Made the trip south to see this without too much hope. Radically different team to that seen against Hull earlier in the season. Defence were excellent and, contrary to some, thought Stephens put in a decent shift (albeit with some suicidal passes!) and Hollands was magnifiicent in the second half). Of the new boys (to me) Wilson was excellent, Razak a mixture of excellent and awful, ditto Fuller and Kerkar.
Chris Solly's run to celebrate his strike with the CAFC fans the absolute high of season (so far)
I think that was a fantastic performance. CP really does know what he is doing. This is a difficult league that he is coming to grips with. He has been loyal to some players from last year but that just hasn't worked for some and he is slowly changing it by bringing in the key players. I think we are so lucky to have Sir Chris and I think we're in for a great ride this season.
I was watching Wigan v Everton on TV, laptop in front of me following the match thread on CL with a large Chang in hand as Solly scored. Fortunately my laptop survived as I spontaneously lifted my hands in delight; not a good idea with a full beer.
Had a great day yesterday and when I got home last night this result completed it, its nice not to see the moans and groans. I need to check the lotto results now.
Brilliant win. Get the feeling this could be the start of a good run. Sounds like 4-5-1 served us well and it'll be interesting to see if CP uses it at home. Onwards and upwards.
Kerkar linking with Fuller looked good to me, Stephens got better after poor start, Razzak looks capable of some good things going forward but too inexperienced to rely on. Both he and Stephens got away with howlers in first half. Defence excellent across the board, really impressive. Fair to say we grew into game and started to believe we were good enough. Sore head, lots of gloating, lots of tango baiting. Nob end lost too which is always amusing as they are the world's most miserable supporters.
I had a feeling we were starting to become architects of our own downfall, due to things not going our way and dwindling confidence but this was an important victory. It is clear we should have a lot more points than we have so far and this division is not too much for us. When every game is close you are not that far away from edging them in your favour if you improve. Hopefully, we are on the road to that. You string some results together in a league where everybody beats each other and you find yourselves up there.
I think we have to look at Wilson as an excellent signing by Chrissy and Fuller too. Razak could be the player when he settles in that elevates us.
My first away match of the season and what a game to choose! To see Solly score has to be one of the highlights of my forty years of watching Charlton. The defence was superb to a man and I was impressed by Razak - first appearance in a new team but he supported Fuller well and showed some excellent touches. Kerkar too, who I haven't been impressed with lately (good in flashes, disappears the rest of the time) put in a good shift. In fact, even though Stephens was getting to really annoy me by giving the ball away in the first half, I wouldn't want to fault anyone after that display. We've not had the rub of the green so far this season and perhaps things will even out for us now. Not that we were lucky against Blackpool but we got what we deserved for a change.
I was otherwise engaged yesterday afternoon - playing live music and drinking beer. When I got home I turned on my laptop and was just logging into Charlton Life to find out the result and read everyones comments when my younger son ambled into the room and said "good win for Charlton" - somehow it kinda spoilt the moment for me.
Had a great day (despite the fact that it was in Blackpool!!;-) )
Great performance from the whole team and was, pleasantly, surprised at how poor we made Blackpool look. We worked tirelessly for each other, scored two cracking goals & could have had more. Could just see Solly adjusting his run to get on that screamer and just knew it was going in as he hit it!! Unbridled joy in the stands as he came running along in front of us!
never have I been so happy to be so wrong. This is a tremendous win and will fill the team with confidence and pride. Chris Powell seems to have found a winning combination
Had a hotel GR8 day (despite the fact that it was in Blackpool!!;-) ) blockquote>
The only chances that Blackpool had were ones when we gave the ball away. First half pretty even, once we scored we took more control and as for Solly's goal.
Chris Solly,Solly, Solly, He's only five foot seven, And when he scores, He puts us all in Heaven.
I was as scathing about the "quality" of the team after Watford and some preceding games as anyone but you have to say that the spirit and will to learn and bounce back after difficult results is a testament to the players and management. I still think we lack enough to push on but if we can remain where we currently are then I will have been wrong and very happy to admit it. Well done Charlton.

This. As the table suggests, most sides tend to win one, draw one and then lose one. It's the way the championship is. If you can get a decent winning streak of a few games you'll find yourself catapulted up the table. Top result and sollys goal and celebration looks quality. Wish I was there
I'll admit that I didn't expect to get anything up there and am loving being proved wrong.
Defence looked very strong, midfield seemed to give it away needlessly allot but Fuller was an absolute rock and was unlucky not to score.
Abduls first touch seemed poor at times but hopefully that will come with a bit of match sharpness.
Had a mental night out which ended with us in the VIP of Sanuk with the Blackpool owner Owen Oyston who was a top bloke considering how pissed we all were and how much rubbish we were waffling.

Perhaps unaware that he had served time in prison for raping a 16 year old.
Great performance, great win. Very reminiscent of performances last year albeit against an opposition of higher quality.
The back five played as well as they did last year. Couldn't fault any of them defensively, and two of them came up trumps with the goal! Would be difficult to pick out any in particular, but I think Wilson deserves that extra bit of praise simply because at times he looks like he's struggled, but against Ince particularly he was superb.
Midfield gave the ball away a fair bit, particularly in the first half, but grew in confidence when we got a goal ahead. The five in midfield helps to crowd out the opposition. I think five in midfield away from home and against the better teams is the way to go, although I would worry about our attacking threat with Pritchard out wide. That said, Pritchard did well in his role out wide I thought, helping to stifle their midfield threat, as did Kerkar on the left.
Razak looks like he could give us something different. Fuller up front on his own was excellent. The ball just sticks with him and he makes things happen on his own. He will win us games on his own from pulling something out of nowhere.
I find that the most enjoyable wins are the ones that come as a bit of a surprise. Just shows how unpredictable this league is - and that we can lose to or beat anyone on our day. As the other topic states - the position we find ourselves in after 10 games is one we probably all would have taken. Happy Days.
Superb performance 1st half had a couple chances but it was pretty much a non event. Thought we might struggle when DAN went of as it was 4 central midfielders across the 5 midfield births. Started 2nd well got the goals and then waited for Blackpool to come at us but never happened.

Surely should have been a straight red?

On our way home hanging!

Perfect away performance.
He couldn't wait to break into 'My Way'.......
