Excellent news. We either keep or at least get a decent fee for one of our best players and an anomaly in the pay structure is eliminated. And a happy player is more likely to be an effective player

I'm smiling at all the "told you there was nothing wrong, told you so, everything is great" posts though. We shall see. The serious concerns about long term funding and commitment to the club from TJ and MS remain in my mind. The August Sky TV money has been well spent for sure. Let's wait and see how the whole season pans out.

Not seen this anywhere. Nothing wrong with people pointing out that some of the comments, based on evidence and actions we have, were waaaay over the top.

I agree. But I still think the board are being smart over players contracts.

I think that was what most of us 'head in the sand' people were saying all along. We never claimed we knew everything was fine and the future was rosy. Just that there was no evidence of the impending doom some were predicting and therefore we should wait to see how it pans out before damning the board.

Very smart but it begs the question of if signing him up was such as smart move why wait till now. Wiggins tomorrow then?

  • Superb news, two years from now I believe he actually will be better than John Terry.

    Lock up your daughters then.

    And wife

Do we know 100% the waiting was from the clubs side and not Solly's?

Because they've had him on a lower wage until now & saved a lot of money.

Also, if no Prem clubs came in for him (as they said), they possibly also negotiated a lower deal, than they would have had to, if Prem clubs did come in. A gamble, yes, but one that is possibly working.

Not forgetting that wages in The Champ are coming down, so the longer you leave it , the less you may pay.

We were reliably informed that the board were targeting the sale of Wiggins to fund the Sordell deal, so surely won't be him.

As a dedicated "head in the sand" type though I agree that all the crowing is unhelpful and a bit pathetic regardless of which "side" is doing it. One of the things that has irritated me over the last two years is people on here going through statements and reading into them some kind of insane portents of doom. The same should cut the other way. There's no evidence that this signals anything other than our POTY has extended his contract. And a jolly good thing that is, too. I hope it is the first of a few, but only time will tell.

He was asking a reasonable question. You have replied with a question.

    sorry dad
  • Make a great couple
  • I can't believe we've signed Chris Solly on a new 4 year contract , i thought we were going to let him leave for free next Summer , just so we could have something to moan about?
  • Brilliant news, now to get Hamer, Kermorgant, Wiggins, Morro, Cousins and Jackson on new deals.

    And Chrissy Powell himself!
