From the conversation I had with him earlier this year and a subsequent email from him, PE is very much a fan of Chris Powell and knows how important he is to us.
I'd like to think he this counts for something
I heard similar from a Charlton supporting friend, who met PE earlier in the year, he was delighted that Chrissy was doing so well.
Isn't that the point that some are making though ? SCP is doing well so he's safe. To quote PE " football is a results business" Would you want Chris dismissed off the back of a run of results like De Matteo ? That was justified according to PE.
Very different situation though, as he has no connection with RDM but he is friends with CP, im not saying he wouldnt be proffesional in terms of sacking CP if something went terribly wrong but based on what numerous people have told me about him as a man including my friend i mentioned earlier, he would certainly put up a fight for Chrissy and help him keep going for longer if TJ got trigger happy.
I just dont like how some people have decided he would be terrible for the club and a lap dog for the owners already, makes no sense and only damages this great club even more with a poisonous enviroment.
We don't know what TJ wants do we? He could be a Powell fan?
On the face of it CP has one of safest managers jobs in the division at the moment. 3 successive wins, fans that love him, players that respect him, an improving squad, and a recent league winners medal.
Congratulations to Paul Elliot on receiving his CBE for his work with @kickitout. Interviewed him in April, so passionate + fully deserved. Retweeted by Kick It Out
can't see him replacing Slater - doubt he's got 1m a month to pump in
Do you think Slater has, Large? Slater used the word "transfer". Not " put in". He's lawyer , remember, words are carefully chosen. I took this to be an indication that it is not his money, and the received wisdom is that it's Kevin Cash's money he represents. But we don't know, and for some reason they choose not to make it clear.

of course I don't. Not in the slightest. I went to the first Q&A he did and not only did he say he was not very rich but when answering any questions you could practically hear the cogs going round as he carefully formulated his answer. Of course it's not his money and whosever money it is I can't see them putting in a 1m a month without at some point seeing a return on that, irrespective of how minted they are.
Let's start with the return? Well that is simples! Buying a Premier League club costs £100M + these days and The Premier league tv deal will be worth £90M next season. I fully expect the CAFC board to get there in the next few years! Even with silly money spent on players CAFC could be worth £70-80M.
People keep repeating this £1M a month thing like we are losing £12M a year... but last year's accounts state we lost around £6-7M cash (the rest was depreciation on the ground and existing players fees). Maybe the reason Mr Slater stated £1M a month cash transfers in is that costs may have risen (with certain signings and contract extensions) BUT this is CANNOT BE FOR EVERY MONTH unless the club is suddenly a basket case or maybe saving up for a big splash in the summer!
For one thing the tv deal pays £2M so that's a couple of months where no money required and for another there are some months when we are raking in season ticket monies and one off bonuses linked to previous sales.
I mention this (again!) because there is a big, big difference between losing £8M and £12M
So covering losses of £7-8M a year for 2/3 years with perhaps a big push when it is clear that the squad and club is ready will yield a pretty tasty return. Sounds like a fun ride for all of us as long as the money keeps coming in and the better players we have now believe enough to stick around. And we don't end up with a circus again.

Still want to know what's wrong with the current Chairman and major shareholder staying in the role though.
