I can see what happened. Somebody from this dreadful gutter rag has suggested that BWP is getting abuse , forcing Powell to comment , despite the fact that the fans are 100% behind him. A non story created by a second rate reporter.

It was Danny Haynes who mentioned it on Tuesday, all I did was ask for Chris Powell's views on what Haynes had said so a totally legit question. And if you read again it says a small minority of supporters have been giving BWP stick, not everyone.
He comes in for a bit of stick from certain fans around me in the East Stand, most of it seems to revolve around him always being caught offside as he ambles back from an attack that has broken down.
I sit just past the half way line so its pretty easy to spot as we are in line with him.

My Saints supporting friend told me their song for him swapped out 'He's better than Shaun' for 'he's always offside'. When we signed him the first thing he mentioned was that he'd be offside forever for us. Hasn't been anywhere near as much as I thought though
BWP is keeping Haynes out of the team at the moment so whatever Haynes has said is superficial guff at best, if unprovoked. Of course he can't say it but i'd imagine he'd really love BWP to be booed remorselessly off the pitch.
If the odd barely audible sigh is flak then he has been given some.
Reality is, this is a non story.
Cant wait for Matt Fricker's "all charlton fans should die" column to jump on the bandwagon.
Leave Matt Fricker out of this please Clem - any stick about this story I will take thanks. Like I said before though it was a legit question I asked CP based on what Danny Haynes had to say on the matter after Tuesday's game.

Since you were defending Matt Fricker I don't see why any criticism of his articles should be deemed out of bounds.
some fans are always going to get frustrated when their strikers are not scoring or show a lack of desire to get back onside. however he will start scoring again soon i'm sure and he will be a hero again and him being needlessly offside every now and again will be ignored. but on the whole the fans have been right behind all the way through this goal drought. the old saying of 'just needs one to go in off his arse or something' and the bwp that we enjoyed so much in the first half we will back.

Please don't rise to the bait - our resident hack has invented a non-story and somehow managed to blow it up into a news item and then thoughtfully has chosen to share it with us.
And Powell today echoed the sentiment by saying: “If they want to moan and boo, obviously it is up to our fans what they do when they come into the ground. "
I'd be interested to know if this is an accurate quote. If it is, I'd like to know when he has heard fans booing BWP.
Not heard any booing home or away, just great support for BWP. We all have the odd groan or moan to people sitting around us, who doesn't but i think the support for BWP has been terrific, we are all as desperate as he his to see him get a goal and the celebrations when he does will be fantastic, lets just hope it's sooner rather than later and better still it's a winning one
News Shopper you say earlier it was a 'legitimate question'. Now freedom of speech and all that, but of all the interesting questions that could've been asked in the time available, asking Powell to follow up a slight remark by Haynes was the best use of the journalists time and energy was it? In the 'public interest' was it? Or could it have been 'legitimate' because it was a bit of chite stirring to give a poor journalist a non-existent story, and it may have legitimised the journalists job? If questions about players were appropriate there are a string of better ones such as keeping a large squad happy, or the Waggy dilemma, or how Hayes and Hughes or Russel feel about not making even the bench. Nah, the BWP line was thrown in to stir up disharmony where none exists.
Ridiculous story. Can only think the flak is on twitter or whatever 'cause it certainly hasn't been at the games. BWP got collective sighs when he made some silly mistakes; As did JJ, Solly, Green, Wiggins etc etc. other than repeatedly singing his name and giving him a standing ovation when he was subbed, not sure what else we can do?
Might as well make the story "Team doesn't deserve flak" .
Re bwp strolling back and being offside. Being a striker myself playing even if it is Sunday league, i find it useful when my strike partner strolls back from an offside position. Defence are facing their own goal and don't react as quick because they don't see me bombing it through on goal only to spoon the ball over from 6 yards.

the guy hasn't scored since November yet still has his name sung multiple times every game.
Personally i think 'the fans' has been greatly supportive.

Email address of the writer of this story. Perhaps we should give him some flak?

Unless Haynes has been misquoted by the reporter Sunni Upal.
BWP doesn't know he's born if he thinks he gets flak

You can file this under "slow week for news".

(I haven't read the article yet!)
