  • I fooooking love shroooms the geezer in china town used to sell them a tenner a carrier bag full they were rank but boy did you trip
  • Look, eggs are eggs, we all know that and i shouldn't really be trivial as i know some good Charlton people have lost there job. Hopefully there's still a bit of room for some nonsense though.
  • Whereas on this one.....

True - Just read some of this thread
According to today's Mirror it is 'done and dusted' once they sort the financial side out. PE has 'accepted in principle'
  • I'd quite like to see what Paul Elliot could bring to the table tbh I think it could be a real interesting and potentially successful new era

Agreed - i think 'new era' is the bit that is causing most of the concern and although we may seem to be 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater', you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs and lets be honest, a new omelette was exactly what was needed 2 years ago. Maybe we're gonna end up with a nice bacon and mushroom one eventually even if it's looking like plain cheese at the moment? Better than the hard boiled egg we'd become.

This will be a contender for weirdest post of the year.

it'll have some serious competition on here
  • I love omelet's, just saying!

Funny how Greenie Junior seems so sensible - must be the mothers side....
  • Heard that this may be confirmed tomorrow.

    We'll see.
  • I can't stand mushrooms.

Well you dont seem like much of a funghi :D

It is not as imminent as some people seem to think
  • Cawley has put the following in today's SLP.I have typed and copied the article so apols if I have mispelt anything / Missed out.

Looks like his rehabilitation following the dispute with Rufus is now complete.

Paul Elliott is in the frame to be appointed to Charlton's new look board.

The 49 year old from Lewisham-an Addicks fan who began his playing career at the Valley-was awarded a CBE and MBE for his work combatting anti racism in football. He was the first black captain at Chelsea and the first black player at Celtic.

Charlton did consider Elliott for the role of Chairman in October 2012.The Addicks are thought to be keen to bring in a chief executive to replace the outgoing Martin Prothero.

  • Interesting, I wonder, if it happens, how it will shape the club from here onwards?
  • South London-born ex-Charlton players as Chairman and Manager and a London-born Captain. Nice!
  • Is he to be our Anti Racism Director ? What else does he bring to our table ?
  • Combatting anti-racism? Surely not!

Why ask that particular question. What has PE got to do with a racism issue ?

I didn't mention racism, I meant who as a person like Chris Powell has a similar passion for our club!
  • kick racism out of football, except the Boardroom of course
  • Think it sounds better than a Belgian & hopefully someone who can work with SCP
  • Fail to understand what he will bring to the club who already "fight racism in football"
  • In any organisation its usually the MD that sets the tone and does the work, the chairman is largely the "public" face. Not a bad choice (his use of the N word in his spat with RR not withstanding) but I'm more interested in who will come in as MD. That is usually where the day to day leadership will lie and needs to be a strong appointment.

He called Richard Rufus a n****r.
  • It can only be good news. Another Charlton man on the board is exactly what we want regardless of the nonsense that went on with RR.

First black player at Celtic was Gil Scott Heron's dad back in the 50s - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gil_Heron

Wow never knew that - "have you heard the word .............."

From various pics of the Directors Box PE appears to have been a regular of late and wonder whether he had been approached b4 the TO was completed. Seems a good move to me and also demonstrates that new Board are happy to take difficult decisions given previous spat with RR. Let it continue!
  • Ps I wonder how much power a Chairman will enjoy in this regime - the appointment of CEO may be more revealing!
  • He has zero experience as a chariman of a football club. That's my biggest problem when we have Richard Murray sitting there who can do the job ten times better.
  • I thought Richard Murray was going to be Chairman??????????????

Think it was a temporary appointment but others may know different.

  • don't think it says PE will be Chairman but on the Board

How much experience did Richard Murray have as a football club Chairman, before he was Chairman of Charlton? Everyone has to start somewhere!
