  • most discussions centred around the decor and carpet, and it turned out the guvnor was a Charlton fan

    :)
What about the tens minutes talking about trains at London Bridge before the meeting officially started?
  • CAST were a great band.

Thanks for the offer Ken, but I'll leave this to the professionals.
  • the bar staff were very friendly too.

@falconwood_1 Did I ever tell you I met CAST, at a gig in the Adelphi in Hull, short and dull story for another time and place

    1. Free membership and automatic membership for season ticket holders surprised me.
    2. Will you also be publishing the documentation with headings in English and Welsh?

No probs, Falconwood, I thought you were a Smiths fan? as in your tag pic re :Morrissey
  • He's the lesser known 6th member of the Infamous 5, and will not appear in public without a mask and the Z emblem on his chest.

  • Hang on am I hearing this right, we can't be told what happened at the meeting unless we go to the meeting? Tell me I'm being an idiot and misunderstanding something here...
  • I look forward to the "brief statement."

Hopefully not a commentary on the underwear worn by the attendees :-)

So a brief view on last night, which was a kind of pretrust startup meeting

As PopIcon said above not an awful lot to say at this stage, it was fairly informal, and a good turn out of talents, although we probably need more of the same I think in the long run. I was asked to act as interim chair which I accepted, with Craig (se9) as sec.

Overall very positive, our focus is to get the Trust established in the appropriate manner and not release much formal stuff, policies, aims and objectives until we are ready and happy that it reflects what we think the Trust should be, this is because we are determined to make the Trust happen. We are looking closely at what other Trusts have done with interest to help in this.

I think people will be pleased with the eventual results and hopefully then can get behind it when the time is right. I must say I was very impressed generally with some of the comments and ideas on the night, from this site, and elsewhere.

I believe there will be minutes available this week, but to be honest not an awful lot to be said, plus I don't want to preempt them, and we only got about half way if that through the agenda (not a complaint).

I will say again though we are determined that the establishment of the Trust succeeds, and as frustrating as that may be for those who can't make the meetings - which are open to all, we won't be producing a word for word blow by blow account each time a meeting happens at this stage, and I would ask all those who attend to respect that please.

Progress may be slow but steady, but as I said please have faith in us to do this right your support as fans is vital. If you want ideas aired please inbox me and I will do my best to make sure they are represented at the meetings.

Next meeting is provisionally 24th July, more than likely in the Con club

  • Were any other elections / appointments made as per the agenda?
  • all in the minutes to come, but nope
  • Great work to all involved, I look forward to assisting in some way in the future!
  • I hate to rain on the parade but I doubt any of the sides with an active Trust have anything like the overhead we do. So even if, god forbid, we went down to L2 and adjusted our playing budget to suit, a trust would struggle to contribute significantly. Unlikely they could finance the academy, let alone the whole club.

  • What about Swansea?

    What are their overheads

Or Man utd, they have an active trust.

It doesn't have to be about owning or funding the entire club

who said anything about financing the whole club?

So your a maybe then? Don't knock what certain people are trying to do here, as if we have had your views back in the late 80's then we would not have a football club.

If you don't want to get involved then fine, but keep the negativity to yourself.

I think its important not to see the role of a Trust too narrowly. However talking about Swansea (an example of a very well run trust). Their situation admittedly is not the same as ours (read their history section), however it is very similar to where this club has been and could again be. Plus it shows a very interesting model of how a Trust doesn't have to be a financier. Can I humbly suggest for those who don't necessarily think a Trust could succeed, go and read all the various sites for the successful Trusts, do some research.. oh yes and come to the meetings.

    Cheers

    BR
