Airman certainly does not need me to fight his corner as he is more than capable himself.
However I find it sad, particularly so close to the 20th anniversary of the return to The Valley, that a number of posters persist in making snide comments in his direction and querying his motives.
I think a man of his Charlton pedigree should be treated with rather more respect when he shares his concerns regarding the present regime at our beloved Club.

Just my opinion.
This with knobs on.
This. Brilliantly put, and far better than I, in my silent rage, could have managed.
The Trust launches tomorrow - everything will be fine after that!!! Many people have played their part in previous struggles and they, together with more recent supporters, will see us through on matchdays and when they are called upon to see the club through. Whatever the club loses each year (& my sources suggest it is less than numbers quoted) in order to compete, the club relies upon the owners to underwrite the monthly payroll & make the right decisions each window... The basic success factor is that they can keep the club competitive until we achieve promotion ... by increasing gates, selling high value players and getting the academy production line turning out first teamers. It was unfortunate that supporters lost their equity during the spiral of decline - lets work towards having a voice and helping the club however we can.

Not exactly silent from where I'm sitting/reading - anything but on this thread in fact!
But regardless, Len makes a decent point. However, in the same way that certain posters views should be respected, it doesn't mean that they should not be questioned and, imho, people are right to air their views that some of these comments do have a whiff of sour grapes or "it's my way or no way" about them.
I'm sure that Airman, being the apparently naturally questioning and challenging person that he seems to be, would probably be the first to encourage people to make up their own minds and freely express their views, even if he may not agree with them. We live in a democracy and this is a forum for opinions after all.
As for the "snide comments" part, well, in my view it could be argued that these have eminated from both sides of the "debate", although in fairness if you look at the gaps between posts it would seem that this topic keeps being resurrected by one "side" rather than the other.
Just my opinion, of course. (Added that just for you Len!)
We all have valid opinions but sometimes you just need to defer to people who might just have more of an idea of what's what than you do. Great post Len.

Fair enough.
I can't speak for Len but the snide comment that reduced me to silence was the one just above that implied that Valley Express was just a matter of laying on a few coaches and anybody can quickly get the hang of it. As well as being ignorant it was an insult to Rick and Wendy's work over the years which went way, way beyond anything approaching 9-5 and was powered by their passion for CAFC.
I do love how quickly people can reduce others' work to simple menial tasks without having the first clue what's actually involved.
It's so easy to belittle others' work. After all, let's not forget that all of this is in aid of watching some blokes kick some leather around a patch of grass.

So what is the difference? I dont doubt that it is tricky to organise, but is the above a snide comment about poor old Dhiran's ability? Who knows, Dhiran may take to it like a duck to water, grow in all of our hearts and then come on CL to spread rumours if/when he leaves / sacked.
Don't think anyone's digging out Dhiran, are they? The club is lucky to have him, but he's only doing it for three months, initially. I believe he's training to be an accountant.
If you wish CAFC to continue to utilise and pay for your business, can you please forthwith;
1) Ensure you continue to provide coaches on a routine basis from the following pick up points at the dates/times listed below (please note also the dates of the FA Cup games which this Club may be interested in and the Play Off dates in May)
2) Please ensure you provide sufficient vehicles to deal with the expected demand - paying particular attention to the 'promotion' games listed in 1) above. You may use your last twenty years history of providing this service as a basis for the required number of vehicles.
3) Please ensure you provide sufficient facilities to enable secondary bookings to be made directly through you. All intial bookings will come from CAFC itself and its network of Supporters Groups who utilise this service.
4) Please provide marketing support to assist in the continuation of this service. It is anticipated that a minimum of once a week advertisements are put into the local papers. Please bear in mind that the success of this and the subsequent business generated is for both our benefits.
5) Please note, we will be monitoring how you run this service from the New Year and will provide feedback as to where there may be particular issues or if we feel demand for the service is falling away. We want you to deal with all complaints, in writing, within seven days.
6) Should the service succeed (which with your knowledge and experience within the people transportation business, we are confident it will) we will be prepared to enter into a five year partnering contract with you to continue with this service. If it fails, then we will either offer this business to an alternative provider of such services or we will discontinue to run this service completely.
7) If you require someone with experience who has dealt with this kind arrangements fairly succesfully before, then please cal Wendy on............. I believe she is available for an immediate start.
Please confirm by return that your acceptance of this offer.
