I think the ironic cheering of the completely passes actually helped last weekend (and I'm usually one of the "happy clappers"). If they didn't realise what they weren't doing right before that, then they sure did after.
So far he looks same as Hamer has been recently ,as said above, one save and one flap/fumble that he got away with It's his to lose and I don't think he's done that today Although Burnley were as wank as we could hope to play against they done as little as required to take the points
Hamer has been unfairly seen as a scape goat. He has made a few mistakes lately but compare this to the games he has kept us in and there is no comparison
Would love to know how he cost us three against Wednesday. One goal was a looping header into the top corner and the other took a huge deflection...
I think he was badly positioned for that one - their one attacker had a defender on him - the cross was an looper itself that he was never going to get so he should have been on his line.
He has made some errors and was rightly dropped, but he also has the potential to be a top keeper, and clear to me a better bet than Button. There were a couple of tricky balls he had to hold yesterday that I wouldn't have been confident of Button holding. I hope the rest has done him good - as he is going to be a key palyer for us this season and next.
Anyone know who he was blaming for the second Bolton goal yesterday and why?
Hopefully Dervite for again giving a player 4 yards of room and then doing a token back turn jump block which unsighted him?
Hamer is known for shouting at the defenders but he had a point on this one I think. Dervite should have stopped the shot ever coming off, or at the very least blocked it. In the end he managed to stop Hamer seeing the ball until far too late.
Looked a horrible goal from the side seemed to take a while to go in
I thought Ben did well, couple of fizzers late on which he might have spilled a month ago, hopefully a few weeks solid in the training ground has helped out
I agree with the view that Hamer looks the long term better bet but I do wonder how fed up Button must be. He was quite angry to have not been playing earlier in the season and now after a couple of games is back on the bench.
Button had a decent game against Huddersfiled, but dropped a few (that didn't get punished). Was at fault for the Posh equaliser and for both Millwall goals IMO. He is less mobile than Hamer and feels to me like a lower league keeper - where as I think Hamer can go all the way. Button's positioning for the Millwall free kick was that of a keeper who lacks speed on his line, and knows it. Powell knows who is the better bet, and that is why Hamer came back at the first opportunity. But Hamer did need to be dropped! Same as Wiggins over Evina. Evina did well but Wiggins was always going to win his place back. It is Button's job to convince he is better and he did ok, but not well enough to really grasp the opportunity he had.
I totally agree with all your comments Muttley. Another one to think about, is Button better than Sullivan? I'm sure he is on his way out but he looked good for the Dons in recent weeks?
The postioning of the free kick issue was shown by Shilton in Italia 90 semi final. He was in his 40s and was further off his line to compensate for his lack of speed. Ball took a wicked deflection off parker, but a younger more agile keeper would have saved it and we would have got the the World Cup final. To be fair- the young Shilton was one of the greats! He was still decent in his 40s but there are issues with imobile keepers!
I also thought Dervite had a shocking first half . Terrible lack of pace and movent but sitting right behind that second goal I thought it was more Hamer at fault for it.

The problem is that you can't keep a goalie in the reserves for ever. If they can't oust the incumbant, a couple of seasons and they need to move on to get their chance. Not the sort of keeper/player you want if they are happy not playing!

Button was ok against an average mid table side
But no mistakes that led to a goal so he's ok by me so far
