  • Incidentally, for those behind the goal, should Hamer have saved the 1st, as I couldn't tell from my angle? Judge should have been closed down to prevent the shot as well.
  • NSS on the mark
  • A game of two halves if ever I saw one. Started to have flashbacks of our last year in the championship after that woeful first half and then they gave us hope with 2 early goals in the second but the damage had been done. We lacked that bit of quality in the second half to get something out of the game and hopefully CP uses the depth of the squad to rotate certain players that looked off the pace today. One other gripe is Waggys play acting once again. Looked lively in the second half but still rolls around trying to get non existent free kicks and that is starting to annoy me. Thankfully they have some time to prepare for the next game and keep up the promotion charge as after todays performance you can certainly say it ain't over till the fat lady sings!
  • Sullivan is no better than Hamer so he's not going to be the answer. Hamer has had two poor games in a row so needs to get it together fast.
    Love to see Randolph back.
  • LETS ALL BE HONEST WE AV BEEN SHITE THE LAST FEW GAMES BUT WOULD YOU RATHER BE TOP 10 POINTS CLEAR OR SITTING IN THE CHASING PACK BEHIND US , ITS IN OUR OWN HANDS ,NSS YOU WORRY TO MUCH SON.
  • Four things:
    - I think tiredness played a part and who can blame them, 8 games in 4 weeks was it?
    - I would suggest a change in midfield, namely Hughes who I think is incredibly useful to this team when he is played, and a player on loan
    - We were against an in-form team, you can't win everything, it may feel like the end of the world right now but that's only because the bar has been raised so much this year.
    - If this is our blip then I think we'll be ok.

i know son, but you and me have seen it to many times, I mean it mate if we blow this I dont think I would ever forgive them.
  • Poor result and a poor first half. County took some of their goals really well and others with our help!! Spirited second half with BWP our best player followed by Waggy. The rest can go home and get a good nights kip. Despite the poor result, there isn't a team in this league that wouldn't swap places with us and fans of all those tams would gladly have accepted todays performance to be in our shoes. So now is a time for mentally tough players and supportive fans. Keep believing.
  • Hamer - Man of the match?!

I could keep goal better than that and I am fat, 46!
  • Think we should get that da gea guy in on loan.

In all seriousness, unacceptable from hamer today.

  • We won't blow it.
If nothing else, do you really think SCP would let that happen?

We will all be sat there, in the sunshine, watching JJ lift the cup and SCP wipe the tears from his lovely eyes come the Hartlepool match.

    Alright? Good.
  • i know son, but you and me have seen it to many times, I mean it mate if we blow this I dont think I would ever forgive them.
THE PLAYERS TO ME LOOK A LITTLE NERVY THEY JUST NEED TO STEADY THE SHIP AND GRIND POINTS OUT IE I WOULD HONESTLY PLAY 5 ACROSS THE MIDDLE AND MAKE OURSELVES AS HARD TO BEAT AS POSSIBLE FORGET THE FANCY BUISNESS ITS ALL ABOUT POINTS NOW MATE.

  • Now we have Haynes and Green out and Jackson obviously not fit it must be time to utilise the loan market for a wide man ( or two).
  • Losing 2 straight home games is desparately disappointing especially conceding 6 goals when we have been so solid at the back all season, but with at least a 10 point lead over the pack no need to panic quite yet. However if we fail to beat Scunny & Yeovil and then lose at Huddersfield it really will be squeaky bum time.
  • I don't buy this resting players argument. This team is not Citeh, where you can swap Barry for Milner or Ballotelli for Tevez. That's why there was no point bringing Clarke on. Poor Taylor had an uncharacteristic mare today.
  • First half, piss poor. Started the second well. We were 80/1 to win the match at half time and. 25/1 for the draw. Pulled two back, the BWP gets taken out on the edge of the 6 yard box by their centre half and nothing given. How the east stand lino didn't see it, I don't know. They would have been down to 10 men and a pen to us. We then lost our way and I think shorty afterwards was the time to make a sub.

Anyway, this is Charlton and we never do things the easy way.
  • Posting without reading.

How do you describe that first half? a decent strike once again for the first goal with Hamer perhaps unsighted so going for it late. The other 3 goals, in varying ways, were down to a defensive comedy of errors. A free header, Morrison and Hamer playing after you Claude and general backing off reminiscent of Mc Carthy or Hudson at their worst.

At least we had the spirit to come out and win the second half rather than completely capitulate and for someone who can't cross according to the Charlton Life cogniscenti Waggy didn't do at all badly.

There are still 11 points in real terms between us and thirs so hopefully we can recover from this nervous patch and stagger over the line to ONE AIM!!!!!!

Nice to meet up with Weegie and Mr Weegie.

Posting before reading any previous posts. Can somebody tell me who the 11 players were mascarading as Charlton Athletic in the first half today? If Tuesday wasn't a wake up call the first half today certainly was! Much better 2nd half which we won 2-0 but what was Hamer and Taylor thinking about early on? Can't see the players marks thread at the moment but both will be getting 4's from me. Time for a shake up SCP. Hamer, Taylor and Jackson to the bench Sullivan, Cort and Russel in against Scunthorpe.
  • Good interview with Chris Powell on OS
  • We'll go up... just coughing and spluttering like a tired old dog by the looks of it. With as much glamour that Charlton usually exude!
Totally agree. Results like today will soon be forgotten when we are beating palace next year.

    :-)
  • I hate days like today. Weekend ruined and then i have the missus in the ear trying to cheer me up which winds me up even more. Would rather be left alone to drown the sorrows.
Tell me about it. I posted earlier that when I got home Mrs Incorruptible said: ''Never mind, dear. You can't win every game.'' Shut up, woman. I know you are only trying to help. But don't. It has the exact opposite effect !!!

My missus has just gone upstairs to watch TV cos in her words I'm a 'miserable bastard'. She just doesn't understand.

Or she might just be on the rag.

Out for dinner and trying not to ruin my hosts evening
  • Was a load of shite that 1st half , we didn't deserve to be 2 down at that stage then the comedy of it all to be 4 down I was shocked

But 2nd half we were better much better but still

    Jacko
    Hollands
    Dale
    Morrison
    Taylor
    Wiggins
    Were way below par

If we had got that pen when we had just scored our 2nd we would've won the game

When we didn't powelly should've taken dale and jacko off and put Russell and Clarke on and gone 3 up top

He never we lost move on

10 clear a weeks rest before a tough a way game

Leave the wrist slitting and the bollox being spoken on pages 1 and 2 to the suicide masses who ain't happy unless they are proved right that we ain't going up and Powell is out of his depth

for a player that doesn't help out defensively, green doesn't play and we let in 4. go figure.
  • Welcome to the 2012 Charlton choke!
  • A poor first half - I think Notts County scored from virtually every shot on goal. Nevertheless the second half disply was much better and we could have gotten something from the match - a stonewall penalty not given.

But whatever, one match less and we still have a healthy lead over both Sheffield clubs.

    Paradise postponed.
  • Really if you havent played you should just sit at the back and nod...
No, but you should have just a tiny bit of faith in a manager who has worked absolute miracles this season. I have faith that Chris Powell doesn't send out a bunch of complacent players to represent my club.

    Fair enough
  • Seems the only people to come out with any credit are Green, Haynes BWP and Kermorgant!
  • Don't agree with those that say Hamer was to blame for the 3rd goal. Taylor should have dealt with it.
