Button played in this league last year for Barnsley, so not a complete rookie. Looked good in the cup.
After last weeks cock up he decided he wasn't coming for anything today and as a result made our 2 centre halves nervous. After Scunthorpe last year I am of the view that Morro does not trust him (when despite a clear call Moro refused to leave it and cleared it resulting eventually in their penalty).
Was a bad mistake, but it doesn't help when you have people like the chap who sits 5 seats from me shouting "He's saved it!" sarcastically every time he does make a save (similar to the morons who thought it was hilarious to start cheering completed passes in the first half). Given we have no idea how good Button is, I find it's hard to make a decent case for him starting.
Seemed decent v Huddersfield in cup.
Also cheering was funny
The cheering was absolutely moronic.
The football wasn't great either. They are paid quite well to kick a ball not make it look like an object from outer space.
Quite right, but if so-called supporters think that taking the piss out of their own players is going to do anything but make a bad situation worse, they really do need their bumps felt.
Sometimes a bit of competition motivates certain players to up their game, and helps them cut out mistakes that cost goals. I'm not saying Button is brilliant. He may well be worse. But he's here, so surely worth a go if it might help Hamer get back to his best, and we'll never know if Button can be any good unless he gets games somewhere along the line. Hamer blames anyone else when he makes errors.
Of course goalies' errors are highlighted more - but this isn't 1-2 clangers in a season, it's 1-2 a month.
I think dropping him for a couple of games will hopefully make him realise he isn't guaranteed a place and hopefully make him concentrate and communicate with his team mates rather than looking for others to blame. Don't get me wrong I rate Hamer but he needs a break.

IMHO, the word you should be using is "ironic" , not moronic.
There was little else to cheer about this afternoon - surely showing appreciation when more than one pass is successfully completed is FAR better than booing when they're not ? I was actually quite surprised that the "morons" you speak of didn't show their disgust in the "good old way "that some supporters resort to so easily.
After another mistake today he needs to be dropped. Occasionally he'll make a decent save (all keepers should) but he's never filled me with confidence.
I think the mentality needed to be a keeper is complex. you have to be arrogant and fearless but also be able to maintain a focus for each and every game. The best tone down their arrogance so it becomes- or looks more like confidence. Concentration is a tricky one - a great keeper like David James had an issue with this throughout his career - Hamer looks a bit too hyper sometimes and maybe age and experience will help him in this respect -being Hyper must affect your concentration. James wasn't hyper in the same way but admitted that he had an issue maintaing concentration.
Hamer can be a great keeper IMO and this bad spell could help him. If I was Chrissy, I would be thinking about giving him a rest though.
Everyone knows Hamer is a very good goalkeeper like Pritchard, Wilson, Kermorgant, Wagstaff, etc etc are all good players(all of whom have been dropped at various times) but one can get complacent and Hamer does have a bit of the showman about him and it is no bad thing to be dropped to remind oneself that noone is indispensible . He is a very good goalkeeper..... is a fantastic shot stopper but he does flap in his area a bit and to create a better focus in himself it may be a good thing for Button to be given a place in the team after all Powell does allow people to be given a chance and this for Button is it.
IMHO dropping Hamer isn't the answer. A keepers game is all about confidence. I've played a fair few times between the sticks & even at grass roots football you have to be the loudest person on the pitch, show no fear. It's not arrogance. Every save he makes will help him but conceding a soft goal like yesterday your back to square one. Like as said above I think he struggles with concentration levels. There are weaknesses to his game but he's still my number 1. Drppping him could see the demise of a player with huge potential.
The flip side of that is that we have a bloke on the bench watching the fella in front of him throwing them in week after week and not getting a look in.
Don't think it's doing his confidence much good at the moment
I think Hamer should be dropped but I still think he is our best and one of the best keepers in the league. But as others have said it wont do him any harm to know his place isn't secure and he needs to sort himself out. Hamer seems like he's got his head screwed on so I don't think dropping him will affect his confidence too much.
It could focus him a bit more on areas he needs to work on. I think he has terrific potential but he has also cost us a point at Palace, possibly three against Wednesday, a point against Hull.
Have been a big fan of Hamer but after his recent mistakes think Button should start. We can't afford to gift goals the way we're playing. Don't rate Sullivan at all....

He totally lost the plot for 15 mins today.
I've defended him and do think he'll come back into form, but at the moment he is costing us games.
Think he'll be out for Burnley.
Let him have a week helping Paddy Powell.
