im not that bothered about your article NS to be honest. I just think you've got a bit of a cheek coming on here and trying to publicize your story and then arrogantly defending against criticism. I'm sure you probably think that any reaction is a good reaction, but you're wrong - your insulting the people you are supposed to be building an affinity with and asking questions on behalf of.
I'm not insulting anyone and don't buy your 'any reaction is good reaction' line either. The original article is no different from any other gleaned from a press conference IMO and most of them haven't managed to cause any kind of stir the way this one has, nor do they seek to either. Some people on here think it was a negative subject to raise and to me that criticism is not something I've complained about once, so to claim I'm 'arrogantly' defending myself against it is laughable.
When Bexley Dan brings up the Millwall blog from a couple of weeks ago though that to me at least shows there is a slightly different agenda with the criticism from some people.
To clarify yet again why it came up though and was a legit question to ask - Danny Haynes said after Tuesday's game he was fed up of people moaning at BWP.
Are you suggesting then in future when issues like this come up they should be completely ignored and not raised at all in case it upsets people on here?
and as i state again. Danny Haynes did not say people were booing but you added that when Chris asked "what criticism ?" .
Therefore it comes across as very negative and that you were stirring up between the club and the fans when in fact nobody mentioned booing but you.
Apologise and be done with it. It takes a man to apologise and admit when they are wrong.
You keep saying it was a legitimate question to ask, some of us on here disagree that it was a legitimate question. In addition there were/are loads more interesting and legitimate questions you could've asked in the opinion of many. Ones mans 'legitimate' is another mans chite stirring.
I can't believe this thread has got this long on this non-issue. It's a journalist's job to ask questions and report an angle. The guy's just doing his job. The vast majority of NS articles are a damn sight better than you find in the SLP, for example, and all this one says is that SCP has confidence in BWP and all his strikers. It's a non story enlivened with an angle.
Quick, we need to alert Leveson, won't somebody think of the children, etc...
Beds I would only apologise if there was anything to apologise for. There isn't.
Seth - there was no stirring but then again you clearly disagree. We are going to have to agree to disagree otherwise we are going to be here forever at this rate arguing was it a legit question or not. I'm satisfied it was, you feel otherwise. It won't stop me asking similar questions again in future if a similar situation arises.
i think so - NS is used to it but he's getting a bit precious
Not in your league on that score Dan. You also whinge about the NS not being biased enough towards Charlton.
Perhaps you should ask yourself which papers actually attend these pre-match press conferences? There is someone from Radio Kent, someone from the News Shopper and ..... well, that's it most of the time.
Where are all these other papers then? They don't bother going is the simple answer to that.
If the standard of questions being asked is this lamentably low then it's no wonder that they don't turn up.
The fact is that for the last few seasons every Thursday you post three news items in separate links which lead back to the NS official site. Doubtless this is good as it drives hits back to your newspaper and gives the impression that your articles are indispensable for Charlton fans in finding out news about their club. If in these troubled times for local media that keeps your paper alive and you in a job then all well and good, but the message is that we would like to see something a little bit more thorough and worthy of the name "journalism" than stirring up non-issues. There must be plenty of questions you ould ask Chris Powell all of which would be more illuminating and may well leadto a bit of genuine debate and discussion either here on in the response section under the article. I'm surprised that in your years of reporting on the club that you simply haven't figured this out yet - go back and check and you'll note that threads you start here die out after a few comments. Given that many other threads on CL rumble over into several pages that should give you a clue that your articles are considered rather weak and insubstantial. In other words try a little harder and aim to be a little bit more inventive otherwise you'll stay stuck in local journalism.

Tried to stay out of this. Don't think NS has done anything wrong and even the OS has run the same story about what Haynes and Powell said. Reaction from CL? Zero.
But after this stream of total bollocks from BFR I just had to say something.
Of course NS posts on here to get more hits. That's his job, he's never hidden that or pretended anything else. Other journos stay away because of poor questions? WTF. Journos are meant to go and ask their own questions not just rely on what NS asks.
NS's articles are sometimes very interesting and gives us direct access to post match and pre-match comments direct from CP. Sometimes little of interest is said. Either way they are a useful part of CL and I welcome them.
This has become a pathetic witch hunt. NS comes out of it very well for retaining his dignity and answering every question.
I look forward to reading his next match report and next week's presser report.

journalistic type clique - i don't have a problem with what he has said even if it is shit stirring, but as i say, that seems to be what journalism is about - particularly these days. But, to defend that tripe written about millwall fans attacking buses and trying to claim it could be read differently is an insult to anybodys intelligence. Other than that, i couldn't give two monkeys as i never read the news shopper or click on the link. Funny how upset NS has got though.
Some of you have made yourselves look really stupid here and unecessarily spiteful.
By all means take a journo to task on his article, that'd fair game. Getting personal and nasty isn't. The key guideline on here is to show fellow users a degree of respect. Please remember that always.
We allow NS to post links to his charlton articles on here. It suits him because it drives a huge amount of traffic to his articles the News Shopper would not get, and it suits us because it provides guaranteed Charlton content on here which isn't always the case.
We decide who or what is posted on here. Not BFR, not HI and not NS. If you don't want to read NS links, don't click on them, and if you can't reply without being nasty, the don't reply.

So sometimes "very interesting" means quite often boring, predictable and dull.
As I recall your attempts at journalism weren't that much better...
Newshopper I think the reaction towards you has been over the top, you happened to be a convenient fall guy, but if you do an article about how incensed some fans were at the idea BWP was bood it would address the real anger posters have felt. The record needs correcting, how about it, you might even get some apologies.

Good luck with finding someone who heard Charlton fans booing. Nobody is angry at charlton fans booing. Because it never happened
