I say concerned supporter, you say doom monger, lets call the whole thing off : - )
I'd rather you responded to my other points about why we need a new Chairman to communicate when the one we had seem to be doing OK up to the summer. And why can't jimenez communicate with fans or the media?
And when will the planned restructure be over. Kav left in July? and it is now November.
Don't hold your breath Henners, we still don't know why Dowie left/was sacked.
I think there are legs in the story and it wouldnt surprise me if one of two others came in as well. What I dont understand are the negative vibes and why it means TJ is gaining more control. Surely the gripe amongst fans is that there is not enough info between Club and supporters and the board are too distant. Perhaps they are listening and doing something about it?.
I realise that wont sit comfortably with the doom mongers.
I think the problem some may anticipate is that a non owner Chairman, would merely be a figurehead, and would not have any answers to any pertinent questions, much like all the fans forum questions that are referred elsewhere - I call it the pothole/toilets scenario
Hmm, that's an interesting view of Pardew's appointment. I don't imagine for a second Murray appointed Pardew because the fans demanded it - he got him in because he'd become unexpectedly free 13 days earlier. Certainly was welcomed by fans but not because he was a former hero - he really wasn't! - but because his managerial record was pretty decent at that point.
Can hardly believe you're comparing the legend that is Chris Powell with Alan Pardew!!
Anyway, Powell didn't make things worse, he just exposed the limitations of the squad by trying to get them to play football rather than Parky's hoofball. I don't wish to go back to old arguments, but simply to say my view is that Powell was never going to succeed with that set of players - and neither was Parkinson. 5th place when he left maybe, but being outplayed by soon-to-be-relegated Walsall and Swindon showed what a false position that was. I'm saying that as someone who thought Parky had a raw deal, by the way.
It's a fair point that departures are of people not appointed by the board, although Peter Varney might not quite qualify for that argument. It's also a reasonable argument that Elliott might bridge the obvious chasm between TJ and Powell; only that might demand TJ being self-aware enough to recognise the problem and to think he needs a solution.
To me it looks more like having his own man rather than Slater - a reflection of his growing control - and that might not necessarily bode well for Powell of course. Playing the argument out - and I'm not saying this is what I actually think - TJ might want Powell out but sacking him would bring an apparently unwanted profile given Powell's status at the club, in the game and obviously his race. Getting a fondly regarded black chairman to do it might do the trick though.
But in my view Powell has the ability to make sure no-one has the excuse.
I'm sure that wont happen. Given that the day itself is so important especially being the 20th anniversary of CARE and with many dignitaries being there it would be crass to overshadow that with other news.
Have i missed something? Is there any evidence of this chasm? There's been a restructuring and that is ongoing. There's been a lot of uncertainty amongst long time employees and obvious bitterness that a lot of 'club people' are no longer part of the inner sanctum which is understandable and there is possibly a power struggle going on at the top but i'm not sure where this obvious chasm comes from? Personally, i think the whole of this 'doom mongering' stems from the planning permission scenario in the summer which ended hopes of Valley expansion. From then, every move the board have made has been viewed by many with a tinge of 'they are going to sell the valley for profit'. That and the alleged unpayed bills are the only two hard facts but the fact remains, we are in a far better position than we were before the new regime came on board and there isn't a lot of gratitude being shown for it because of what people believe may be the board's real intentions.
But Bexley Dan you yourself were saying in the summer the stories of untold bills, falling outs at board level etc etc were true. You said you had a source you'd spoken to who'd confirmed it all.
Only one or two people (Len Glover) have linked this to the sale of the land at the back of the East Stand which in any case happened long before the Slater/Jimenez takeover.

I know - i was questioning where this obvious chasm between TJ and CP came from. The unpaid bills - how significant they were i've no idea and i do believe therea re fall outs / power struggles but aren't there always at football clubs?. Maybe, in a funny kind of way, we know too much, not too little as to what 'seems' to be going on.
I'd quite like to see what Paul Elliot could bring to the table tbh I think it could be a real interesting and potentially successful new era
Agreed - i think 'new era' is the bit that is causing most of the concern and although we may seem to be 'throwing the baby out with the bathwater', you can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs and lets be honest, a new omelette was exactly what was needed 2 years ago. Maybe we're gonna end up with a nice bacon and mushroom one eventually even if it's looking like plain cheese at the moment? Better than the hard boiled egg we'd become.

This will be a contender for weirdest post of the year.

NICE bacon and mushroom? Not nice if you're a vegetarian...or a pig!

Rick Everitt @airmanbrown
Wonder if #cafc will use Red, White and Black Day to announce Paul Elliott as new chairman. Might be too much like joined-up thinking! "
We have been doing it for 20 years now.
It was the model copied by Kick Racism out of football.

The only way to get rid of this great big onion
Is to plant love seeds until it dies.
I think BD is saying we got a great big job to do
and that we need you and everybody who loves truth to clean up this place
