Agree with you, Seth, but if Powell's reaction had been "Get off it, our fans have been nothing but totally supportive of BWP and I've never heard any booing directed towards him" there would have been even less of a story. Perhaps that is what he did say, in which case NewShopper is lying and Powell could demand an apology.
News Shopper you say earlier it was a 'legitimate question'. Now freedom of speech and all that, but of all the interesting questions that could've been asked in the time available, asking Powell to follow up a slight remark by Haynes was the best use of the journalists time and energy was it? In the 'public interest' was it? Or could it have been 'legitimate' because it was a bit of chite stirring to give a poor journalist a non-existent story, and it may have legitimised the journalists job? If questions about players were appropriate there are a string of better ones such as keeping a large squad happy, or the Waggy dilemma, or how Hayes and Hughes or Russel feel about not making even the bench. Nah, the BWP line was thrown in to stir up disharmony where none exists.
All fair points and I would point out as well those questions about keeping a large squad happy and the Waggy dilemma have been asked before so can't really be raised every week. The reason the BWP point was raised today was because of what Danny Haynes said the other night about it. I've read all the comments on here questioning my motives for raising it but that is the only reason. If you don't believe me that is not a problem to me, you are entitled to your opinions.

Lets see shall we. Maybe the newshoppers people made an audio recording of the interview which they couls put unedited on tinternet.
it annoys me, recently he has really started to put the effort in but its just not going right for him, what winds me up is that he could work his socks off all game but as soon as he makes a mistake a minority of people get straight on his back.
And Powell today echoed the sentiment by saying: “If they want to moan and boo, obviously it is up to our fans what they do when they come into the ground. "
I'd be interested to know if this is an accurate quote. If it is, I'd like to know when he has heard fans booing BWP.
Happy to clarify that Nadou. When I asked CP he wasn't aware of any boos but when I pointed out this was what Danny Haynes had mentioned the other day he was happy to answer the question. There is no misquote.
Our front line has been downhill ever since we let Marcus Bent leave..........................
Boo all the rest.
See, we can all write crap if we put our minds to it.
I heard one supporter on tuesday saying that Kermogant doesn't score enough goals to warrant a starting place as a forward. One idiot supporter is a minority, so feel ya boots on that scoop.
newshopper, I heard a supporter saying that Jackson is crap at penalties, and that the job should be given to Hamer, will you ask Powell to comment on that comment please?

Instead of asking these non-questions why not spend some time thinking up a few questions about tactics, or how Charlton will play against an opposition player who's in good form or something which demonstrates that you are a) sentient and b) able to hold down a conversation about football? Maybe that would make for a more interesting article than bollocks about whether someone in row F, seat 245 of the North Upper quadrant is dissatisfied about BWP's recent goal scoring returns? Or perhaps that's too much like hard work?
This is the best season we've had in years, we're leading the division by a country mile and may even secure promotion before the clocks go forward and yet you have to ask this rubbish? I'm genuinely interested in your thought processes here, or is asking provocative shit-stirring questions what you have been told to write?
DANNY Haynes is asking people to lay off fellow striker Bradley Wright-Phillips is the opening line from yesterdays interview with Haynes.
Did Danny Haynes actually say " Lay Off Bradley Wright Phillips" ? I have looked at the article today and the one with Haynes himself and i still cant find the bit where he says "Lay off" to the fans . I cant find any mention of Booing either so where did Chris Powell get that information other than person asking the question?
It's just frustrating NS that perceived negativity gets unfairly highlighted and headlined at a time when things are going well.
A related and more accurate question could have been asked "BWP is clearly going through a lean spell at the moment, which all strikers do. It must be reassuring for him and you that the vast majority of supporters are clearly still behind him and continue to sing his name every game".
Powell then gets to say something supportive for the player, praising of the supporters, and you still get your quotes for copy.
I read the thread before the article and was expecting some hyped up exaggeration - but it seems pretty balanced - highlights the fact that the moans are generaly mild and only from a few fans. The fact that it is a few doesn't undermine the logic of publishing such an article and reflects a legitimate issue (discussed on here at length already) when a striker has gone off the boil and is (in my opinion) wrongly getting flak. If you want to crucify a journalist at least find something worth the nails

No ?
Too easy. "build em up to knock em down" is the policy most rags have stuck with over the years.............
AFKA - there is nothing wrong with posing the question that way and in fairness to CP if you read his response it is 100% supportive of BWP so the outcome was still the same.

He might be supportive of him but you've put the idea to him that the crowd aren't.

But it's not positive on the fans is it? How about a report on our attendances compared to other teams in higher leagues in South London ?
No wonder the news shopper is given away free, the genuine reader wouldn't actually pay someone to write 'legitimate' stories like the legitimate non story that heads this thread. Is the news shopper any good, does it have credible journalists?

Nah.
NS posts his articles on here to drive hits, and fully accepts that if people disagree them, they'll say so and discuss it.
But don't take it too far though, nastiness is not necessary.
