  • Decent win, let's not get carried away.
Give it 2-3 years til promotion.
  • Great win and lovely to see us bouncing up the table into the edges of the play-offs.

As for the scoreline, would have loved to have been there (as would have so many others who have spent most of their Saturdays at cold northern grounds over the years). Can't remember many away wins remotely like that!

Massive credit to CP and the squad for the recent form (the players have been good enough all along though?).

And as for Barnsley, think my first visit there was in 92. Got fond memories as it was the most old fashioned ground I'd ever been to (there was so much terracing it looked like it hadn't been touched for 60 years) and it's where 'oh score a goal Johnny Robinson first started.

    Bring on the play offs.
  • Fantastic result, major bonus for the very brave folk who made it to Oakwell. If anyone wants to write up a full match report of the game and the day and have it featured on the Trust site www.castrust.org please drop me a line.

    Thanks

  • Great result for all of us that made the journey North.

Great performance by the team. Barnsley were never in the game. Tactics seemed good, as the difference between the two teams would not be as big as the scoreline suggests.

At one stage in the second half Charlton engaged in tiki - taka football that was Barcelonaesque.

On a side note - the potential for trouble following the death of the former Prime Minister passed without incident.

Not sure if this has been mentioned and not wanting to put a downer on Saturday but did anyone else notice evina waggy and Hollands in our end down the front? They did not even clap let alone stand after each goal. Very odd, you would think they would show a bit of passion and cheer their pals scoring 6!

yup just in front of me, they just looked bored.
As Off It mentioned they were more than accommodating to pose for pictures for our two boys. Even got a personal reply from Evina on my Tweet, thanking him for making the boys days. In actual fact, I think our players are very approachable. Outside the ground at Burnley, earlier in the season, they were very happy to sign stuff and pose for photos.
  • They were probably p*****d off they wasn't in the squad, so fair enough. Fair do's that they took the time with your boys.
  • I think it's just the way it effects some players. My dad's best mate played football to a fairly decent level and when he stopped playing in his late 30s it was years before he could watch a match, he didn't want to be watching, he wanted to be playing! He still came down to the sports club every week, but he'd arrive around final whistle time.

I imagine the higher the level you play at the more likely the above is. So the players in the stand were there to support their team mates, but I wouldn't necessarily to expect them to enjoy watching, no matter what the result.
  • In fairness, they were probably watching their chances of getting back into the first 11 this season being played out of sight!
  • Yeh it must be hard for players not in the squad.players at this level earn ok but you never know where your next contract is coming from.cut throat business football if you dont have a premeir leauge salary to set you up for life but i guess you get to live the dream.
  • Chris Powell and his (carefully chosen) players have worked wonders this season. Written off by many as not quite good enough for the Championship after a run away success last season, the whole outfit has come good just when it matters. I take my hat off to them all, the regulars and the one game wonders alike. Special accolades to Chris Powell for such a wonderful job with little cash to spend, he has marshalled his players superbly, a master manager in the making. (And to think I wanted him sacked at the back end of the season before last)

Oh ye of little faith Lincs but fair play for holding your hands up :-)
  • Was in Dublin for the weekend, asked my brother-in-law to check the result, he covered up his phone and asked me to guess the score, saying you won't get it, maybe 3 or 4 nil....either way, nope he then showed me the score...unbelievable. Needless to say a 'few' pints of the black stuff were sunk on the Saturday night.
  • Just watched the highlights on Sky...some good football played there, great move for JJ's goal, reward for those that made the trip up to, been up there twice....0-0 and a 1-0 defeat (early to mid 80's)...a bit of a contrast from Saturday.
  • Mr W went out to do some gardening when we were 1-0 up. I said to him I thought there'd be a lot of goals. He came back in at about ten to five, so I said there had been a lot of goals - five...and left a long pause in which he looked worried. Then added WE HAD SCORED ALL OF THEM!! Loved doing that! And then it was six!
