A lot of 'older' people taking digs out of cars. One bloke at least about 40 desperatley telling his mates 'come on lets get to the front and have it'. Sad little men.
It's Palace away get over it been happening for Donkey's years nothing new here, move on.
That makes it alright then
No, but it does put into some sort of conext rather than pretending these "new" fans are totally different from all of us who having been going for a while.
Not defending stupidity or vandelism but let's not brand all the youngsters the same.
It was good, I thought, to see so many younger fans. Its good news for the club that we have a next generation.
Yes, some of them were in the wrong or went too far but its hardy a new thing for SOME Charlton fans or even some youngsters to misbehave.
Good post and cant believe some of the repsonses to it.
I am one of those Charlton fans who has to travel to London after matches to get home, there are always loads of silly idiots winding up the oppostion from the Kent bound side of the station always after we win of course (you dont see them when we lose).
Spare a thought for us before you start hurling your abuse.
So do you understand what Palace away means ? Do you really ?
I can't justify some of the things that happened outside the ground after the game today, but I know where I'm pointing my finger first and it isn't towards our own. Treat people like animals and see what you get.

Don't think it's a 'new' breed , just fans that have always been Arround charlton , personally think its more people who dont mind/like charlton but go to games for the fights/ confrontation . Certainly don't see them at home games and away games give or take palace and millwall . Don't think there is any need to worry either as they will only be going to sellhurstpark and the den . However the thing that is a bit worrying is that innocent fans get jip and problems from it - happened to me as I was infront of the smoke bombs and had a police up in our face with the camera etc - just hope we arnt thought to be part of the little group of idiots

Thing is in that when yobs attack people near your home, vandalise etc - we all hate it. If people do that wearing a Charlton shirt that doesn't make it okay because they're 'one of ours'. I've got a good friend who's been a Palace regular since the 60s and I'd hate for him to get attacked because his team beat us in what is supposed to be a sport.
IMHO the police didn't help the situation one bit. We were told before the game where we should exit and in which direction we should head. Seems as though Plan A became Plan B but nobody told us, the customers who had paid over the odds to sit in a decrepit stand and who were inevitably "miffed" at losing the game....No dialogue was permitted with the officers in situ along the road so we were herded along like cattle...
However, peed off though I was about the above, there was no excuse for the car windows/wing mirrors that were smashed along the designated route. Some might say this only happened because it was Palace and it was mainly those who only attend such local derbies /look for trouble. Possibly true but an indelible stain on our Club's good name.
Yes, I'll admit I DID have a few choice words to say the boys in blue who barred our way to our car & told them in no uncertain terms that the manner in which they had policed our fans' exit from the area had caused more trouble than it had prevented ( IMHO of course !) But how any Charlton fans can excuse the kind of behaviour I witnessed after the game, will continue to puzzle & disappoint me for a very long time.
BTW Our fans were tremendous throughout the game itself, barring the flare incidents which are plain stupid in the eyes of this pensioner.
did not go today...in a way glad. went to the last time we were there and i remember being problems with the police at the station. got to the point our fans started pushing them over. also our lot running along the roads knocking out some palace lads who were trying to get at the average/family supporters. no cars were attacked, but all this new breed just means you have recently seen it. against rivals especially, they come out of the woodwork. they have always been there. causing trouble and protecting at the same time. still cocks for attacking peoples cars.

Throwing flares into our own crowd ain't clever either, fortunately it only brushed me.

Old bill provoked them
Tell that to the poor (in a lot of senses of the word) buggers who had their property smashed
