Better well done Charlton. Covered End were fantastic tonight, it's a cliche I know, but 12 th man and all that. Now we move on. 3 points Saturday and the Charlton world may begin to look a lot brighter
That was really, really good. I go into some detail in my player marks so I won't say much here except that if we play like that every week the idea of Charlton's relegation will be a faintly risible phantom in the jaded fantasies of a Millwall fan.
Andy Reid put on a show, mind. Surely one of the best players in the division.
Now that's why I sit in the Covered End......singing just got louder after freak cross-goal from Reidy, which knocked a few players. Cousins ran his socks off regardless and Wood was as solid as his name suggests.....thankfully the rest if the team joined in 2nd half and but for some woeful finishing we'd have beaten a very good Champ side.
Felt more like the real Charlton tonight. COYA!!!!!
Thought the worse after that early goal ,but credit to the boys they really gave it a go, i thought the attitude by all was superb lets keep the momentum going on saturday.
Reid is a class player and carries quality round with him.
Hamer caught out of position for the goal but only someone like Reid could have stuck the quality of ball in like that
Wilson had a great game, we had the full set of idiot charlton fans on display tonight giving him shit.
Stephens and cousins also stood out and once we settled down we looked very good. We should have won, had some solid penalty claims which a lot of referees would have given and just a bit of poor luck in front of goal.
In short once we got the ball down and kept it we were the better side
Should have won but we didn't take our chances. Cousins MOTM and has to start each game - only mistake was to give away the free kick which Reid scored from(was it a cross or shot?). Piggott struggled again and seems too lightweight for this level. Cracking support tonight! Played some excellent football at times and stopped hoofing it. Hope the same 11 start on Saturday - hope CP doesn't tinker with the lineup.
Loved it. Especially second half. Tactics and formation spot on. Harriott behind the front two was semi successful but a great idea. Second half was fantastic to watch. If Hurch took one of his three pretty clear chance we'd have all three points.
A fantastic performance tonight from a team that deserved 3 points. Plenty of heart and passion from the lads ... and the players were good as well.
Well done the north stand , you didn't relent in your support from start to finish , you can be proud of yourselves , keep that up on Saturday and i hope you get your just deserts with 3 points.
Tonight felt like a win , without the points to show for it , i haven't enjoyed a game like that at the Valley for ages , the brown paper bag was truly off for the evening , and if theres more of this coming down the line , i'm in.
I felt so relaxed watching this game , i just felt we were going to win , some cracking performances individually and as a collective unit, well done lads , and thankyou for a very enjoyable evening.
Must add ...
After the goal going in early doors in the first half , i feared a landslide coming , the boys did really well to fight it and come back stronger.
Was expecting the worse but was really pleasantly surprised. We played some lovely football at times and our work rate ( Sordell Apart ) was second to none. There was only one team that was going to win the game in the second half which makes it all the more puzzling why Powell took off Harriot for Devite late on. Wood and Wilson were the pick of the team but all the midfield had good games . Not sure what Hamer was doing when they were showing him videos of what Reid can do. He must have been asleep as he was when the free kick was taken . Well done to the fans for getting behind the team and Powelly. I think it made a big difference . Great atmosphere .
Shocking start that, couldn't touch the ball for ten minutes. Thought we were knackered at that point I can't lie. Never thought at that point that we would be unlucky to not get three points! However the support never wavered and the goal didn't break the "Chrissy Powell's red army" chant. Quality stuff. And if it wasn't clear where the fans lie then the loud "Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell, Chrissy Powell" certainly did. Well done all at The Valley.
Solly will struggle to get back in this side at the moment, I thought Wilson played very very well.
Impressed with Wood today, no nonsense stuff.
I thought we set up 4-3-1-2. 3 cm's and Harriott behind the strikers. This formation really worked, it freed up the full backs and allowed them to have such an influence on the game.
With regards tore CM's, sign Cousins up on a longer deal. Class. Stephens is also showing what he is capable of which is promising, more of that Stevo! And Gower did his job, broke play up and kept the ball ticking. Superb cameo from Hughesy, proper stuck in!
It didn't quite happen for Harriott tonight, couldn't quite sort his feet out on occasions. But had a couple of nice touches and runs at defender. Solid performance though.
Reallly happy for Sordell, proper poachers goal and hopefully it sets him up for scoring more goals now. A lot of credit for Wilson though, I thought he was going to shoot and t was going to hit me in the north upper, but he played a great ball. Church slightly ineffective but he never gives up and played a nice couple of flicks to get people to run on too.
Fair play to Reidy, who I think is an absolutely class act, for not celebrating (stood out for forest along with their number 25, the CB) and also fair play to Billly Davies for his post-match comments, it's not often you hear such praise from an opposing manager, I respect that.
Overall one very happy addick, well done players, fans and staff at The Valley tonight. You all did a fantastic job. Also, after having a quick skim of the match thread, well done RM and others, the thread accurately represented the atmosphere of the match.
Fantastic performance and not sure how we didn't win. I just want to see that effort every game though. It shouldn't take 3 defeats to start playing with some passion, urgency, for Stephens to start playing it forward and for our players to start shooting. I had no problem with the shots that were high or wide tonight because it's better than not shooting at all. COYR.
Shocking first half amazing 2nd half; all credit to Powell.
Deserved the win. Should have had more width and got at there full backs who were terrible.
Thought first half was a big improvement on Millwall and Forest did not deserve to be winning. Only weak link seemed to be the strikers complete inability to win a header, but Marvin showed second half what he's about with his foot work.
Cousins is unflapable. Quite striking, for someone so young. I also like the way he talks a lot.
Dale is gifted-such a shame it doesn't quite click for him every game, whether that be due to him or those around him. He impressed me just as much as Reidy tonight.
Very enjoyable night overall and nice not to be out-classed by Forest for a change.
I thought we played well first half and created chances that were not taken. We only lost our way for a while after we drew level and during the Forest corner period. Well done Wilson for that clearance in the first half and Cousins for a foot in in the second. Andy Reid can still open in tin of tuna with that left peg. Hope the Parker Knoll's enjoyed their evening of European tosh as much as I did watching the addicks this evening at headquarters. Fantastic support even after the early setback. Well done to all the diehards.
Posting without reading above. Leaving aside the significance of the game it was a really good football match. A draw was a fair result, because although we had chances late on, and hit the woodwork, Forest might have tucked the game away in the first half with some scary moments, and had a host of dangerous corners which led to some heroic defending from us late on. In a funny way the early Forest goal might have done us a bit of a favour as it relaxed them too much and they underestimated us. The effort from the players was very good, and they still had the ability to do some decent bits and pieces on the ball to show we were no mugs. Hamer should have done much better for their goal. Stevens was classy tonight, Wood dependable, Church very willing, Cousins a good first half hour, and of course clear MOTM for me was Wilson, cleared a certain goal, set up the equaliser, and he played really well throughout. All the players put in a shift, as did the crowd. Tonight was the signed print version of last year's Cardiff oil painting, I expected to lose and was fearful for Chris, tonight reminded me what a good manager he is. My spirits have officially been raised.

