  • We really lack width Pritchard didnt have his best game but then he is not a winger.

    Thought Wilson was mom

Shame about the young Brighton fan nutting the Geordie fella in the Lib after although it brightened the day up
  • decent game, opened up a bit more in the 2nd half.

    Pritchard & Jackson struggled

Haynes is wasted on the r/hand side.

    Wilson MOM for us.

    CMS was a real handful.

    the ref can do one.
  • Brighton played their usual game of playing the ball around the back and waiting for us to push out but we stood firm. They are a good side with Buckley and Lua Lua on the wings. Hamer was outstanding and thought he was our man of the match with 2 great saves and has the makings of a premier league keeper. Thought Stephens had one of his best games this season alongside Frimpong who sprayed the ball around confidently. Gutted for Morro after their first goal as he looked distraught but dealt with CMS superbly and stuck to him like glue. Pritchard gave the ball away far too much for my liking and seemed like he wasn't looking up when distributing the ball but made up for that with his goal. Wilson and Solly were superb and think that these 2 could work well on the right together. Hulse held the ball up well but Haynes had a tough time up against Bridge. Overall a fair result against a good side who probably had the better chances aswell as the majority of possession and yet another point along with the unbeaten run to add to our total in surviving in this tough league. Bring on the Wanderers!

You're probably right,I only remember the ball ending up in the net.
  • Fair result against a decent Brighton side. Every Charlton player seemed to be blowing out of their backside by the end, and you can't ask anymore than that.

  • I thought Stevens had a great game today - best of the season & his link-up play with whiff whaff was something that we've been missing all season.

Still think the team was un-balanced with Haynes on the right & should have brought Green on with 15 mins to go - and why Yann for Haynes ???? should have been BWP for a bit of pace when defenders are tireing.

its a funny old league and although we are 12th there are about 7 or 8 teams within a point of us (below) - I know taht I will be castigated for saying this but I would have rather lost last week & won today than getting 2 draws........

It was definately a short corner because the Father-in-law shouted "What are you doing messing about with it out there? Just get it straight in the box..........."

Ah yes, the old football equivalent of Foreplay

  • Frimpong showed some nice touches, but lost a couple of 50/50s, being generous I'll say it was lack of match fitness, rather than desire...did you see his reaction to their second goal, he seemed distraught, albeit with a teenage tantrum!

That was hilarious, considering the circumstances. Was a bit like that old clip of Basile Boli getting booked and rolling on the ground in anger
  • Draw fair result, it's a pity Morrisons few mistakes seem to lead to goals lately.I thought Wilson was superb throughout, what energy he showed today

  • Wilson was excellent but I was screaming for him to smash the guy on half way when he got sold short with the pass and take the yellow there, rather than where he ended up fouling the guy outside our box, and the rest is a deflected history.
El Abd got away with murder including a punch in the ribs on morro at one set piece. I thought Yann might try to get involved with him when he came on but didn't.
  • Got to give Chris Powell a lot of credit for picking up Wilson.
  • Dervite - today and last week - Class

    Definitely

Excellent assesment. Exactly what I thought.

  • Good to note a high degree of correlation in the views on today's match. I thought we played well and certainly deserved the point. Brighton played very well too and apart from CMS, Will Buckley on their right gave Chris Solly one of his toughest games of the season. I agree that Wilson was our best player today and I can't wait to see him and Solly together on the right. With Wiggo soon (hopefully) to come back we just need a stronger left midfielder to balance the side. We were too narrow today and were often unable to play it wide as there was no-one there to collect the ball. Pritch did ok and I was thrilled when he scored. A win would have been great but a very good match against admirable opponents was a fitting way to mark the 20th anniversary. Unbeaten in 7, up to 12th - happy days!
  • Good game. Thought we looked better when using the wide men, but they had more (quick) passing and movement when attacking through the middle. Think they just shaded it really, but a draw wasn't far off of being a fair result.

Someone said " We will beat Cardiff then remain unbeaten for the rest of 2012". That man was a genius.

    Were you that man, Masicat?
    I thought it was me!

  • did anyone else think pritchard looked like he was emotional/crying when he scored? kept wiping his face when walking back to the centre circle and spent a while leaning on jackos shoulder

Well it is an amazing journey for him in a season and a half, non league to scoring in the second tier of english football, so pleased for him getting a goal.

And here is Pritch's goal from the Covered end upper: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DbQj_Zr5Hc&feature=g-u-u (go to about 2:35 for goal)

    I'll post my views tomorrow.
  • Thought that was a great point and once Brighton equalised only thought they had a chance of winning .
We gave so many free kicks away just outside the box it was inevitable that something would break for them.
I thought Wilson done much better pushing on but that came at the cost of him being caught out of position defensively a few times, deffo need solly behind him
Stephens had a good game and I don't know if its comfort eating or weights but has definitely filled out since last season
Ping pong is a bit hot and cold and for a big fella a couple of times since he's joined us he looks to have not gone in 100% on some 50/50s (bottled it)
Thought Hulse worked his socks off and is a handful
Haynes was pretty non existant I thought after a few flashes early on
Hamers handling of crosses and shot stopping and blocking were exemplary and he was my MOTM
Great support from Brighton as ever for a local derby

    0% top two .... 15% 3rd-6th ......25% 7th-12th .....60% 13th-21st.....0 % bottom three

Next, there were some class idiots in the covered end, block H, row NN, seats 123/124, industrial language fine, but the racist & homophobic that poured from their chops was rank..

Didn't think to challenge/report them at the time then? Let's get these kind of prehistoric attitudes/views kicked out, along with the moronic perpetrators'! Their lack of social awareness and zero intellect level is hardly an excuse either!

  • Leaving Cort out was extremely harsh,it has been suggested that it was down to lack of pace;however,Morrison is hardly blessed with it.Cort was arguabbally motm against Millwall and has been consistent all season. If I was him I would be extremely miffed. To add insult to injury,Morrison gave away a goal, conceded the free kick and missed a clear chance.
  • Felt sorry for Cort--outstanding against Smallwall.
I herd the left back has gone back to the Saints , but on here says he was ill.
We need Fuller there was no threat up front.
Mid table ---happy with that to be honest.
  • A rare visit to The Valley for me yesterday, only spoilt by a horrendous journey home due a breakdown in Blackwall Tunnel so decided to try and go up the Old Kent Rd and round Tower Bridge to the M1...nightmare!! anyway enough of that...thought BHA looked quick and played some good passing football....but it took two mistakes from the normally reliable MM and a huge deflection for their second goal. Hamer made two outstanding saves and injured himself in one of them but the ref played on despite Hamer being down behind his own goal-line!! Like the look of Frimpong and Stevo in the middle but we do need a left-sided LB...Solly with Wilson (who I thought was MOM) on the right together would be a great pairing, like every one else I presume Seabourne has gone back to Saints? Haynes is really pacey and not afraid to attack his man, hope he stays fit. With the return of Fuller and Wiggins we have a solid side. Overall a draw was a fair result and the unbeaten run continues...great atmosphere and the opportunity to meet up with a few 'lifers' again.....next planned visit for me now is last game of season (although I would like to get to one more before then if possible), and I think we will be comfortable in mid-table position at least by then....however a 'bit of investment in January' could see us push towards a play-off place if we continue to show the spirit, because these players do play for each other and are a tight knit unit and its plain for all to see that. I have a really good feeling about this squad and it was good to evidence it yesterday against a good side. Back to match thread duties next week from 2 pm.
