Swann bowls Rehman with his first ball. Not sure why Panesar has bowled twice as many overs as him ?

get them for around 300 and a couple of centuries will hopefully lead us to 425ish

yer would say we have the slight edge but were not batting well so who knows

Another p*** poor batting display like last time will show up the policy of having your top six set in stone.

Another p*** poor batting display like last time will show up the policy of having your top six set in stone.

In the last few years that top six has outbatted India, Sri Lanka, Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and held their own against South Africa the last time we played them. They have earned the right to be automatic selections.

I would like to see two or three other batsmen breathing down the necks of these six.At any level there has to competition for places.

There are quite a few players breathing down the necks of the established batting line-up, Ravi Bopara may get a Test in the near future if Morgan doesn't turn that promise into runs. With the bowlers Tremlett, Bresnan and Finn are realistically chasing one place, while Monty Panesar and Graeme Swann are contesting one spin bowling place.

Sorry I meant more on the batsmen front, the bowlers are great competition for places seems to work there. The batsmen however dont. Bopara is nailed on to get a go if a top six dropped/injured and he is a bit hit and miss. You can tellits a batsmans game when the attack gets picked on a horses for courses basis where the top six get picked on an Aussie strip an English seamer or an Asian burner where as Id like to see the batsmen working to a similar formula, picking the better players that like the conditions.

    Morgan, promise? What promise?
I'll promise you one thing, he is NOT a Test player.
  • Options
Agree on that one Chirpy, Morgan is a very fragile player against decent Test bowling.

Bopara deserves a chance at number six, although I have doubts about him too.

Losing wickets now 166-1 becomes 203-4. Need another partnership to push us past 400...
  • Options
KP out too now after another "failure" (14). The boy just can't play spin.

    203-4. Lead in the balance.
  • Options
Why do most of our batsmen play spinners from the crease? Use your feet when the time is right, hit through the line and those close fielders will soon scatter.
  • Options
    And Morgan out now 207-5.
