What does Hamer need to do to get dropped?

  • I'll just name drop here but I was chatting to Dean Kiely last night at half time.

I asked him about Hamer and he rates him and says Powell does too.

He did say his distribution is rubbish though*

Deano is still with West Brom and was there with Kevin Keen. Nobby Solano was hanging around as well.

*I may have made this bit up.

  • surprised by this - i rate his kicking / distribution - his weakness is he doesn't come off his line enough and clear things out but is a decent keeper in my opinion - certainly not a weak link - goalscorer and centre mid have to be way ahead in the priority list.

Dan, you may have missed this from Henry's post:-

  • Butter fingers
  • Yep that was another bad one today. I thought the Hull mistake was worse but others around me thought today's was the worse of the two. It may be that I spent £xxx going to Hull and that game would have been a draw but for the mistake that it seems worse.
  • I am usually to be found sitting in the supporting corner for Ben but today he was away with the fairies for much of it. Perhaps he's beginning to believe his own publicity and needs a quick reminder that his place in the team is not a given. Yes bring in DB for the next one.
  • Well if you are going to drop him now is the time, I personally don't think we should.
  • I think dropping him for a couple of games will hopefully make him realise he isn't guaranteed a place and hopefully make him concentrate and communicate with his team mates rather than looking for others to blame. Don't get me wrong I rate Hamer but he needs a break.
  • If he isn't dropped surely button will get dispondent
  • Was a bad mistake, but it doesn't help when you have people like the chap who sits 5 seats from me shouting "He's saved it!" sarcastically every time he does make a save (similar to the morons who thought it was hilarious to start cheering completed passes in the first half). Given we have no idea how good Button is, I find it's hard to make a decent case for him starting.

Seemed decent v Huddersfield in cup.

    Also cheering was funny
  • Had a shocker today , seems very shaky . and doesn't feel me with confidence at the moment , lucky to get away with only 2 let in , maybe he needs a rest?

I know all goalies go through dodgy spells ,De Gea and even Joe hart , but how long do you stick with them , and is Button any better?
  • Disapointing but let's remember the important saves ge has ade and yes today was a poor error but dropping him for someone who we haven't seen much of would be a bad idea
  • Not sure how great Hamer's mindset is at the moment. He was having words during his warm up routine with Ben Roberts. Roberts was taking shots at him and then Ben picked one out of the net and hammered it into the West Lower hitting a fan. No sign of an apology from Ben and Roberts was clearly trying to get him to calm down. Really like Ben but think he's feeling the heat at the moment.

What is remotely funny about mocking our own players? I bet they found it bloody hilarious.

  • I presume SCP has seen enough of him though .
  • Button can't be as bad as Hamer is currently performing , otherwise whoever recommended him should be tinned
I like the fact Hamer puts his cock in the custard by getting amongst it but too many basic errors are taking place a bit too regularly atm so being dropped might get him re-focusing himself on the job in hand and realise he is not a given as a starter...

    The cheering was absolutely moronic.

  • The goal was a bad error, but he also spilled at least another 3 in the course of the game that he was able to then get the second time. Worrying.
  • Don't drop him, but give him a few games rest ....:-)
  • Hamer had a terrible spell after the 2nd goal for 10 minutes, where he was completely at sea. I wonder if mentally he needs a break...

Wasn't the people cheering who were so moronic they couldn't string 2 passes together.
  • Flapped at everything and has been since the Palace game. Time for Button, Pope or Sullivan.
  • He has done well for us in the past season and a half but his errors in the last few weeks are starting to cost and with Button in the wings the change for next week needs to happen. If a striker was missing open goals it would be a no brainer to drop him so so should be the same for the keeper when making these sort of errors

Whoa there, things aren't that bad !

Desperate times mean desperate measures , but we can't play them all! :-0

The football wasn't great either. They are paid quite well to kick a ball not make it look like an object from outer space.