A good day for CAFC.
Sir Chris Powell - 100% support.
Reading this reminded me of the highlight of my time back home, that Tuesday night v Cardiff last season. Quality.
Thought that was one of our best home performances since returning to the Championship. We played well in the first half and went up a gear early in the second. The equaliser was richly deserved and we probably ought to have won.
Somebody used the word "battling". There was certainly no shortage of commitment, but there was more to it than that. We played some really decent football at times. What a difference it makes to have three players who can pass and move in central midfield.
Cousins had a big impact on the game and should play regularly. Is Stephens beginning to realise his obvious potential?
Church and Sordell found it hard work up front, but stuck at it and it was good that Sordell got the goal. That could make a big difference to him. It was also nice to see Pigott come on and begin to purge his Millwall experience.
All in all, a very encouraging performance, especially with Kermorgant due to return shortly (I assume).
Finally, I'd like to see Reid's goal again. I'm inclined to think it was just one of those things (fluke or brilliance) and that Hamer, perhaps no more than a foot or two out of position, really couldn't be expected to do much about. Remember Stephens versus Cardiff last season? Happy to be corrected on this.
Can we play all our home matches on Tuesday night please. I think the ref was wearing the wrong colour. The Forest players passed the ball to him a couple of times, really enjoyed the match. I thought the time wasting by them at throw ins and goal kicks reminded me of Barnsley.
In a funny way the early Forest goal might have done us a bit of a favour as it relaxed them too much and they underestimated us.
Agreed, actually. Not that we wouldn't have played well if it had gone over the bar, but I think Forest panicked and lost their shape when we went at them later on
One thing I will say - Chalobah, whilst not fully fit, is absolutely unbelievable for an 18 year old. Him in England's midfield with Wilshere pulling the strings is going to be tasty.
That said - Chelsea rate him at £20m so what price Cousins
Good players make the game look easy. That's exactly what both of these boys did tonight
I wonder whether Solly played the start of the season with an injury and also Yann could have been subbed of when limping rather than risk a bigger impact to the ankle. That's what not having options does I guess, adds pressure.
Top performance. SCP got the tactics spot on. Stevens my MOM, just piping Cousins who's natural instinct is to go forward. Matching their diamond threw them a bit and the early goal may have made them relax a bit and they could not pick it up - although we often two or three players fighting for the ball. With a bit of luck we could have scored two or three in the first half and I thought we were unlucky going in 1-0 down.

Same again with maybe Prichard replacing Gower? What do you all think?

Stephens crosses were unplayable and he actually put some graft in!
Cousins is going to have a great career if he stays injury free.
If this team had turned up vs Millwall we would have mullered em.
Would like to know how the club say there were 1,700 Forest there.
Looked nearly 2,500....
Hamer caught out of position for the goal but only someone like Reid could have stuck the quality of ball in like that

Jordan Cousins had me lost for words. Can't believe he is only 19, he seems to have everything in his game!

Cousins and Harriott are a joy to see in the midfield as they are home grown. Cousins already looks very good and must stay in the team.
Have been really disappointed with Stephens this season but thought he was good tonight. Wilson put in a great shift too.
Unlucky not to win.
All in all a very good game of football.
How do we set up for the next game though?
