  • In all fairness to Jimenez (can't believe I am saying that), but most of his vehicles have been real estate orientated start-ups, so when the vehicle sells the property (which is likely to be its only asset), the company gets liquidated so the proceeds can be released in a more tax efficient manner. That might be why everything he has touched has ended up off the register.
Yes, it is an important difference as commented on another thread.

Let's not demonise Jimenez just yet. It appears that Cash has pulled the cash, not TJ.

Disco, there is not proof available that will convince you but I and others believe the general thrust of what is being said for a number of reasons.

    1. There are a number of different posters saying similar things over a period of weeks. Posters on other sites unconnected to CL appear to have other sources confirming the same or similar things.

    2. Those posters have links to people within the Club and access to their views. I know this to be the case with PA, AB, Plaayer and NLA. And no, they won't reveal their sources. AB is also an employee of the Club. I choose to believe them just as you choose to not.

    3. The action and inaction of the Club are consistent with what is being said to be the situation ie the lack of signings. Even if Wilson signs tomorrow that to me indicates that SOME money has been found, not that the overall cash flow and cash supply problems have been solved completely. Remember Rangers signed a player on the day they went into administration.

    4. Peter Varney's leaving early with any statement from the man himself is in itself a cause for concern.

Thanks Henry. Please just clarify one more thing for me please though. PV hasn't actually left the club yet has he? It was my understanding that he will stick around until the end of the month to help out.

That might explain why he has not made a statement....yet.
  • No, PV is, according to Airman Brown, still working at the Club until the end of July. Knowing Peter as I do (a little) he is still working very hard to solve any problems we may have and to hand over to the new man.

But it is usual for people to say "thanks, had a great time, leaving Club in great hands, right time to move on, blah, blah, blah" but there was nothing.

If he is leaving amicably that statement could have come when the news was announced. There is no need to wait until 1 August. But there was nothing from PV at all. By itself it could mean nothing but added to the other evidence it begins to raise concerns, in my mind at least.

Did he do that the first time then?
  • Suzi, as I remember he said he was leaving for "personal reasons".
  • Evidence is airman brown talking about finishing 21st with the same manager and the same squad... When he starts talking like that then your know the money has gone mate...

    That's one DEFINITE, mascot88 !

I don't recall him saying anything. but i might be wrong. I just remember everyone speculating because he didn't say anything then either. maybe it was just people guessing the personal reasons. I just don't know think him releasing a club endorsed statement will settle anyones nerves anyway. unlikely to be written in a way to give any clues to what is going on.

I agree that it wouldn't settle nerves now but even if the platitudes were just that I would have expected them.

You know better than I how clever PDV is at managing the media and Slater appears to be no slouch on that front either.

As I said on its own it could be easily dismissed as nothing but with the other circumstantial evidence it begins to look like something.

  • I'm sure PV came on CL and thanked everyone for their good wishes.

It could also possibly looking for something and fuelling something else by suggesting it is odd without it. when in fact, it might not be.

That sounds a bit odd, but I know what i mean (even if others want to misinterpret/misunderstand and put words into what i say and shoot me down). I just don't think speculation on what has or hasn't been said, means this or that, is just opinion that is being quoted further down the line as a fact. Thousands of posts on CL over the past week have gone down this route. It isn't helpful imho.
  • Don't recall he did Suz

not a club endorsed 'statement' though which is what people are waiting for.

I know for a fact that PV appreciated all the emails, phone calls, letters and posts on CL that he received over that time, i do think he popped on here once to say thanks, once he'd left CAFC or at least nearer to his last days.

  • Wow that's a lot of panic throughout the thread. Remember the club will be run on a "SOUND FINANCIAL BASIS" or whatever he actually said. Money wouldn't suddenly be pulled now. Maybe we just won't change our budget this season?
  • Mate your wrong proper wrong

The truth is somewhere In the 2 posts
  • I'm slightly more optimistic today, because I've been told that the way the club is structured means that if the club went into admin the key players would lose what they've already put in. This means they have a strong financial incentive to sort things out in an orderly way. (it means I was wrong in assuming that Cash's money was only loans)

Let's see what happens in the next few days re players in. If the optimistic noises played to me today are justified we will see that happen. But even so we'd still want to know whether we have backers long term and who they are. But in the short term it looks like various people are trying hard to resolve the cash flow problems, which, it was pointed out to me, happen to clubs in summer a lot, because no revenue comes in and banks don't support them with overdrafts as they do normal businesses.

Up down...up down...up down....bloody hell folks I'm getting motion sickness.

  • aren't we in the midst of signing Lawrie Wilson? Movement happenning so can't be all bad. I am a little apprehensive about our finances but will not panic just yet. The euphoria didn't last very long though...

  • Wow, would ya look at this, people making baseless speculations citing no quotes or source and taking it as gospel? Colour me shocked! One ambiguous statement from the Chairman and we're going to be evicted from The Valley, sell everyone but the tea lady, Chris Powell is walking and the world is ending. This is embarrassing stuff lads, what's wrong with you? Get a grip, nobody and I mean nobody (who actually is not talking bollocks) has said we're going into administration, Wilson is a done deal so we're not bankrupt if we're buying players and this squad is already good enough to compete and compete well in the Championship next season, we don't need 10+ signings. • prague , when you say key players - do you mean MS and TJ ( and who ever else ) or their backers ?

    Here we go again!!!!!!!!!

No offence meant fella but honestly, this whole saga just goes on and on!

  • I am not sure it is.

I can't wait to see what happens... Not sure if that is good or bad.

But I refuse to worry yet.
  • Mrbacon, welcome to the forum, joined this afternoon I see (at least as mrbacon). Have you been a member before with another user name?
Forgive my curiosity, but I am a vegetarian.
  • Up down...up down...up down....bloody hell folks I'm getting motion sickness.

You and me both mate, I can assure you. Anyway I'm off on hols on Thursday so for better or worse, nothing more to come from me in the way of info for a while.
  • The most concerning issue to come out of all this, if I am understanding it correctly, is that we are currently pretty heavily reliant on the money of just one man who we don't officially even know the identity of.

So, for as much as Mr Slater and others may offer words of reassurance, they themselves are relying on his money to make good on their promises.

And this man, unlike someone like Abramovich who has made Chelsea his own 'project', has no ties to us apart from his money - which he quite understandably doesn't want to see disappearing into a black hole of debts.

So even if this current issue is resolved, we could be back in pretty much the same position in three/six/twelve months' time?

    Not good.
  • prague , when you say key players - do you mean MS and TJ ( and who ever else ) or their backers ?
I cannot be completely sure but I believe the really key players are only Jiminez and Cash. I don't think Slater has much financial clout. Richard Murray is still there.

And that's enough from me for tonight, SoundAs is turning green, and not with envy...
