How much do the bromley addicks meetings cost where you get to meet players/managers/directors etc, just as a comparison point?
Also I'd be interested to know more about the "quality" of the photos, as being a photographer I can produce prints on archive paper for very low amounts. Is it 16 inches by 12 inches (cost prob about £8) of centimetres in which case you're looking at about 50p.
The Bromley meetings cost nothing other than you are asked 'voluntarily' to join, which I believe is a very reasonable £5.00 a year...........there is also a concession price I believe for kids and over 60's. For that fee you can attend all meetings throughout the season and they are without doubt the best 'question and answer' Addicks meetings I have been to over the years. Ben, please correct me if I'm wrong on any of these points.

No need Stu, you are quite correct and often the meetings are open to non-members anyway.
I would say however that these are different events from the Evening with Clive Mendonca and with a different aim so not totally comparable.
There are many events such as the Clive Mendonca evening advertised so there clearly is a market for them. Good luck to Steve and Clive and I hope anyone who makes it along has a great time.
I don't understand why people have to post a negative comments on here - very sad. I mean, nobody is being forced to go and Clive obviously needs a bit of support and his mate is helping him out which is very noble. The play offs final was a special day and I'm sure the event will be worth every penny. If you want to support him or simply if the evening appeals go and if you don't, avoid the thread. Sometimes the odd adage, 'If you can't say something positive, don't say anything at all' is very apt. I think Steve Jones and Clive deserve a little more respect, even if the negativity is only from one or two.
One think I'd love to see is a video of the match with Super Clive, Steve and any other player butting in with their recollections and feelings at suitable points. It would help relive what was probably my best ever football day and to be honest, I doubt there will be a better one!
Can't go, but all the best with it. You and Clive and the rest of the team that year gave me and my family one of the best days of our lives, certainly the best football related day.
I'd pay the £20 happily if I could go but unfortunately I can't besides I already have @stevejones autograph about 50 times as I had a mega crush back in my single days lol. Clive gave us Charlton fans the very special gift of wonderful memories, it's greatthose that want to give something back to him. Best of luck Steve, I hope it is great success and that the funds he needs are raised.
I am glad this discussion has turned around; so, other meetings are free but as Henry says this is different and I look forward to going and hopefully see other heroes of that unforgettable day. It is also to say thanks to CM who sadly didn't have that real opportunity to leave as he surely would have liked, having suffered that long term back injury and, if I remember rightly, left by way of an insignificant substitution on a Tuesday night at the Valley. (correction please). This got me thinking how other great players in our history also left the pitch at the time quite unobtrusively, never to play for us again?

He left via a benefit match (aganist a Dutch team) either in 2003 or 2004
I hope I'm not speaking out of turn, but a couple of years ago I'm sure I remember Steve Jones was also in a position where he had to sell his own momentoes.
In which case, I think it's great that he's helping Clive right now.
Seen a couple of folk suggesting that these guys are rich footballers with little comprehension of the man on the terrace. Nothing could be further from the truth...both are struggling to make a living and for differing reasons both are 'far' from wealthy men. I've done a bit of business with Steve myself and he was (and maybe still is) in a very tough competitve business which in these hard times I suspect is not fairing too well. Good luck in their venture......I went to one of their do's in a pub in Plumstead a year or so back, so wont be attending this time round but the very best of luck to you guys and I hope it's a resounding success.
I always remember seeing Sir Clive arrive at The Valley before our first Premier League home game vs Southampton. He was in a blue Ford Escort that would have been at least 5 or 6 years old, probably older. I have no idea what we were paying players back then or if they got pay rises after the Premiership season (doubtful as we got relegated) but if his motor was anything to go by Super Clive was far from super rich and it's worth remembering, that whilst they were both heroes in a successful time, both Sir Clive and Stevie Jones missed out on the lucrative prolonged run in the Premiership.
Sadly players like Amdy Faye probably took more money out of the club than these two.

Indeed what a very good point. In fact I'll go a step further and say added together what they took out of their time at The Valley wouldn't add up to what Faye (and a few others like him) took from us. What lousy justice.
Thanks Steve and Clive for all you have done for cafc- in my eyes you will always be legends. Can't make the night but hope it goes well for you. Shame in a way that you just missed out on the huge money that football now has because you guys deserve it.
I doubt an 'Evening with Marcus Bent' would see many tickets.
Marcus would turn up take the ticket money and be excellent for the first 5 minutes after which he would lose interest and stop answering questions and leave . . .He would then move on to another question and answer session run by another club.
yes there will be 3 differant images to buy and get signed later that evening, they are super photos!! and of course photos later! the platnium gives you half hour to hour with clive as later it could be manic lol

If I remember it was £20 ticket? 16x12 prints (3 diff prints) £10
It was great evening!!
Plus Andy Ansah turned up which was a bonus!
Thanks for the response, glad to know there's a nice pic with it.
