With regards to what we can do as fans, the supporters trust sounds great but isn't going to aid with the immediate term problems due to the time it will take to set up properly. The worst thing we can do is rush a trust together without the proper structure or thought out goals. Maybe two groups are needed (sharing the same people) - a short term one focussed on immediate action and with the goal of helping the club somehow during this initial period, and a second one planning the long term goals and objectives of the trust - the idea being the first group would cease to exist once the trust is in place. The reason I suggest separating the two groups is purely so that the proper consideration can be given to the long term role of the trust without being sidetracked by what to do RIGHT NOW (which is what will inevitably be the main question a lot of attendees to meetings will want to discuss otherwise). Maybe the two working groups are identical but personally I think some kind of clear division between "right now" and "doing it right" is important.
Good thinking. Especially as personally, I'm not sure what our options are 'right now"
In his (excellent) summary, Henry said that KC has pulled the plug on the club.
I thought you suggested in one of your earlier posts that you have information that it's more the case that KC has pulled the plug on TJ, and that KC would resume funding if TJ leaves the club (which would presumably involve him selling his stake).
Is that correct, or have I misunderstood? Sorry if we're going round in circles.
My reading was that KC has decided not to invest in CAFC any more.
It's not clear why (to me at least) but I felt that this was more to do with just not wanting to put the money in rather than a falling out with TJ. Or it could be that the first triggered the second.
Would be great if for some reason KC changed his mind but it would still leave us with a rather fragile funding model.
There is still the prospect of other parties coming to the table, picking up the tab and onwards and upwards we go. How realistic that is I have no idea but we can hope. Meanwhile we do need, imho, to realise that there is a problem and do whatever we can to deal with the consequences.
If 'KC' is indeed the money man and is pulling the rug from under, the sooner he fucks off and takes the Sunshine Band with him the better .. he better roll over rover and let Jimi take over .. whoever Jimi may be
Lincs do you EVER think about your posts before you actually post them?!
What the reality is .. you and all us others can sit and plot, wail and moan as much as we like for so long as we like, it won't change a thing in regards to the financial future of CAFC unless, you, we, all of us can raise a million or 6 to buy the club .. this is NOT gonna happen and if YOU thought carefully, you would know this, a little humour in dark times is often a relief and release from too much trouble and woe.

No, but you bringing the lawyers down on this site won't help either.
Stop trying to impress no one with how mean you are and edit the personal abuse. It could damage the site and the Club.
I don't really understand the financial/political side of a football club. So, can someone tell me if i should be worried or not? And if not now then when should I start worrying?

You should probably be concerned rather than worried I think.

I imagine it would have taken a lot for AB to post what he did, that alone has me worried.

To my way of thinking it depends on whether you view watching football as a recreational or political way of life. It is very very rare for a professional football club to go to the wall and cease to exist. I have followed, watched and supported Charlton since 1961/62, through crisis, joyful times, mediocre times, boring and exciting times. The football on the field is what matters to me, the finances and politics are beyond my control. So ... worried? .. CAFC has been on the brink of financial catastrophe for more years than it has been a profitable, vialble 'investment' and I know that Charlton Athletic F C will remain extant long after I am dead and gone .. I worry about results on the field, not the finances, someone will always want ownership of the 'property' in an iconic club such as CAFC limited or unlimited
Why are we assuming KC has left.(If he was ever there at all!)
Airmans statement:
"Personally as of today I would be happy to start and end the season with the current manager, the current squad and finish 21st. However, that isn't living within our means, it will require funding."
Could mean, you've had your money for this season already, come back to me next July. Slater always said we will live within our means.Just because somebody's been 'gung ho' with the budget it doesn't necessarily mean the source from which it came from has gone away.
My take is that without funding, then living within our means would mean we're very much up against it on the football field. OK, lets live within our means, and battle it out as best we can on the pitch.
I don't see any 'cryptic' posts on here - the situation is obvious to anyone with a functioning nervous system....what is obvious is that the likes of AB are extremely limited in what they can say for damn good reasons.
What is even more blindingly obvious is that people need to think before they post and avoid anything that not only could be construed as libellous, but also they need to think about what such a person may think when they see the comment - because it is highly likely that they will. How would you feel if you are blameless in this mess, have just put your heart and soul (and maybe even investment) into bringing about a season of unimaginable success, only to see people slagging you off that thought you were the best thing since sliced bread only a month ago? It's not going to reflect well on us as a group of fans, is it?
So lets not go running to the press, accusing all and sundry and screaming 'board out' as it is more likely to be counter-productive than actually move things on. I would also be careful what we say to other people (particularly fans of other clubs), because they will gossip and it will end up in the papers, or at least some version of the truth will that could have damaging consequences beyond what we may have realised. We need to approach this situation rationally and calmly and make sure that when we do something it is the most effective strategy that we can employ and it targets the problem precisely without damaging those who are actually on our side....
As an optimist I'm thinking that if things are as bad as they seem and they know now that we might not be able to see the season out then they have a chance to either look for new investors or sell up.
I really can't see why they would sit tight and not do anything about it and just lose all their money and reputations.

Well said.
Let's not demonise or alienate people who, if they take action, could get the club back on track.
Things are clearly not right just but as I said before that can be quickly turned around if some money goes in from either the current owners or new investors
There is still the long term issue of how fragile the funding appears to be and that needs to be addressed but let's keep our heads and watch what is said.

I am very concerned though on the relationship between TJ MS and the mystery money man
One thing we do have, for a very long time, is a squad of players that will fight for each other and the club.
Finally a group of footballers who appear to match the passion of the fans and a manager who is basically 'ONE OF US'
The difference between the Championship and L1 isnt massive, so without player investment on a permanent basis we should do ok.
With a couple of Loans then who knows.
I'll only be really shitting it when we cant pay staff or players.

For that reason I am not going to worry or panic.
Is full of shit!
Oh Charlton Life is full of shit,
It's full of shit, shit and more shit.
