Can't believe all this guff - been going football for 30 years, never had a problem - if you don't want bother, you won't get it - unless you are very stupid. If you want 100% reassurance, wear an afro and carry a lidl bag and you'll just blend in with the locals

Not true i'm afraid Dan - just count yourslef lucky.

That said I agree this game produces an over-reaction. Leeds were down there last weekend, without the walk-way and it was the usual non-event.
If you're gobby you may come unstuck but should be okay otherwise.

We will be kept behind for 30 minutes and escorted to Surrey Quays, just like Leeds were the other week.

Fuck the escort and get a bus back ;)
Buses are for women and kids - so you qualify on both counts.
buses are the quickest and easiest form of transport - particularly as there are 7 of us - 21 stops right outside borough market every 5 minutes and takes 10 minutes (bus lanes are quick) to right bit of old kent road. luckily therea re posers about who are too up there own arse to go on a bus (not a dig at you off it ) so there's always plenty of room - its a no brainer

Looks like the easiest station for me is New Cross travelling from Orpington .... Will have 2 kids constantly asking are we there yet so can anyone give me an idea how long the walk to ground is or am i better off carrying on to Surrey Quays .... Also is there likely to be a few Charlton at New Cross to have a drink with?

20/25 minutes from New Cross cutting through the park, arches & estate.

By the time you wait for the ELL to Surrey Docks then a 15 minute walk from there, better off at New Cross.

It's a good 20 Minute walk to the dump from New Cross. Try the overground from there to Surrey Quays.

Thing is SE10 by the time have changed and waited for trains to Surrey Quays and still a 15 min walk may just be simpler from New Cross ..... Assuming of Course there will be a good following of Charlton to have a drink with there.

The trains are every 15 minutes from New Cross so see how it is when you get there I guess. But with Kids i'd rather not walk though the estates round there.

I don't care how quick it is - it still wont be quicker than a cab.

Wored out best route from Bickley (same for orpington?) is train to Peckham and cab...the Mrs asked "cab to footy?!" ...talk of Helmand and Ross Kemp made me laugh...Ross Kemp tried filming in her home town (Limerick) and had to bale out due to safety concerns!

Hundreds of Millwall fans do that walk with kids before & after every game. So many people walking around there you're hardly going to be risking anything & you stick to main roads most of the time. The only moody part is the park, but only if you're there on your own, late at night.
