  • So we can invade the pitch after the trophy is presented then ;-)

It's pretty hard to invade at the valley anyway as there's always a load of stewards for the final game. Can't see it being a problem.
  • I wonder how many more police horses they'll have now, it's already overkill with the whole policing thing already
  • Whilst I am disappointed at the FAs stance on this (but suppose I can understand for safety reasons).........I will be absolutely gutted if the presentation doest take place.......being selfish I have never seen our team lift any silverware whilst I've been in the crowd.........I was one of the few who couldn't make Wembley and had to watch on TV........and before @TCE says anything about my age I was not at the FA cup final in 46/47!!
I'm coming down for the final game and this will make my day....and put the icing on the seasons cake for me....getting back in work around the same time as the season started and the success of the Addicks all in 9 months!!
So Please don't go on the pitch.................let me see silverware presented for the first time.....LIVE!!
    Thanks for reading
  • this is the same fa who have a trophy that includes all clubs yet they insist on now moving it to a time and day when none of us can watch it.

    Pathetic
  • If thats the request then we should follow it,

The carlisle Invasion was all about the moment, the moment that we sealed a return to the good times after 6 years of pure crap,

The winning of the championship is not one game that decided our fate, which Carlisle was in some respects, I know that in real terms it was the culmination of a hard season works, but that game was pivoital in that,

    look at the circumastances

We were all aware that at some stage during that game Sheff Utd were losing as was Sheff weds , yet we were only drawing,

Then Weds equalised and we still knew that if we scored 1 goal we would win , you just knew it

Then it happened , and to be fair The ground at Carlisle was suited to an invasion, the lay out the corners being open, that gate that was left open in the far corner

The fact that the pressence at the game was prodominatly male 24-40 year olds, Although i did see people with their kids here was many that would normally have them that didnt

I think that most if not all the people i spoke to before the game knew that Saturday was our day, you could sense it, Carlisle a nice historic town, with the red army in it knowing our history of events at Carlisle

That was all about the moment , in business and its replicated in football more often you talk about momentum and being in the right place at the right time to capture the moment and when you see that gap that you take it

we did, We took the moment and we shared it with our players

now lets share theirs by following the wishes of those that have bought us this success and allow the players to have a presentation in the manor in which they deserve

It is as much about them now as us and in fairness its their trophy their moment

Me i am up for standing in the nth upper surrounded by commerades and taking that moment to reflect that

Charlton Athletic are in the end of the first phase of recovery

I am going to start to dream of what could be in the future

  • Can't believe the FA have acted so fast, I thought they were still dealing with the pitch invasion in the white horse cup final.
  • Haven't read all the responses to Ketman's message so someone may have already commented but happens if we win on Saturday and Sheffield Utd don't. We all know what that means, yes? Obviously we won't be presented with the trophy so what's to prevent another celebratory invasion this week. I'm not suggesting that's what should happen but it's just a thought.

    Thats pretty good argument mate..
  • Jeez - I thought this was going to be an announcement that we'd be playing at Selhurst Park next season.
  • Looks like the fa will be fining at least 10 clubs over the next few weeks then. Should be concentrating on getting a manager for our national team - might help. Terwats.

  • Perhaps, the crowd need to be subdued before the presentation. How about a minute's silence in memory of the brain dead people at the FA.
  • Damn!
Was going to wear my Angelina Jolie all in one suit & leap off the North Upper too.
Suppose that can wait till we win the Championship when the Club can afford to pay the fine.
    :-D

    Stay off you crazy kids!

  • For the next season at least, we are playing the football league, so what's the FA got to do with it I don't know. They have more important thing to sort out like putting the FA cup final on at 5:30pm.
  • Man Utd seem to win the Prem every year without the fans feeling the need to invade the Old Trafford pitch......
  • Man Utd seem to win the Prem every year without the fans feeling the need to invade the Old Trafford pitch......
they are all cardboard cut outs though Chirpy

  • But I've bought a Parka from 1972 for the special day :)
  • I'm confused, thought his dad was the guy who wrote Battle for The Valley.
  • Man Utd seem to win the Prem every year without the fans feeling the need to invade the Old Trafford pitch......
there's hardly a ground in the country their fans haven't invaded the pitch on including ours

  • I remember the pitch invasion last time we left division 3, great scenes, moments that have stayed with people all their lives, and even my old man who was a copper getting on the pitch.
  • I don't think anyone would of done it for the last game anyway - it just don't happen at the valley.
What pissed me off is the threat of a fine and encouragment by the FA to punish the fans at Carlisle.
The amount of pitch invasions you see every year this time of the year.
Do they all get this reaction from the FA?
Chirpy who gives a flying one about united? They win things all the time. They could not begin to feel the emotions we did Sat. Plus remember their cup game at villa few years back!! On the pitch after every goal.

  • Strip out the FA bit and just read it for what it is:

You've had your fun, but please don't repeat it again in the remaining games.

Which, let's face it is fair enough.

ANY pitch invasion will incurr the club huge fines whatever game it is, Wycombe, Preston, or Hartlepool, just think we need not sabotage our own Party on the Final Day. As for Carlisle, how Charlton are being held accountable for Carlisle Police & stewarding at the end of the day is beyond belief but then again maybe not is the FA after all.
  • Does anyone invade the pitch more than Man Utd?

The club has requested for us not to do it so we won't, although there will probably be all sorts of weirdos in riot gear around the pitch anyway, who will no doubt be paid by our club.

Shame, although the chances would've been higher for Wycombe at home if we wrap up the title there rather than the last day. PNE away also has a threat.
  • Does anyone invade the pitch more than Man Utd?

No idea, just thought I'd throw it out there.
  • ....
The amount of pitch invasions you see every year this time of the year.
Do they all get this reaction from the FA?...
I suspect they do. It must be quite a money making industry for the FA. We are only aware of this one because it's our club. Everyone who was there at Carlisle knows that it was all good natured; it was all about celebrating that great moment of release, about saluting our heroes and just enjoying the moment, but that doesn't matter to the FA. I guess their arguments are about needing consistency, and "what if Carlisle fans had taken umbrage which let to an unpleasant situation". Ridiculous arguments nonetheless but I'm sure that's what they'd say. For me though, it's just about the FA being absolutely desperate to control everything. In doing that they are guilty of taking the game away from the people.

That said, I wouldn't want anything to happen that meant we couldn't see the team with the trophy. So I hope people go along with what they say on the final day.
  • Southampton last year - all 25 thousand were on pitch and nothing was done.

It now appears that the FA don't mind diving, cheating, fighting or drug taking but, never, ever run on the pitch and show any passion or emotion when your team has just won promotion after probably the most hardest of fought league 1 campaigns ever!

    Shame on you FA!

However, we should also heed there warning and not let it happen again this season.
  • Well done to Charlton, for handling this in the right spirit.
  • I get a feeling that every club gets a standard response for a pitch invasion. We're not being treated any differently.

Isolated stories of slapping about the OB at Carlisle probably hasn't helped either.

Let's just enjoy it against Hartlepool.
  • Great post NLA. Wont happen at the valley anyway due to logistics and the demographic a bit different. Probably more likely at preston though not now given saturday. We will be well wrapped up so we've had our fun lads!! As NLA said we have had the buzz and spontaneous moment peak.

Reckon we should get a paypal site up for the impending carlisle fine, i'd happily make a contribution in return for those memoriea!
  • we should do the paypal thing, the coverage it should get should shame the FA!
