Not much good defending on show from either team that's for sure, but a really spirited performance for the last hour. Thought the support for Powell was brilliant, but I too noticed his body language. Stephens had spells when he looked like the player we know he could be, and Pritchard was also very effective. As for Solly...his value must be going up every game as he is looking a very capable left back. Hope it is a win that helps us turn the corner in terms of home performances and, if the rumours are true, gives Powell a bit of breathing space.
Just got home. Incredible... the amount of times in the game I said "I just can't believe this" to the fella next to me must have bored him to tears.
When Cardiff went 2-0 up not in my wildest dreams did I think we even had a chance of snatching a draw.
Special mention to the north upper for tonight - at 2 down and with us making some horrendous individual mistakes it would have been so easy to to get on the players backs and spend the rest of the match moaning and groaning... instead they really got behind the side and Powell, and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that support was a big factor in out comeback.
Late goals? Almost threw it away? Well colour me giveashit.
Off to read the match thread whilst pretending I don't know the score.
Football bloody hell. Wasn't looking forward to tonight but what a game thought Hulse lead the line well and Pritchard grew into a Championship player. Hopefully Haynes only had cramp and they will take a lift from winning rather than be down from naerly throwing it away as there were a few glum faces at the end. Disaster when I got home as me oveltines gone solid over the summer. Never mind we won 5-4 and the support was supurb and yes a bit moving.
One of those games that you put up with all the dross for.
Shocking defending all night but great fight back.
Didn't think we looked awful at 0 - 2 but were punished for mistakes at corners although addickted swears the ball went out for number 2.
When we went 442 all the players looked more comfortable. Haynes up top gave us so much more and his pace gave them problems all night. Noticeable how we went off the boil when we no longer had that speed.
Kerker MOM three assists and great skill and tricks. And I still think he should be playing down the middle. Extend that contract.
Stephens looked a different player after his goal.
I like Dervite as well.
Cort and Cook at Bromley Addicks tomorrow (Wednesday) night to hear the inside story of what was said.
I have just got back, what a surreal game.I was cursing Jackson for not getting his head on their two corners.Woe betide he goes and scores two before half time,he made me look a prat. When Stephens scored that fluke from the free kick I thought it must be our night.Getting two more from Hulse and Haynes I was in heaven. My mate turned to me and said there are twenty minutes to go they can easily come back.I of course said there is no chance they will get back in the game.It just shows you how much I know.A win at the Valley was just what we needed,I hope it settles the players down.
Every positive I can say was all down to our covered end choir tonight. Truly believe they were the platform for that performance. Not a chance of coming back from 2-0 down without the support. You gave your all and got us three points. Brilliant.
Cardiff were dreadful and our defence anybody could score. Once we up'd the tempo and chances came our way confidence began to appear. Should have tucked at least 10 away but 5 will do. And then the keystone cops reappeared. 3 points in the bag and an entertaining match. Typical Charlton.
Just loved the crowd getting behind Chris and the team from the very start, even after their first goal. Just hated the last SIX minutes of additional play and how we still panic and stay too deep. Everything else in between was just a dream. Wasn't it?
Just back from the game - who would've predicted that? At 2-0 down I half expected a cricket score, but the team really rallied. I honestly think the support helped.
Where the hell did 6 minutes come from? Thought the ref was poor - will we be fined for all those cards he was giving out like it was Christmas?
Thank Gawd we had a 3 goal cushion - we nearly threw the win away. Was not convinced by Hamer - catch the ball, catch the ball!
to the c**t in the yellow coat in lower j norther upper how u had the nerve to stand and clap the team off after the pure hatred and bile u spurted out for the first 30 Mins pls hand in your season ticket and never darken se7 ever again. apart from that amazing game, so proud!!
What a dingdongdo. If you couldnt be bothered to go or lost faith you missed a Valley classic. Serves you right. Was seriously crimping during stoppage time though.
Went it went 0-2 looked over to Powell and he looked like a man who was finished. What a game, both defence were very poor. Will post more tomorrow. What a win though with the bottom 3 losing
That was one of the strangest games I have ever seen. Every time either side went forward I thought they would score. I would be lying if I said it has given me faith back in the midfield (bar Stephens) and apart from his two (key) goals can anyone honestly say JJ was up to scratch? I thought Haynes and Hulse were very dangerous and critical to the win. I think the biggest contributor to the victory however was the crowd and it touched me that everyone got behind the boys and SCP even when we were 2 down to the extent that they did. COYR.
Excellant game, breathless stuff indeed. We played really well at times. Not disappointed at all with the two late concessions as thats what 3 goal leads are for. We won't see many games like that and 3 points in the bag too. An excellant nights work, well done to the lads.
I thought the first half we looked good and only two awful defensive mistakes ruined it. 2-2 at half time was a fair result.
Second half everyone stepped up and we didn't look like a bottom 6 team. Stephens had one of the best games i've seen him have for ages, although his goal was fortunate the idea was perfect of dropping it in the 6 yard box. Jackson was nice and composed and well positioned rather than looking exposed, great goals too. Kerkar had some great turn of pace and provided assists. Linked up well with Solly. Pritchard played really well, even on the right, where rather than trying to beat players for pace he, like Jackson, was composed, steady and moved the ball around well.
Haynes was like having a new player. That guy is so quick and deserved his goal. Hope his injury is only slight because he looks a real threat and linked up well with Hulse. Hulse gives away a lot of free kicks but looks more dangerous than i expected him to be when we signed him. Also deserved his goal.
Defence was very worrying, but bizarrely i wouldn't drop any of them. I'd just shift them about. Solly RB, Cort CB, Morrison CB and Dervite LB, especially as Morrison kept drifting into the middle anyway. Thats unless we get an LB on loan. Still not sure the defence get on with Hamer.
Good to get a win, scary ending though and really thought that last free kick would do us in. Where did the ref get 6 minutes added time from? Because of how it ended we can't afford to get carried away. But delighted with win and will enjoy the moment.

Great comeback tonight some awful defending by both sides & both keepers were poor tonight.
I agree Powell looked down most of the night & even some of the players when they came off looked as though they lost.
Great crowd reaction when we went behind.
Just got home & having a drink to come down off the high.
