Dont think could ever have expected 6 goals but not that surprised to have beaten someone in a romp. anyone going to away games this season will have seen a different team to the one perforforming at home. the main difference today was once we got in front we got the second and managed to kick on.also the confidence from recent games shone through and we looked like a real team.hope we can finish the season with a real rattle although will be expecting stiffer opposition tuesday.
Great away day, a 40 minute drive to the match found a parking spot 5 minutes away, still in disbelief at the result. Won the bonus Ball in my local as well, happy days!
Over from California and I can't believe I saw that game. Absolutely fantastic. Everything went right for us and Barnsley had nothing to offer. Hamar wasn't tested all game. I'm so proud that I saw that result. Six goals for and none conceded. Unbelievable. Now onto Cardiff. :-)
What game to come over for Rob. Look forward to catching up soon.
Perkins , Shrew , he ran the show at the Valley, wasn't so great yesterday, but then who did for Barnsley, not to take anything away from us , but that was a very poor Barnsley team.
We were all thinking after last week picking points up at palace and Cardiff that we would beat Charlton, I said to my mates we should win about 3-1 but alas that was not to be, they came at us and battered us from first to last minute, they were the best team I have seen down at oakwell for a long time. They never let up even at 6-0 they were barking orders at each other to prevent us even getting one back. We can't blame Luke Steel he as others have said on hear had a bad day at the office. You may laugh but I don't think we were that bad more that they were bl oody good .Although a few left early Flitcroft acknowledged the crowd at the end who were applauding the team , that's what we are about we know we haven't got buckets of money to chuck around but support our team through thick and thin . Survive or drop me and my mates will be at Oakwell next season as we are every season . Bring on Derby COYR
"And as for Charlton, along with Forest me and alot of folk sat around me thought that they're one of the best if not the best to come to Oakwell this season. We were very poor but they set up brilliant and were better man for man."
"Whilst the games at Palace and Cardiff have taken their toll on the players, meaning they were unable to press the opposition in midfield as normal, I think we should also recognise the quality in the Charlton team. Ricardo Fuller has always been a player I have admired. He is obviously no spring chicken any more, but he was still able to exploit the weaknesses in our central defence today, easily out-muscling Sir Bobby Hassell. Charlton also had two good wingers, with Harriott on the left being particularly impressive. Not only was he very quick, but also he crossed with great accuracy. At the heart of their defence, Charlton were also strong with two man mountains snuffing out everything in the air".
"Clearly Charlton deserved to win and win well for which you'd give their attacking players credit, or blame our defence, depends which way you're inclined. But for a team that lost 6-0 we got in a hell of a lot of good positions and hit dozens of shots at goal, but ever single one of them seemed to get blocked. Never seen a defence protect their keeper so well."
I think we could be in for a promotion charge next year - the team has half a dozen captain type characters in it, has bags of spirit, a club legend of a manager and a real bond with the fans again. With a bit of investment I don't see why not. We can, and have, beaten most teams on their ground and with a bit of quality added, we should be able to drastically improve on our home form. It's looking good. What a difference a few weeks can make.

Not sure if this has been mentioned and not wanting to put a downer on Saturday but did anyone else notice evina waggy and Hollands in our end down the front? They did not even clap let alone stand after each goal. Very odd, you would think they would show a bit of passion and cheer their pals scoring 6!

They were happy to pose for pictures with the kids though. Real gentlemen.
Incredible to have been there as one of only around 660 ish. But it was an odd game. Though we had better players and strength in all areas i felt we didn't play as well as we could. So we won at a canter, so it seemed. Barnsley disappointed. The significance of the game seemed to bight them at stages and tension seemed to take its toll on them. Their crowd was quiet throughout. Shocked probably. They had a couple of spells where they rallied and put us under some pressure. During one of these in the first half Dervite had had a stern talking to and not long after made a rash challenge as he air kicked the ball and accidentally took their guys legs away on the edge of the D. If he'd got at least booked for that we may have had a different type of game. (The challenge on Fuller late on that lead to their second red was a similar accidental challenge except a goal scoring opportunity that earned a straight red).
The ref had been notably harsh on us after we were 2 up but from a Barnsley point of view had only produced 2 cards all day and 2 straight reds for them, not that the sendings off had anything to do with the outcome, the first came when we were 4 up i think.
Actually felt sorry for Barnsley as 5 and 6 went in. They've put up a good fight in recent months but I can't see them getting out the bottom three now. Hope they can. For them it could come down to the game with Huddersfield on the last day. As for us we could give anyone a game right now and if we were nearer to the play offs i'd fear we could actually win the thing.

That team can score a goal I think.
When Barnsley bought Jason Scotland on they seemed to up the tempo and I thought they would get back into the game, how wrong was I.
Also to cap the day off, I won £16 from a Yes/No slip on the Millwall game.
