Millwall have finished in the top half in 5 of the last 6 seasons, and in the other season they were 13th. Possible - technically yes. Probable? No I don't think so. Anything above about 17th or 18th would be doing very well for me, aiming/expecting any better than that seems optimistic to the point of naivety.MuttleyCAFC said:

I don't have qualms about NJ (any more!), nor do I doubt the owners intentions and willings. But we're a relatively small fish in a much, much bigger pond now and it is going to be a tough season.5 -
I think we can do very well but i think very well for us in our first year back up would be being safe from relegation with a few games to go. Last season the top promoted side were Portsmouth, 16th with 54 points. Matching that would be great for us.MuttleyCAFC said:

I don't think we'll be finishing above Millwall who in recent seasons have regularly been getting 66+ points and flirting with the play off spots.3 -

I'd take 16th today no questions asked. Think we'll come out the traps flying but I think reality might set in against the bigger sides. Wouldn't be surprised if we took a hammering at Sheffield United.0

I'm pleased with the Rob Apter signing though my first thought was he might be a bit of a luxury seeing as we have Tyreece Campbell. I now wonder if Tyreece is now surplus to Nathan's plans ?
Generally, all in all I am delighted with the signings this summer. They show real intent from the owners to put CAFC into the top rank of Championship clubs this summer.0 -

Apter is described as a ''right sided midfielder', I m o he is more of a winger, I can't see a Nathan side with two wingers .. I don't think Tyreece will be a starter this season, but, of course, he is still very young and is developing as a player .. as ever, we will seeSteven81 said:

Adding a bit of science to this, as recently did a course in negative thinking. What we can see here is catastrophe about to unfold in front of our eyes- at least until October when we might sneak our first win:
Think it will start with 0-3 v Watford.

Feels like it's been positive, though tbh I always feel this way after new signings and I haven't kept up with the transfer business of other sides.
I imagine we'll be seeing some outs soon but adding another striker/midfielder would be what I'd like to see next.0 -
Yes I will correct you as you are wrong. All the Luton signings have a lot of champ experience. Sonny Carey has a season of champ albeit relegated. Kaminski - Same as Bell
Burke - bag loads of Championship experience
Carey - almost 50 games in the champ?
Tanto - inexperienced
Apter - inexperienced
Costello - only ever played in the championship
So what you've said isn't really close to being true to be honest.
There are injury concerns, but they've all had a fair bit of championship experience bar 3, and 2 of those 3 are expected to be able to make the step up, that's why we have paid so much.

Only 7 so far and Kaminski, Burke, Bell and JRC are all proven Championship players. Burke and Bell were promoted with Luton, and Luton signed Kaminski to be their PL GK. JRC has never played in L1.3G said:Correct me but I think we've signed 9 players that are all unproven at this level.

Carey has Championship experience. Only Olaofe and Apter are stepping up for the first time.1 -

I think Campbell will be a starter this season, think Apter is a bit of a utility player who can fill a few roles whilst also replacing Small - Ultimately one aspect we all disliked last season was the amount we relied upon Campbell / Small as our quick / wide players.Lincsaddick said:

Think it’s a stretch to include Henry and Kedwell in the outs really, the latter was an U21 player and the former spent all the time Jones was here out on loan. If you include academy outs it’s far more than 7, even if the released and retained list was never published1

The best bit is that when you look at all those who have left the only one you would say is a real loss is Small. We're not having to flog our best players to try and fund the rebuild, the squad IS improving but it's building on the promotion squad not tearing it up and starting from scratch.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

agree with the above, obviously not seen any of them play - but they come with good pedigree and most are a good age.
Not sure Small would be in our starting XI now2 -

i'm feeling optimistic coz i spoke to another couple of millwall fans yesterday who were worried - again, both don't rate coburn and couldn't believe u paid £3.5m + on him and said ivanovic was good but not great - you've never scored many goals i guess so looks like that won't be changing - its gonna be tough but i'm confident NJ can mould a functional, hard working team probably similar to you lot and thats got you to comfortable upper mid table - i think we need to sign another player who takes players on and creates and i think we need to push the boat out for the right player - if we do, i think we'll be fineMillwallFan said:

Which bodes well for next season. But it’s a funny old game as the great man once said so we’ll see.
