  • @tangoflash I doubt if we could afford AJ's wages
That's one of the reasons I thought it's a no-go. Then again, I didn't think we would have been able to bring in all those players this season and who's to know what we really can or can't afford?
  • If we signed Crespo I'd be over the moon, purely because I've signed him on every fifa since about the year 2000 for Charlton
  • I don't think that Rhodes is unrealistic, would be a similar shock signing to when Mackail-Smith went from P'Boro to Brighton, everyone thought he'd go to the prem. Go get the best young English striker out there in the lower leagues please SCP!
  • What's happened to the Jason Puncheon rumour? I'd give Haynes and NGas a go in the last couple of games as well. Both have something to offer but no doubt a proven goalscorer alongside Kermo next season should be one of our priorities to battle it out with BWP. Hope BWP comes good again but he now looks like the player i thought he was before he signed for us and had that hot spell.

Don't make me get my Football Manager signings out!!!!!

Champions League winners within 5 years

Chris Powell will probably do better... ;-)
  • Jay Rodriguez is out of contract
  • Rhodes plays for Scotland @HeavenSE7
  • Rodriguez, Fryatt and Rhodes would all be quality aditions! But all 3 together would be better ;-)
  • Doubt rodriguez will leave burnley for a team in the same division. His a Burnley lad so may only leave if a prem team come in
  • 27 year old Aleksandrs Čekulajevs played for Narva Trans in Meistriliiga in estonia 46 goals last season and now moved to maltese champions valetta in february and scored 4 in 4 so far, but could be worth the 50k etc as an outside bet

Don't mean he's not english though. He was born in Oldham. Neither of his parents are scottish either. He moved there as a baby and was brought up there when his dad was playing pretend football for Dunfermline.
  • According to BurnleyFC.com Rodriguez signed a two year contract in 2011. I suppose they may want to sell to get some money, but one would think it'd a good couple of million.

I hope to god we don't get Kenny Miller, someone who drops deep and fucks the midfield up, unlike Yann who can stay on his last man or drop deep and find a quality pass. 25 grand a week for 10 goals a season in the champ is madness, fair play to him getting that but gees.... Get a player like that and we might as well play bankrupt bingo.

BWP will be a factor next season, but equally I don't think this team can carry a non harrying striker in difficult phases next season.

Harry Kane has developed into an excellent champ footballer in just a couple of months at Millwall. Keogh finally starting scoring after about four years is virtually all down to Kane. At first Kane seemed to struggle working out champ defenders, thinking he could play straight through them, and could barely win a ball in the air let alone it sticking it to him. Now he's making excellent runs inbetween full backs and defenders, actually winning headers against beasts like Morgan at Leicester, and scoring some very good goals in tight situations. If Spurs sign more strikers, a season long loan would be a steal.

Need a big centre forward who holds it up. Kevin Davies has probably past his shelf-life at Bolton and would do a job for a season.
    Um our probable POTY Kermorgant?

    a) Solly will win POTY
    b) Kermy wasn't past his shelf life, he (amongst his billion other talents) saw the future and realised Chris Powell would require him at Charlton. He then decided he had to miss that penalty in order to make maintaining a place at Leicester untenable, and therefore become Charlton's star player
    c) All of the above is mostly true.

  • Like Mendonca, Kermorgant is going to become a true fans favourite where we all say in the future "I just wish we got him when he was younger".

You are so so so so right. For me (I am 21 so don't have as good a memory as many of you) he is already one of my favourite players by a country mile. The term man-crush could be applied if you wanted to accuse me of such a thing

  • I hope that Nike next season give Kermorgant a cape accessory to go with his shirt
  • Powell from MK Dons

thats not a bad shout - only 21, quick and powerful and looked their most threatening player when he came on at the valley.
  • Don't know whether it was political with Benson but i am sure he would have scored more than Wright-Philips

  • There is nothing wrong with rating BWP based on his goals and not his all round game as imo he is a goal scorer 1st and a footballer 2nd

Yann is a footballer 1st and a goal scorer 2nd

You can not have a team full of ballers without a goal scorer

agree - and I'd like to add that BWP also leads our assists chart this season so isn't necessarily a 'selfish' goalscorer. That said, we definitely need some quality additions to our strikeforce.

Hypothetically speaking, who would be cheaper - Jordan Rhodes or Charlie Austin?
  • Whatever with bwp. We need a striker who has a high number of goals scored to chances given because there wont be many next season.

This is exactly what I agree with. You can score 100 goals a season but if you have 1,000 chances that is pathetic. Like bromleyjohn says we need someone with a better ratio, we can't miss easy chances next season, it could be the difference between mid table/relegation or mid table/playoffs
  • Well unless we are so rich you can dream of a striker who's goals to chances % is amazing

These players cost fortunes to buy and pay ,

So I think your expectancy needs to drop into real world for a bit , the 1st quality signing will let us all know our intentions on what we are aiming for , imo it will be to maintain champs status

  • I was out with Harry Kane's brother on Saturday, he enjoys it at Millwall (mainly
because he's playing and scoring) but doubt he'll be there next year.

If Spurs miss out on CL he could very well stay at WHL but half the Championship (and us) have enquired, as well as Reading since they secured promotion.

That might be the plan for next season but no doubt they'll be aiming for another promotion after that. Any quality signings will be players that can hopefully step up another level in time.

Last summer we needed players that could compete in the Champ. Eventually I think we'll be looking at players for the Champ that could compete in the Prem.

You're right Benson totally out-scored BWP in a lower division!!!!!!!!

  • @tangoflash thankyou for that, I knew Rhodes was playing for Scotland, but then that would be like saying Matty Holland was Irish...

  • I think a few people have had too much fizzy pop and Championship manager. We've got four forwards that have played at that level. There's no way this board will be repeating the sins of their predecessors and busting the budget on some of the ridiculous suggestions. If players have the choice: and most of the decent ones do, they'll plump for a premiership side or at least a parachuting side that can pay the bucks, not a league one team. If we'd done this exercise at the start of September nobody would have Kermo on the list, but he's been our best acquisition, so let's just wait and see and hold off on the ambilition to sign Del Piero on a free or pick up some middle aged bloke that's scored every eight minutes in the Armenian second diviion.
