  • Please dont tell me Slater has just said that?
  • tbf I think most people agree and if he was to go, I would think there would be uproar.
  • I have absolutely no doubt that SCP is the right man for the job but I wonder how long t will be before he gets the dreaded "vote of confidence" from Slater and co?
  • Sir Chris Powell
    I'd give him till December

    2013 and see where we're at ....
The magnificent season last year has earnt him that
not the fact he is the most wonderful man in the world who deserves a damn sight more respect than is shown by our panicking bunch of minge bag fans
  • I occasionally pop on the millwall site and have a good old chuckle at their infighting about jackett

Get behind the manager ffs, not just on tuesday, not just till December, for the rest of the season and beyond there isn't anyone I would rather managing this side at the moment

We have I think 6 championship level players in this squad - Morrison, Cort, Yann, Wiggins, Solly and Fuller

If we can get all those players in the side and fit I think we will be fine and if there are funds for a centre midfielder in January all the better

One thing I have noticed having read this site this morning for the first time since the game we have some of the wettest defeatest moronic supporters in the country

    Man up
  • Of course there would be uproar.

But............... if you were a director who wanted to get rid of CP, when would you do it? Perhaps when the home crowd is a bit restive, when CP has a massive injury list and no decent cover, when he's likely to lose two home games in quick succession. Plus you would need a couple of away games to let the natives calm down a bit, so by my reckoning, getting shot of CP after Cardiff would fit pretty nicely.

I love CP with all my heart but right now, I'm feeling pretty scared for him.

Talk of sacking Powell is plain silly. We stuck with him during the bad period at the back end of 2010/11 and he came good. We have to do the same again. I just hope the board are thinking along the same lines.

  • I realise its not quite the same thing but I think that Peter Varney, Steve Kavanagh and Rick Everitt were all very much the right people for their posts too. Like stilladdicted I am very afraid for SCP right now. Yes Sir Chris has my 100% support.
  • Bournemouth Addick in agreeing with @oohaahmortimer shock!
  • Powelly should never be beyond criticism, I have never bought into the Sir Chris Powell, he is Chris Powell ex player finding his feet, I feel his substitutions this year have been poor and left us shapeless on occasions, however his backroom staff as well also need to step up to the plate. I don't believe he should be sacked but he has to take the rough with the smooth and I'm sure he accepts this.Over the last couple of years Millwall have found themselves in a similar position, have stuck with Jackett and turned the corner on each occasion.

What we do need to do is make sure our loan signings when we make them are good ones. This means our scouting needs to be top notch, as over the last couple of years the spanners have picked up Keogh and Wood and although not as well known as Fuller (although a permanent signing) and Hulse, they have been very effective.

A lot of hard work is needed on the training ground and that will prove the worth of the manager and his coaching team.
  • Without a doubt keep Powell. Maybe the disruption and perceived lack of leadership in the board may work in Powells favour. Would TJ and MS both need to agree to sack CP for it to happen?
  • going the valley is becoming a bit of a chore lately, not because of the team but because of our minging, miserable and moaning fans. Can we please all start getting behind the team as of Tuesday night even if we go a goal down. Let's show the current board what we are about and back CP all the way.
Yeah i know we have players that are lightweight and not simply not good enough at this level but what can we do about it? Nothing, we have no money and even if we did the transfer window does not open until January. With this in mind we simply have to knuckle down and try and generate some confidence in the team, remember, they feed off our support and as soon as we start to moan and groan it filters down to them.
Finally, before all the 'I've paid my money so I have the right to moan at them' brigade jump on me, I have one question for them and it is, what does your moaning actually achieve?

    I like this post.

  • The money is the problem.

Refreshing post. I was expecting to go on CL just reading doom and gloom. I'm 100% behind Powell too. There is no realistic alternative other than our fans to just get behind the team and support them when their heads have dropped.

no, the money is only a part of the problem.
  • CP needs our full support right now, and he has mine into the longterm future. I believe he is the right man for our club.

  • He's learning at this level just as the players are. There's been enough in the games so far to show we can survive at this level. If Powell goes then so may many of the fans! Obviously he won't be with us for the rest of our lives, but now is not the time for him to go. He can take us places, and he embodies everything that this club is renowned for. The family feeling, the love for the club. If that can't inspire the players then I don't know what will. In Powell We Trust!
  • As far as I'm concerned this shouldn't even be up for debate...............
  • He has my full support too.
NSS rightly says that no-one is beyond criticism, but in most areas of management in normal business, criticism doesn't mean 'the sack' as soon as a few things don't go swimmingly.
The injuries to an already modestly equipped squad are a huge problem for any manager.
Finally who would we get who would do any better with the current squad. Really?
What's needed is for this Board to sit down with Chris and work out what's needed to get a competitive squad. If there is no more money, then they need to stay calm and let him do his job to the best of his ability.
  • To watch him yesterday looking so dejected really hurt. He embodies everything that made me fall in love with Charlton. He needs time to continue his journey with us, time to learn, time to experiment, the board knew all that, or should have done, when he was appointed. He hasn't been backed financially or mentally this season, the injury list is ridiculous but the supporters are still behind him. I love that man soooo much.

We absolutely have to stand behind Chris Powell. Nobody is saying that he has got everything right, but how he was supposed to plan properly for this season with the extreme financial uncertainty and executive-level turmoil around him beggars belief.

If Chris goes then there will be no hope until these owners are gone too.
  • Not even up for debate. SCP is the man for us and we're the Club for him.

He's still learning along with Alex Dyer. They are both intelligent men who will learn from their mistakes and will, with the support from The Board, drive this Club in the right direction.

I could add my own words but THIS!
  • With Chris we have a chance in this league, without him we'll be back in League 1.
  • Curbishley OUT! Dowie OUT! Reed OUT! Pardew OUT! Parkinson OUT! Murray OUT! Powell OUT! Jimminez OUT!

Some people just can't help themselves. We have a lot of helmet fans.

Any fan who wants Powell out now, given what he did last year (which is in the past, but proves what he can do) and the situation he has found himself in since is an absolutely moron. Sadly, we have a lot of moronic fans too.
  • We could have Jose Mourinio or Brian Clough in charge and we would still be in the same position now.

We should have signed some players during the window, some of our players were excellent last year but not that great this year?
