No surprises but always a little sad to say goodbye to players who've served the Club well.
Waggy and Taylor were both significant part of a record breaking season.
Fuller and Kerker helped the club to its highest finish for a long while.
Some fans will dismiss or ignore their contributions but that is their problem, not the players. The lack of generousity shown to departing players doesn't surprise me anymore but it still saddens me.
Good luck to all four of them
Apart from a few people not too keen on kerkar the vast majority of people on here have wished every player the best of luck and thanked them for their contribution.
????
I did say "some" and you only have to read the Waggy thread to see the ungenerous comments I was referring to.
I can only echo what most have said on here...good luck to all 4 (especially Waggy), they all contributed to a successful season that we are proud of....I hope all 4 get the club they want and of course playing time......goodbye, good luck and thank you.
All played their part, suggests Powell wants several signings to really improve this squad. Could have kept Taylor as 4th choice CB and one of Kerkar and Waggy as cover. Will trust his decision on Fuller, could be down to fitness or value for money.

This and agree with CP's comments about them all.
All played their part this season as solid squad members. From a purely selfish 'Charlton' perspective I'd have kept Taylor because he is a very very reliable reserve and more than held his own in games this season. I'd have tried to get a proper pre-season under Fuller's belt too as I think he showed towards the end of the season with a run of games that he can offer something when fully fit.
They all conducted themselves well while at the club and it's to Powell's credit that he's thinking beyond his own interests and allowing them to go and maximise their careers elsewhere (at least in the case of Taylor and Waggy). That kind of respect for his players is one of the many reasons they'll walk over hot coals for him and it'll stand us in good stead for recruitment as his reputation grows for being the kind of manager players want to play for.
Really? Seemed nice as pie to me on Thursday and Sunday.
Someone who had her photo taken with him told me he was charming and came over as down to earth and nice
Dissapointed, but agree with the Fuller decison, despite my earlier charmless posting re Waggy sorry to see someone who has invested so much in the club leave but for him the timing is right, same for Taylor. Kerkar did not quite cut it but tried and played out of position. There are more going to go before August and I would expect one or two surprises (that's a guess)
Only wish them all the best. Personally, would have kept Taylor as fourth choice instead of Cort but that's just a personal preference.
I rate Cort and he has been promoted twice before from this division I am not surprised to see Fuller go despite his wonder goals... When Shaun Bartlett was on loan and at the end of his 4 year deal he was a complete star, playing for a new deal but CAFC did not see enough of Fuller ... and yes this might make him hungry / come back to haunt us?
As many have already said, appreciate their services watching our best finish in 6 years but no real surprises...Overall it looks like a lot of money going off the wage bill and even if we sign all of the others then the squad might look a little thin? Can the Academy fill the gaps or will Powell be given a chance to buy in older players to push on? Or maybe this happens in the January window ???
If we can sign Obika then I think we are close to a top 6 squad! The points target for the play-offs will be higher next time simply because the relegated clubs from the Premier League are not basket cases... then again Leicester, Ipswich, Middlesbrough and Forest need to apply the brakes on their spending to comply with financial fair play by summer 2014

Clearly Powell will be signing players, as otherwise he would have re-signed the likes of Taylor and Waggy, as they aren't high wage players. Powell has released them because he expects to sign better players to fill his squad out.
Its a roller coaster this footy malarkey... And next season could be an interesting ride! Not for the faint hearted... or maybe a walk in the park? I have no insight into what the budget and backing is for next season so no expectations - let's see who else stays and goes - what we have is good enough until injuries or loss of form kick in
Kerkar played some really good stuff last season; Wagstaff never had a bad game this season; Fuller had many memorable goals (Palace away was one of them); Taylor was a stalwart for most of last season and gave a good game this season when he played. I wish them all well.

