It's important to differentiate between the 2 scenarios which might make us leave our hallowed turf
1) The nightmare scenario where we go broke, or slide down the leagues where get taken over by a dodgy builder type who forces us to share with a rival to get hold of the ground to build houses. 2) We are incredibly successful on the pitch, with our Dubai owners investing heavily on the field. Due to the constricted site, and Greenwich Council refusing planning permission to expand the ground beyond 30,000, the ground is sold out every game, and prices go up accordingly, as the financial fair play rules mean the owners can't keep subsidising the club. The owners find a new site and apply to build a state of the art 45,000 ground for Charlton (as QPR are proposing) with masses of corporate revenue to subsidise ticket prices.
I would suspect that in the latter scenario, a majority or at least a sizeable minority of the supporters would support the new ground...
I agree.. short meeting to establish broad consensus no one is going to chisel out the ten commandments in one night, however we do need 'leadership' or coordination from day one, or for me it becomes a talking shop and we have plenty of those already, so i think we need to establish one or two positions for the interim at least.
One of the primary aims to begin at this stage is necessarily to get the trust formally established and recognised, we can't legitmately submit a lot of other stuff until this is done. The way i read it this includes an election committee, setting up communications and finance, writing a constitution and creating an administrative structure, while also agreeing our primary aims and objectives. Much of it not very exciting but has to be done.
Some of this can be split out for smaller groups to get working on, some we will need to debated and agreed as necessary
The bigger stuff we can discuss on the way and agree once we have the trust established.
As I mentioned my number 2 worry after apathy is that we get bogged down in debate and disagreement by trying to agree huge statements of intent etc
Another thing I'd like to do is touch lightly on anything positive we have learned from the previous attempt, and this is no slur on anyone involved, I couldn't commit myself at the time which I now regret, but please inbox me if I am making the same mistakes here
That's my take on it anyhow, I hope people can forgive me taking a bit of a lead on this at this stage but I am simply trying to get things off the ground, and on a realistic basis.
I will try and compile an agenda for tomorrow and circulate it in advance, plus can i suggest everyone reads drfs links kindly posted earlier and anything else they think may be useful
Congratulations for taking the initiative. I hope all goes well today. You have my full support. Living in Norfolk as I do, I can't get there today but I hope that you can move things forward.
If we will be in a position to donate funds at some point I will happily do so.

100% echo what Bing said. Off on holiday for a couple of weeks, but right with you on this.
This evening will be positive. Short, sweet and positive, because despite the good news of yesterday we still need to organise ourselves for the future.
I have reconfirmed the meeting venue tonight pls arrive for 7:30, meeting should be underway by 8, I will try and get there for 7 so anyone wanting to assist in organising please get there early. I will change my pic back on here so you can ID me.
Under 18s: it is a +25's pub normally, but we are in the back room so not a problem - however they do ask that any 18s not be in the bar for a prolonged period and certainly not consume alcohol (sorry).
Please can everyone print out anything they require for reference the links DRF put up were good (Thanks DRF) particularly the bit on trust formulation
I will also try and produce an Agenda but its fairly obvious what that will be I think. If you want any more info please do email me direct barnie_uk@hotmail.com.
I would like to proceed on the assumption that we are in favour of creating a Trust although we should reaffirm that. For reference the previous incarnation of CAST did formally do this also. I would like to achieve an appropriate mix of formality with discussion so we have a result at the end of the night, can start work and be taken seriously.
I wish all success to this initiative. I am working this evening so cannot come along but feel that an avenue for supporters to become involved in the club - or at least to be able to put across their views authoritatively and collectively - has been sadly lacking lately. In the period when we were all working towards the return to the Valley (I like to feel I contributed albeit in a small way as a member of the VIP scheme) and in the years thereafter, I really thought that we were in for a new era of supporter involvement but the initially successful symbiosis of board and fan just petered out. In those days besides the fan on the board, we had Voice of the Valley, an independent Charlton Live and the vibrancy of those associated with the Valley Party to bring together and represent supporters and one felt that there was a real (if at times reluctant) dialogue going on between us and them. Now we have only CL - thank God for you guys - but we are talking among ourselves. So congratulations on setting this up so speedily and all the best for a successful first meeting tonight.
2. Vote in favour of establishing a Trust – preceded by statements in favour/against

4. “CAST “ and things already learned
5. Roadmap for Creation of a Trust
5.1. Identify broad aim - ideally limit to 2 sentences
5.2. Identify working areas provisionally as follows 5.2.1. Meeting and Membership Administration 5.2.2. Finance – Treasurer and deputy 5.2.3. Election Committee and Chairman, should not include anyone standing 5.2.4. Constitution, aims and objectives. Working Party 5.2.5. Press & Communications, Press officers and deputy plus Chair/Vice Chair AOB
for all those who cannot attend thanks for your messages of support, but please also email me direct if your interest includes active involvement in the trust in anyway above just attending as I don't want anyone to feel they are left out just because they can't make this first meeting.

We can always carry on the chatter in the main bar after.

I chose not to put a list of names together in case people change their minds.
Would still be keen to get involved in further meetings and offer finance.
