  • What does that make the total figure roughly including 2k Stevenage?
  • Airman - will the club be laying on more staff to deal with the increase in custom? Bartrams and the bars inside the ground already have massive queues when we only have 13,000 crowd, if we are expecting 20,000 how many more staff wil there be?
We don't want to put potential new / returning fans off before they've even started.
Happily, not my area or anything I can influence. But the club has no interest in people not being served.
I appreciate you don't work on this side but it does have an affect on the Target 40k initiatives. People's match-day experience affects how likely they are to return. There's no point getting 100s more through the door if they all go away disappointed.

Add 10k for other home support, but we cannot give Stevenage 2k because of the way we have to set the stand up if we are allowed to segregate it.
  • What does that make the total figure roughly including 2k Stevenage?
stevenage have sold 1200. 9,500 st holders. 500 comps. 7265 normal sales.

    i estimate around 18500

Don't totally disagree with you, because there is an issue of the overall experience. But I have to say I wouldn't decide whether I went to a football match because I couldn't get a pint or a pie. Or because there was an opera singer!

All I meant is that these are matters for other people.
  • With over a week to go plus match day sales, it's looking good.

    7,360 sold - 612 today.

Compares with Chesterfield 3,020, Exeter 4,284 at the same stage.

Having crunched all the numbers, I make the current gate 18,873.

    Which is decent in itself.

If the weather is good could go over £25k

Big question: are the higher early sales the same people as before buying early or are they part of a higher total sale. I would go for a bit of both but more towards the latter.

  • Unless Airman says differently, I suspect that the running costs for the day are pretty fixed, regardless of the size of the crowd. If that is the case, each extra bum on seat is additional income. Now there will always be a 'walk-up' on the day who will pay full price and the £5 reduces that particular element of profit but as the offer means that we will have a (possibly) sell-out crowd, the club will have made a significant profit on the exercise. At the same time we will have a great atmosphere for the final 'top six' home clash. I think our marketing department have, yet again, done a superb job.

18,873 is a fantastic crowd against anyone in the 3rd division! To have that total a week before the game just shows where we really are right now!

Brilliant support, let`s sell it out and show our players what they can expect in the future if and when we go up through the divisions!

I bet there are a few premier league clubs who would love that attendance!
  • Just out of interest,am I right in thinking clubs have to pay for policing? Its just to me it seems a bit strange as you would of thought anywhere where there are thousands of people it would be a free service as there is guaranteed to be the odd problem.
  • I pick 2 up today , me and my eight year old daughter , east stand .

I think in the ground we have to pay the policing but once they step foot off the premises it's tax payers money

Closer to the truth would be the other way round - once they set foot on the premises we pay for them. However, there are exceptions in which we have to pay more. Friendlies are full cost recovery. Short notice rearrangements can be another special case.

    7,690 sold.

  • They'll be more police than STs in the ground on Tuesday night.

    Just kidding.

I'm told that the overall attendance for #FootballforaFiver is just about to break through the 20,000 barrier... (MW) #cafc
  • Reckon it'll be a sell out then?
  • Hi there,

Stevenage fan here - being reading this thread with interest. Would be closer to a sell out if you could send us some more tickets - seems a lot of regulars haven't got tickets, as they weren't expecting them to sell out in advance, was expecting to just be able to buy them on the day assuming we were getting the full 3,000. When we found out it was likely we'd only get 1,200 they sold out in a day and an hour! Reckon we could easily sell over 2,000 for this if made available.

I'msure the club said that if you sell the original allocation, then more will be issued. As far as regular travellers not getting tickets there is something wrong there surely there should be some sort of priority system? But that is down to your end...

Anyway I hope you do get more and they are sold well, best of luck.
  • They might only get a few hundred more as it looks like the Jimmy Seed could be segregated if ticket sales carry on as they are!
  • Buying 5 or so tomorrow before the game.
Better not be any glory hunters in my seat! ;)
  • The only reason the Jimmy Seed is being sold to home fans is surely because we expect the rest of the ground ot sell-out otherwise it wouldn't have been worth restricting Stevenage?

Don't we normally restrict away fans anyway considering they are not normally allowed the upper seats?
  • @airmanbrown - Is it possible for an adult to use a junior season ticket at the turnstiles on Saturday or will I have to physically exchange it for a ticket? My son can't make it and I want to bring a friend...Cheers

I guess (from your earlier comments) that means we have just hit the 20,000 overall mark?
