Or is someone is trying to let something out to see if we still have lose lips in the inner sanctum

Ooh I like it! TJ & MD have a deliberatly loud conversation about Elliot in the North Upper bogs trying to flush out the suspected mole in trap 2 who, once the paperwork's done, gets on the blower to the Mirror.

Excellent and all very Smiley's People.

If it's trap 2, it will be just a smoke screen.
  • Trap 2 won't work we ain't paid the plumber

It's the guy having a pish whilst TJ pretends to phone MS whilst in trap 1

Could it just be that we are denying a story which had a fairly prominent amount of space in the Mirror, a national newspaper, rather than the wall of silence that greeted a collection of rumours on here (no matter how near the truth any of them may have been / may still be).

Sounds reasonable to me, so apologies in advance for that! ;-)

Only we choose to deny it on the NS rather than our own official site where it would get a lot more exposure. (Sorry Paul) which is perhaps the point.

  • Why did the other thread get removed?

Perhaps because Paul asked the question and, despite the padding out in the NS piece, the Chairman answered in 2 short sentences.

It just looks like a quick, polite answer to a question about a story in a national.

Apologies again southamptonaddick...the claret will wear off shortly!! ;)
  • Is it Thursday already

    Bloody hell
  • Slater didn't offer Paul the job, someone else did, however.

    You have to admire Michael Slater's straight face and calm delivery;

"His (Elliot's) credentials are there for all to see

He's much admired by the Directors

Whatever his future holds we wish him all the best

The Board has not offered him a position with the Club" (Yet) He said.

Who knows what on earth is going on at the Club, but Slater's statement neither confirms nor denies anything. Indeed, if he leaves the Club in a few months time, as some on this Forum have suggested is likely, AND Elliot is then appointed as Chairman by Jimenez and his then fellow Directors, Slater would be able to say that his statement today was true AND that he believes the Club has made a very good decision!! Brilliant!!

He's far too smooth for local Journos!!

It's entirely possible that somebody at the Club, Jimenez perhaps, has been speaking to Elliot (without making any formal offer) and that some numpty leaked it. Slater could be aware of this and yet still have made today's statement with his typical eloquence, confident in the knowledge that he was speaking the literal truth whilst coveniently misleading readers!!

    Or am I too cynical?

As nla said. Curiouser and curiouser.

  • If there was nothing in it then wouldn't Elliott have said so by now. He has yet to make a denial statement.

Alice in Wonderland time again .

  • Paul Elliott was watching today's game from the directors box.
  • Paul Elliott was watching today's game from the directors box.

If he's got any sense, he'll be off faster than a rocket then ;-)
  • From where we sit in the East, I thought I could see him.

Was he sitting behind the guy who I think was TJ ?
  • Paul Elliott was watching today's game from the directors box.

I have been in the Directors Box twice in the last 2 years and he was in there on both occasions, so very little surprise he was in there today.

Yep, he was one row behind TJ and two behind MS.

Was he sitting behind the guy who I think was TJ ?

Yes he was sitting directly behind TJ, Slater was sitting the next row down from TJ.

    Fair enough

  • TJ and PE are obviously buddies and were chatting to each other. It looked as though none of them spoke to MS.
  • Exactly what I thought, stilladdicted !

Kept looking across from the East when we lost possession yet again....
  • I like Slater.
  • Saw slater and his family get out of there car he looked as though he didn't or doesn't want to be here
  • To be fair nor did I

You could have said that about any number of families whose saturday afternoon ritual involves going to the Valley this season

    True :-)
  • My spurs mate has just text that we get a mention in the Mail on Sunday? Something about unrest behind the scenes / unhappy Valley and it mentions MS?