Played golf with matt Taylor today. Not in his four ball but same event. Had a couple of chats with him but didn't talk about this. He was very chatty and seemed fairly happy with life so would hope he's for something lined up. Really lovely chap and wish him all the best
Out of the 4 I think Fuller is the one who I am most surprised with. It could also be a good sign though that the Board/CP feel they can bring in better. It could also be that they can't afford his wages which wouldn't be such a good sign but I don't think it's that. I think his age and injuries have made the powers that be think they can bring in better.
I can understand Waggy, Kerkar and Taylor going as I don't think they are of the right calibre if we want to look up rather than down. I like all 3 of them of course because I think they've done a good job for Charlton but them being released shows me, again, that the Board/CP feel they can bring in better.
Fuller IMO has been disapointing overall. Yeah he may have put in the odd flash of class here and there but for a player of his calibre he should of scored far more goals. He is bleeding the clubs wage bill dry!! I am glad he has been released.
Taylor just isn't good enough at this level and thats a fact. He was blinding in league one but the championship is a touch to far for him I think.
Kerkar has been ok but not great I thought Powell would release him.
Now Scotty Wagstaff. We can sing Waggy Waggy...Your Charlton and you know you are Charlton and you know you are Charlton. Good lad, good player one of our own....Scotty Wagstaff his one of our own...
Sad to see him go but I think Powell was right he needs to be playing.... Good luck Waggy
For those having a go at Fuller they should remember that the bloke's quality basically won us about three games this season - the difference between 9th and finishing in the relegation dogfight which befell Huddersfield, Barnsley and the Scum.
Fuller did more than just score goals, he could hold it up and beat players in the final third, a very useful asset away from home when you have to absorb pressure.
As for injuries, all strikers get injured, even Yann missed games this season, but for Fuller to play in 31 games this season is not a bad effort at all considering he did not do a pre-season.
Smith is not ready to be a top-half Championship player yet and Obika would need to take a major step up as well, we would need to bring in someone like Morison from Leeds (or someone of similar quality) to be really replacing Fuller.
Spoke to Fuller at Sponsors' dinner and he was really keen to stay. Tried putting a good word in for him with the management team, but did not get far - think I found SCP's ruthless streak!
Sorry to see him go - quite a special talent and will be tough to replace.

The kind of player other teams hate playing against, always capable of creating something out of nothing & personally don't think that we will "replace" him. Yes sure we'll bring in a striker but had to imagine we'll bring in a class act like Fuller.

Agree with you. When i saw yann and fuller on the teamsheet at oakwell i thought thats too much for barnsley to handle. You always have a chance when you have genuine class up front even if it is patchy .

This!! Fuller and Yann also developed an understanding. Will be very surprised for a replacement of his calibre. I didn't expect him to score 20 or so, but contribute vital moments of quality. A bit similar to what Bellamy has done for Cardiff.

Agree. The first name the opposition would look for on our team sheet would be Fuller. That will be missed.

I agree with these sentiments. Just as he's got fit and seemingly motivated he's off. It must be either a personality clash with Powell or an issue of money

Sorry I disagree. He'll never be 100% fit. He has a shoulder that pops out/dislocates most matches & I presume he'd need an operation to pin it. Bryan Robson had that back in the day & it still wasn't totally successful.
Additionally, he's had hamstring problems & in the past back problems & never looks fully fit to me & at his age, I don't think he ever will be.
I also highly doubt there's a clash with Powell.
It's simply the fact that he's on a large wage that we can't justify, for someone that will never return to his anything like his glory years.
I just remember the fear he inspired in the Nottingham Forest defenders on his debut. Up until that point we had been toothless in attack, and because of Fuller we almost nicked a completely undeserved draw.
I also remember his skill to set up our third at Watford right in front of us.

I defer to your greater knowledge as to Fuller's fitness .. oh and congratulations on your top10 'predictor' finish .. you're not as daft as I thought (:->)

As stated by others, each one of those players have made a valid contribution for the Addicks and we can be grateful for their efforts.

Taylor came in and did a job. As did Waggy. Both will get decent League One clubs come in for them.
Evina is still under contract isn't he?
