Fully agree with NLA, if he's a friend of both CP and TJ, and the relationships prove to be both sustainable and healthy, then this could be a big positive. But I also share AFKA's reservations. Where's the money going to come from, what is he being paid to do and who is actually going to be running CAFC?
A chairmanship role doesn't have to just mean investment but we currently have lost a good CEO if he can lead and cover that that's a good starter for 10

Well that's what we've had for the last two years isn't it, a chairman with no 'real' financial investment ?
They've been trying for months apparently for someone to take the Chairman role. If it is a case of just being a figurehead, then Elliott may well be fine. Not sure i buy into the idea that he will be someone else's who is new to the table's front man.
If he is being brought in to do the job as 'executive chairman', then i'll have a doubt that he may be getting out of his depth.
I was thinking exactly this and he did a great job during his time there as the front man of their owner (Ellis I think?). Lets hope Elliott can have the same impact.
Nothing against Elliott being chairman - Stanley Gliksten's ghost would be better than Slater IMO - but I understand this is currently a sticking point: "Elliott is yet to complete financial terms with Charlton."

maybe he won't attend an interview until we agree to pay his bus fare ;-)
Something is obviously cooking behind the scenes, Elliot is fronting for someone as he is not an executive by any stretch, he is there as a figurehead.
As Large says, the question is really who is Elliot fronting for and why?

Oh Large, Mate. That's sooo distrespectul to Nathan HaHaHa
Hope so, as I think it's a positive. Waiting with interest to see if it will be a non-executive role (figure-head, TJ and CP mediator) or executive (wonder if he has the skills and how involved he will be in appointing the new senior team - see other thread).
I think TJ is slowly gaining more and more control and PE is a decent choice as front of house so that Tony can stay anonymous. I do however see this move as a positive one. I like Elliot and I think h will be very good for us.

Fingers crossed I get something positive back
...do we resurrect the old Takeover thread or begin a new one?
;-)
I think there is smoke - but no fire.
I could be wrong, but we will see.
...black.
Agree with AFKA's pros and cons but will be delighted if PE is Chair.
Don't see this as anything to do with new money as you take over and then appoint.
A little bird has just told me.
