Started watching WandaVision on Disney+ today

First two episodes released today with them out on a weekly basis a bit like the Mandalorian - Its good to have the MCU back, especially seeing how things will go now the first story is pretty much over.

Can only describe their first foray into a TV show style format (Plenty more are coming) as bizarre, kind of took that from the trailers anyway but where the story is going with this has yet to truly be revealed.

Quite an interesting approach though with each episode in the form of a sitcom through the decades so the first two were in the 50s and 60s, shot in Black and White and with a proper studio audience for the laughter etc.
I've only watched the first episode, I found It a painful experience. It's obviously a cliche of early the early sitcom. Surely they cannot keep this up for the whole series? Is it setting something up?
the trailers have totally put me off of even trying to watch it.
Is it a different style of tv programme in the next few episodes ?
  • Managed about 20 mins of WandaVision. Thought it was a pile of shite and my thoughts from the trailer/advert were accurate. I like MCU but have always thought this next stage wouldn't be for me anyway.
  • Opening episode of Finding Alice tonight I found very weak. Normally love any drama Keely Hawes is in
I'm just watching it. It seems like a load of crap.
I loved Finding Alice. Loved the black humour & the fact she lives in a "smart" house but can't work simple things like lights & curtains. Maybe its because I'm not into new fangled things like heating you can operate from your phone or seeing people at your door when you are miles away at work - so can see how someone like me would get worked up about it all. Also how she is grief stricken in her own way - not wailing but matter of factly getting on with stuff, but then not behaving "nicely" to hospital staff & undertakers.

Her "husband" (obviously not married so that will be a factor regarding money, house etc) is a wrong 'un and obviously deep in debt so has done some dodgy stuff regarding house ownership.

    I'll watch the 2nd episode. I thought it was a murder/thriller.
    I didn't realise it was a comedy.

It seems that they're going through the decades in some fake type sitcom so could well stick to a similar theme for a few weeks as there are nine episodes in total - Might well be worth waiting till all have been released and then watching in a row.

As I'm a MASSIVE fan of the MCU but even at the moment, these first episodes arent really explaining anything from the previous films, nor can I see a way into the next group of them, I know it will come, just depends when so am happy to see each week what happens. For others though I can see where the frustration waiting for something to happen could come from
  • The least expected day - Netflix

Series documenting the 2019 season for cycling team Movistar. Well worth a watch if you have any interest in cycling as it gives a good background into the preparation for the tours and the team dynamics. Beautifully shot and makes you appreciate how tough the sport is.

The next Spider-Man entry should be quite interesting given the cast that have signed up

I'm presuming that the events from WandaVision and the next Doctor Strange will be the lead up to that

But yeah there are a lot of films in this next phase that I'll watch but not overly eager for

    Started watching Nightstalker on Netflix
The body count this fella racked up was unreal.
  • Surprised a few didn't like The Serpent, I was gripped the whole way through.

Just started Caliphate, first episode was promising.
Caliphate is outstanding. If you enjoy it check out No Man's Land on Starzplay.
You can add Fauda to that list as well.
Watched it last Summer and absolutely loved it, just as I'm loving Caliphate at the moment. Only 2 episodes left  :(
Tried to start No Man's Land but don't really want to pay for Starzplay so hopefully it shows up on something else soon.

Going to start Gomorrah tonight which I'm looking forward to

Anyway near the body count of John Wick?

It also shows you just how poor the overall team management and team spirit at Movistar is. Some of the incidents are laughable.

Just added this ... must take a look at the weekend.

Wouldn't know about that,  but he was as creepy as f**k.

Many serial killers manage to blend into the background undetected. This fella would have screamed 'serial killer' from the moment you laid eyes on him!

And he didn't try to hide it. How he managed to dodge the old bill for so long is unreal.

The epitome of what you would expect a serial killer to look and act like.

He is, also Devil like.. however if presented in a different story/ or film he was quite good looking too, was adored so had something about him but to the viewer as he is a serial killer and all the demon talk instantly makes you relate to that.
  • Had no idea what MCU was so just googled it. Bloody comics ! I stop reading them was I was about 8 or 9. Dont some people grow up.
What an odd person, loads of people are into comics/ Mavel/ DC

Evem though i have watched pretty much all the films and enjoy them even i had to google MCU, maybe sometimes its best to be quiet Golfie everyone is entitled to their opinion and doesn't harm anyone.
  • Nothing wrong with comics / graphic novels ... whatever you want to call them.

Got loads of them myself, although not the MCU titles.
  • See, I wouldn't ever read a comic but I am partial to the marvel superhero films

The team was set up for conflict given the lack of leadership - Quintana and Landa obviously don't get on. The meltdown at Soler for not following team orders was pretty comical.

There seemed to be no clear strategy at times.

It’s not comics though is it, it’s films and now tv series.

The least weird thing about him but still weird was that when he done himself up he almost had a model look to him. Then you saw his teeth and eyes behind the sunglasses and he looked pure evil.
  • 'The Bay' .. old fashioned English cops and killers series
  • I watched a 5 part British drama series called Collision made in 2008 on Prime. I must have missed it when on terrestrial TV. A good watch.
  • Surprised a few didn't like The Serpent, I was gripped the whole way through.

    You won’t regret it!
  • Have binged all four seasons of The Crown.

    Quite enjoyed it.

    My musings are:

much preferred the queen and Philip from series 3/4 to the first two series.

The actress playing Diana is poor.

Gillian Anderson doesn’t play Thatcher very well.

    Princess Anne is good.

missed bits as was looking up to see if various things shown actually happened!!
  • I’m watching From the Earth to the Moon (HBO) can’t recommend it enough :)
  • I preferred Tobias Menzies to Matt Smith as Prince Phillip but much preferred Claire Foy as the Queen.

Olivia Colman is great but, especially in the 3rd series, not quite right as the Queen for me.

Agree the one who plays Princess Anne is great, thought the lad who played Charles was great too.
  • We finished series 2 of The Bay tonight & found it one of the best that ITV has produced for some time.

Decent characters & well worth a watch.
