For those wondering about the 28th, I heard it this morning if you don't want to take it as gospel fine just wait, some people on here know that I have fairly good contacts. That what I was told not saying its not going to change but that's the preferred date.
Too late Bourneaddick - people have already rearranged their lives around that date now. They'll be coming to you cor compensation if you're wrong! ;o)
A group on 20ish Charlton fans spotted walking from Chesterfield train station earlier. They looked happy enough with an whole day's drinking ahead of them.
Knew that it was only 50/50 that the game would be on, but wanted to go, so we set off. That nice Mr Irving 'phoned to say it was off just as we pulled into Toddington. Had a half decent breakfast and turned round. No one is to blame and 5 hours advanced warning was sufficient - I think everyone who had set off had taken a gamble it would be on.
Hotel was warned and have not charged us. The only loss was a quarter of a tank of deisel, so no real hardship and able to settle down in the warm to watch the egg chasers instead.
I had a bit of an epic journey from Scotland planned.I was at first more worried that the trains would be goosed due to the weather as I had some pretty tight time margins when changing.I decided not to go last night, used my "local" knowledge of working there last winter coupled to a phone call to a mate who is still working there and I took his word. Then went to plan B day in local only to find it has closed, tennents did a midnight flit! Need a plan C.....
I hope its not the 28th because I have a work commitment the next morning which I can't get out of and would imagine Charlton would not want it that night either because an 18 man squad (2 extra above the 16 ) would need to travel although I suspect that the Dartford game would get rearranged to accomodate this .
Kent Senior Cup game is scheduled for 28th March - not February.
One good thing to come out of this is we have a **NEW** official unique excuse for having smaller away numbers compared to other similar sized clubs ......
It's a joke btw to the easily offended touchy community amongst you
Chesterfield are a joke club, should have been an 8.30 inspection knowing how far Charlton fans would have to travel & given forecasts yesterday. They deserve to go down!
As previously said didn't affect me, but the difference between London clubs and any others are our fares are from the central terminals. So if it isn't called off early enough the non-zone fans lose pre-booked fares plus around a tenner on the day for their fare into London.
The main criticism to be made in my opinion is that given the weather forecast the home club and the referee should have made arrangements for an early morning inspection. I understand Chesterfield expected it to be off well before the referee turned up and well after 9am they were struggling to contact the referee at all.
Fair enough to wait and see what happens overnight - a bit shabby to leave it to drift until past 10am given the numbers travelling from the south, when the outcome was there to be anticipated days in advance. Why wasn't the ref - or a ref - on site at 8.30-9am. Presumably because nobody was bothered enough to arrange it.

This.
Maybe Chesterfield did arrange it but the ref didn't show up on time?
I remember that being alleged (by CAFC) after the Boxing Day D'Urso fiasco at The Valley.
It may have been said here already but I'm thinking the cancelled fixtures may suit Charlton. We are a footballing side so suspect it may be in our interests to play on improved softer pitches to enable us to play our football rather than the lottery of battling the elements. These conditions would surely be better suited to the more hardened physical sides. Also with a larger and more competent squad can deal with a fixture pile up far more than most other clubs.

Will be going to the rearranged game for sure.
I think it will be the 28th.
