Although I don't like 4-5-1 it looks like it might work for us. I'd have brought on BWP for Fuller and not Hulse
Disagree. BWP is not a big target man who can play up top in a 4-5-1. Hulse is.
Well done Charlton great win.
I though playing 4-5-1 meant you have a midfield to play through so you shouldn't need to hoof it but play it over the top or through the middle so somebody quick can run onto it.
A fantastic result. I think a lot of us thought 4-5-1 was the way to go after the Blackburn performance but CP went back to 4-4-2 against Watford. I really hope he sticks with 4-5-1 against Barnsley - we need to string some good results together and I think that is our best chance given that a 4 man midfield seems to get outplayed so often. We can get more expansive when we are in a stronger position, have the confidence and more Championship nous.
Great credit to CP and the lads, and thanks to all those who travelled up to cheer on the lads. I always feel that the hardy travellers represent a lot more Charlton fans who aren't able to make away trips.
Fuller living up the the Stokies' predictions - you can see why they loved him up there.
Defence was magnificent, the midfield still suspect and Fuller just great.
I wasn't that impressed with Blackpool, when they put it down the wings Solly & Wilson dealt with it and when it came down the middle Morri and Cort headed away.
Fuller makes a hell of difference he can hold up, make a pass, make room for others and has hell of a shot and as for Solly's goal he took it on the left came inside and thumped with his right and into the top corner it went, I didn't see Cort's that well as a stantion was in the way, went in like rocket.
They normally say after 10 games you have a good idea how the season will go but after the contrast of Tuesday and then today I still have no clue where are likley to finish.
Incredible. Really great result for us. Going in to this you can never be sure of the result but one thing I was certain of was that Blackpool would score. They're a team who always manage to get at least one and I thought we'd struggle to get more than them on the day. Fantastic work by the defence keeping them out - and getting us the goals.
Now I know people don't like talking about Sheffield Wednesday too much and I'd agree, but the situation on Owlstalk right now is incredible. Gary Megson had completely run out of steam, they were getting turned over by the likes of now-relegated Chesterfield and were in danger of slipping out of the Play-off spots. Then Jones came in and led them on an incredible run that culminated in automatic promotion ahead of their biggest rivals. He recruited well over summer for a newly promoted team and now it's gone a bit pear-shaped, but for them to be calling for his head is incredible. 'Undoing all Megson's hard work' apparently. We may have had a bit of a morale wobble after Watford but we didn't come anywhere near the level they have. Always bear one thing in mind - at least we're not that lot
Missed it as booking our first lads holiday, buzzing with the result, great work! Won a score on Cort anytime scorer too and got the holiday booked, good day all round!
Solly's goal was one of those ' I was there' moments, but I haven't got a scoobybwhich foot he used? and also how it managed to go in as it got higher and higher!
Listening on player, blackpool didn't sound like they were going to score. We sounded very well organized.
This is absolutely the way forward for us. I'm I'm not unique in saying it, but defence is our strength. We do score in most games but we rarely slice teams to ribbons with our flowing, creative attacking play. It was like it even last season - when you look at those big results against the Sheffields and Huddersfield they were based on stopping them because we knew they probably wouldn't be able to stop us.
It seems if we're to replicate those kind of performances this season we'll need to play 4-5-1 a lot but today shows that our organisation and workrate + our ability to nick at least 1 goal a game is still what gets us results.

Just see the goals on SSN. Suspect marking for Cort's but a beautifully crisp strike from Solly that absolutely arrows into the top corner. Bit reminiscent of Stephen's goal vs Rochdale last season.
On the train home - excellent game plan from the manager and excellent performance by the team.
We played 4-4-1-1, with Razzak in behind Fuller. We stifled their build-up play in midfield and stopped their full backs getting forward. When in possession we counter-attacked really well. Fuller occupied both centre backs and caused them problems throughout; Razzak and Kerkar both joined in the play well and both full backs got forward well on the overlap. Solly's goal was a blinder.
Blackpool had visibly wilted by the end. They threw on Ince and Kevin Phillips as they chased the game, but still got no change out of Cort & Morrison, who were well supported by Wilson & Solly.

Well done Powell and the team and I hope those up there for the night have a goodun.
Lets back it up with a nice home win please and we'll be back in mid table mediocrity which I will be delighted with.
For me I thought Fuller was outstanding and lead the line very well.
A great decision to play 5 in midfield, although we did loose the ball quite a few times.
I was fearful of Blackpool but thought they were very poor today and didn't know how to deal with us.
Special mention to Chris Solly , Solly, loved how he came running over to the Charlton fans after he'd 'unleashed' that rocket, great win lads!

Right some alcohol I think.
I'm glad you all see it now and can stop thinking we were all a bunch of lunatics lol

Can we all stop panicking again now please?
