  • Any of the this lot please Powell: Jay Rodriguez, Ross McCormack, Lee Barnard, Fryatt, Simon Cox, Simeon Jackson, Jon Daly, Austin, Ebanks-Blake, Rhodes.
    ;)
  • Yep. Stop slagging off BWP. His goals ultimately took us up. Whether another striker in his place would have done that is immaterial and plain conjecture!
  • It isn't hard to get yourself into a position in his case. Stand in level with the last defender (half the time he is 10 yards in ahead of them) and wait for Yann to flick the perfect ball off a header to you. Yann and the rest of the team make it so so so so so easy to be our centre Forward. They could make Lisbie look like a premier league pro.
  • Although in his defence his goalscoring record at Plymouth was undoubtedly exceptional considering the team they had... So maybe I am being a little harsh... But from what I've seen I have been pretty disappointed.
  • 1 name....Jordan Rhodes

have to agree with the lisbie bit. Wright-phillips does remind me of him when it comes to his lack of confidence in a one on one situation. lisbie used to get into those positions and blast it straight at the goalkeeper or not do anything and then the defender/keeper takes the ball of him. BWP is a better player than lisbie but the confidence issue in those situations is exactly the same.
  • Huskaris, all entitled to our oppinions. Will be very intersting to see whether BWP can cut it in Championship. I'm just not sure either, but he certainly deserves the chance
  • Rhodes, Ebanks Blake, Austin, Cox, Baldock. Any of those.
  • Rhodes will surely end up at everton or the likes? Leicester are a champ team that are minted, maybe there if the champ.

    Your absolutely right.

BWP only scores 22 goals, absolute waste of space.

Powell better make sure he signs a 40-50 goal a season striker or else.

  • Rhodes would be a fantastic signing but can't see it happening. Although I doubt Brighton fans thought they had a chance getting Mackail Smith last summer either

Interesting that Mackail Smith has hardly set the Championship on fire, his record in that league for Peterborough and Brighton is not overly impressive. Rhodes could be the same.

Yet again. Goals goals goals, that's all we care about. I think we should sign Howard, he has scored way more goals than Hamer this year.

I think we should sign Lisbie as well, he has more goals than Kermorgant this year, so lets sign him surely?

    McLeod anyone?

If you judge a striker just on goals scored then you are a fool.
  • Really cannot in a million years see Rhodes coming to us.

I do think we are going to need some real pace up front in partnership with Yann next season.

BWP has been great for us but do have reservations about him at Championship level. Would see him as an invaluable squad member though.

And of course you being an expert are absolutely right. I am a complete numbskull.

Why bother to have any strikers as scoring goals is not important.
  • Yeah much better we have strikers who don't score but play well overall. Oh wait, we did two seasons ago and missed out to Norwich and Leeds who had 30 goal strikers.

Rarely does a team win a league without a goalscorer.

We have the balance spot on, BWP and Yann is the best partnership we've had for a long time.
  • No Schlupp for Leicester tonight. Is he injured or suspended?
  • Goals = points and points mean prizes!

    (according to Bodmas)
  • there are few really heavy and consistent scorers in the Championship this season .. Lambert is well out on his own with 27, Vaz Te has 20 and McCormack of Leeds 18 .. pound for pound, minute for minute, I'd wager that Le Fondre is the most consistent , we should have signed him three years ago but didn't have the cash .. now, he's going nowhere
  • Need a big centre forward who holds it up. Kevin Davies has probably past his shelf-life at Bolton and would do a job for a season.

  • Marko Futacs from Portsmouth would be a good addition.
If only for the fun we could have making up a song for him.
  • You just described the difference between a targetman and a poacher
BWP has been playing well, just not scoring as much as he was.

Rhodes will bottle it at a higher level
BWP and Kermit are good enough

Not really sure where id strengthen in the first team, not just any1 will get into the team anymore, which is a good dillema.

    Like Yann?
  • BWP misses as many chances as he takes (look at Sat, should have had a hat trick before half time) and we cannot afford that in the Championship, when you get a chance in that league you need to take it or we will be punished
  • Forte from Southampton who banged in a hat trick against us for Notts County. I reckon he could beef up our attack.
  • Rhodes - too expensive

I'd look at Baldock (W Ham) or Le Fondre (Reading - prob not Prem material & they will need to sign some other strikers)
  • Baldock is miles down the starting list at West Ham so he may want a move.
  • But then surely there's a reason that baldock is way down the pecking order, he might simply not be good enough
  • If baldock is down the pecking order behind Carlton cole then he must be crap
  • The main reason he is behind Cole is that Allardyce loves to play hoof ball and Baldock isn't exactly tall at 5'7 so he just doesn't fit into West ham's style of play at the moment.
