the decision to keep dervite on second half (and indeed the first) cost us any chance we had, miracle the score line was that low, Powell needs to do better, go up and sit in the stands perhaps?
We were poor with 11 men already, difficult to tell if we would have improved with 11 but its all moot now. Then the Kermonator gets sent off with barely a quater of the game gone and from that point we have to defend for the rest of the game. Once Forest scored the game was effectively over. Felt like leaving after an hour.
Ok Positives points :I thought Jacko had a good game, worked hard and tried to make things happen, Solly was OK, Cort did ok. Forest tore us apart and we went down to 10 men but they only breached our defence through two mistakes.
Negatives: Stephens - a player allegedly set fro a premiership career was aweful, could not pass and was continually bundled off the ball, Pritch as much as he has energy more and more teams are realising that the engine can be negated by a bit of muscle, too oild now to be built into a powerhouse. As a team we gave away the ball far too much. Hamer is a player I have stood up for but maybe he needs a bit of a rest. I'd like to see the kermogant incident on TV before I comment on that, I would have started with Fuller as he can hold the ball up, although I would not have started 4-1-4-1 or whatever it was. As for Dervitte broke up a lot of play, but then failed with his distribution.
I did enjoy some of Forests play, shame it was against us, but they were a bit Arsenal ... lots of fluff, not enough (fortunately) substance
Forest deserved all 3 points irrespective of the 3 mistakes that eventually cost us. Hamer was at fault for the second goal, Waggstaff was at fault for the first goal and Kermorgant cost us any chance we had with his stupidity. Even before those mistakes Forest were totally dominant and were always looking a cut above anything we had to offer today.
Why can't he fucking understand that 4 5 fucking 1 won't work at home!!!! We haven't got the midfield to attack away teams using that formation, both wingers are nothing more than work horses!!! All three cm's aren't technically gifted enough to play that free role behind the striker. Honestly. Sometimes I feel I could manage charlton better
well stevo was bundled off the ball in the first half maybe it was because he received the ball looked forward for a pass and saw nobody was bloody there, I can recall at least one occasion that happened, it's far too easy to knock the creative player who want's to get on the ball, but you must have options to pass to.It's he's natural instict to hold it until someone becomes available or look for a pass not to hoof it to nobody, I would prefer to watch him than many others.
Agree with what others have said - we were being out-played 11 v 11, so had no chance when we went down to 10. Having said that, sometime the team spirit can come out and a team plays a bit better. That did happen for us today and I wonder if that is because our players are already giving it their all?

I doubt it as otherwise you would have seen were weren't playing 451

I can remember a couple of times, and that is just this match, where we had players available for a simple forward pass and he failed to find the player. I completely agree that we are lacking in movement, and that makes his and anyone else trying to pass the ball job a lot harder, however a lot of the time with Stephens he cannot even make a simple pass.
Our general pattern of play always seem to be to play a couple of passes along the back line, and then to hoof the ball forwards.
Forest Away - Outplayed for 70 minutes Forest Home - Outplayed for 90 minutes
It was hard enough trying to get anything from the match with 11 men on the field , with 10 it was impossible , people may moan about the fact we played 4 - 5 - 1 at home , and i can understand that , maybe its a combination of the fact against a decent Forest side against a newly promoted team that our midfield is not strong enough to play 4 in midfield against one of the better teams.
Or maybe Chris Powell is sending out a message to the board that he doesn't have confidence in the quality of our midfield in terms of creating chances , and dominating possession ,we must bring some quality into the team in the summer rather than cast offs from other teams , if we have aspirations of improving.
To be fair with better finishing we could have let in 4 or 5 and then people would really be moaning , 0-0 at half time , i would have taken that scoreline at the end of the match , and it became a matter of when Forest were going to score , not if , Kermy got sent off 7 mins before half time , Forests first goal came 7 mins after half time , we let in 2 goals in 8 minutes , looks like we just turned off and let things get to us.
Much as it was freezing cold today (i think i'd have preferred to stay at home and put my feet up in front of the tele) I have to keep reminding myself that it took Curbs 7 seasons to get us out of this division , and its going to be a work in progress , would like to know what the boards Summer transfer targets are, are we going to have more of last summers spend or 'significant investment' as was the case in league 1, i have bought todays match programme, and look forward with interest to reading our chairmans notes.
Would be interested to see a Championship League table of wages spent at each club , to see where we rank , i'm sure Andy Reid don't come cheap!
Very disappointing seeing as we played so well on Tuesday, seems like only me who thought Pritchard gave everything unlike any other people even solly had a quiet game.
Kermorgant was in the wrong for that incident and probably deserved a yellow harsh for a red, what annoyed me more was the fact that the ref didn't even speak to halford about pushing kermorgant and starting the whole thing off and for that I question his ability to ref. maybe thats why he is a championship ref.
However I do not want to dwell on this performance and hopefully see a reaction In the next game as we clearly have the ability to compete, today was just a poor performance that we can improve on.
Very dejected after the spirited performance on Tuesday. Felt the gaffer might start with the same 11 and wasn't disappointed. As soon as Halford hit the deck I just knew it would be a red for our Beast. Seems it was always going to be that kind of game....
Forest were by far the better team on the day and deserved the 3 points but surely we could have offered more resistance ? Very few positives for me and far too many negatives. Stephens was abysmal , Pritchard was chasing shadows , Waggy offered very little and Dervite was the midfield scapegoat if some of those around me are to be believed. And Hamer's handling was very worrying.
Saturdays at The Valley could be our downfall. Something has to change if we hope to sell a shedload of season tickets for next season.

But Dervite aint a midfielder Fanny, which sets the precedent before a ball is kicked, we were playing a mid-table team, inviting them on to us, whatever peoples opinions of Billy Davies are his teams invaribly play good football, our set up invited them to play to there strengths.
Struggling to think of a worse performance than what was served up today and am amazed we only lost by 2. Sorry to dig out players but Stephens was an embarrassment and Pritchard looked way out of his depth. We can't keep blaming the pitch, which is the worst I have seen for a long time, for poor performances because Forest murdered us on it. Just checked the BBC stats and it says we had 1 shot on target to their 12? Must have nodded off as I don't recall us getting anywhere near their goal let alone having a shot on target.

Fair enough, nss. Just felt he had been looking good there against Leics and the first half at Palace.
Billy D is obviously the catalyst for the recent Forest revival although I thought they looked a class team when we played them at the beginning of the season.
Few Lifers have mentioned the state of the pitch today. Seems we play better on a decent surface at away grounds.

Even with 11 men all we were doing was trying to keep the score down.

Also for the first goal Waggy is clearly pulled back.
