet? Have they been involved in any way.
Not as far as I know but we have been talking to the Former Players Association.
The idea of reminiscence groups either at the Valley or on-line is part of the long term plan but I mean long term.
The idea of the Museum has been around for many years and as said it has always been a project Mick Everett wanted to get done. The opportunity came along when a space became available recently so in some ways it was a case of striking when the iron was hot.
now added to our new features menu on http://castrust.org and hopefully clear it is separate.. if not there might be a better slot for it just didn't want it 'lost' a bit in the hub area

CAS Trust have a few items we'd like to loan in too

BTW: its Mick (not Rick his namesake) that's involved I believe
