Looking at that old picture of Keithy Peacock, the new shirt would definitely look better with a white collar
That's what's missing! I kept thinking there was something missing (other than the sponsor), there aren't any white bits.
Since 1931 almost all of our shirts have had white either on the collar or the sleeves. Look here: http://historicalkits.co.uk/Charlton_Athletic/Charlton_Athletic.htm

Maybe that's why, for me, this shirt feels almost unfinished.
  • You have to remember that this is out of a catalogue. They only do one shade of red. They can't change the collar size/colour etc. They have thousands of these in a warehouse, and all they do is have the team's badge sewn on and sponsor heat transferred on, just like any name and number printing on the back.
  • This is a full picture of the kit with socks (credit to Seb Lewis for the pic)
  • It is just so dull but I agree that a white collar would've made a big difference.
  • Apart from it being the wrong red I like it. Simple and understated gives it some class. C
    an't go wrong with that.
  • It looks like the kit we had for the return to the Valley
  • It's no where near as arsenals off red kit!
  • It's the wrong colour, would prefer Macrom to this.
The club know this, it will be 'Charlton red' by the time it makes the store.
If this is the case, then why show the one in reception?
I don't like the dark red, it looks like the Arsenal kit from the other year when they changed back to the colour worn by them, when they played this side of the river.
Now it could be that this was the colour that the young lads of Charlton first had in 1905, as they got their tops from a shop in Woolwich.
It could be this, or it could be that it's a sample from the supplier and the final produced version will be, as I say, in a different shade of red. I know 90% of stuff on here is made up crap, but this isn't.
  • I, for one, can't wait to get my hands on one of these shirts. I'll be preordering it as soon as they allow us to, plus a new sheatshirt or track suit top.
  • Gutted!

  • i almost dont care what it is as long as its red! And the one on display wasnt red!!!
  • It would well be a sample - seeing as the shorts dont have a badge or anything else other than the tick ( could be thinking too much about it )
  • The shorts do have a badge.
  • Oh yeh , just seen it - it's a nice kit though , would be nice to have a white Brand sponsor
  • I still say it is red.

  • It's amazing what a sponsor, and eventually the sleeve badges and name and numbers on the backs can do for a 'boring shirt'
  • The red isnt that different to the mesh shirt.

I went into reception after taking this and they are similar... the window was tinted however so could explain a bit.
  • That looks like a good photshop to me

Thank you Mark, had a few bad comments about my photoshop skills on this thread, so I appreciate a compliment!

    Educated guess is all.

  • It does look a lot better with the sponsors on the shirt !
  • Those gold badges will help.
  • Tad better. Still looks like something a darts player would wear.

Only if the supporters were wearing them.

The Charlton team is full of lean mean fighting machines.

  • Disappointed but then again with Nike you expect something out of a catalogue.

@Nug you're designs were way better.
  • @nug would you be able to upload the shirt with ' les bordes ' on it
    Thanks
