The Stevenage site says that they've sold over 800 and have about 400 left. You'd expect them to shift that lot at a fiver a go, leaving a part of the South Stand for our supporters. Hopefully the Charlton contingent will last longer than against Chesterfield
Got 5 in the north lower going up with all Charlton fans, given up my usual seat in the West Stand to a family friend because all the seats around mine and my family have been sold. COYR
In North Upper only selling seats in Block N. This might Have been mentioned earlier up the thread. Going to take a punt and reckon this will be very close to a sell out. Crowd of 26,000 upwards
I got 14 the other day, plus another one I got a couple of weeks ago. So 15 family members going, mostly due to the annual tribute as my nan and grandad past away in the last few months of last year. The £5 pound offer is just a bonus.
I am really hoping we sell out the home end, would be fantastic!
although i enjoy bigger crowds at the valley and i understand the hard work goes into these types of promotions i cant help but feel that the main aim of getting bums on seats on a regular basis hasn't worked. i dont mean to be negative but the crowds were way down against bury and apart from the sheff utd game the gates haven't really improved. the team that deal with these occasions do an excellent job but ultimately in my opinion only the team on the pitch playing at a higher level will raise average attendance. i'm certain it will be a great day and should be a a good game against a "competitive" stevenage team so i'll enjoy it anyway.

it's simple economics i think Dave. Football is just too expensive for a lot of people.

i hope if promotion is gained attendences will rise if prices dont. or is that wishfull thinking?

I think they have improved a bit. Bury and MK Dons were both midweek fixtures (the latter on Valentine's Day, and the former on an effing cold night).
We got 17,500ish against Preston, and 19,500 against Oldham before Xmas I believe, neither of those brought big away followings, and 17,500 against Brentford on the last day before going back to work after Xmas. All things considered I think we have dragged our average home turnout up to around 15,000, which is decent for this level. Obviously our good form has a lot to do with that but I think the offers make a difference. I know people who came to Chesterfield who then came to a few more this year, it just gets some of those lapsed fans back in the habit a bit.
Our home followings are decent and depending on how well / badly next year goes (presuming we are in the championship), I think we could reasonably expect to be averaging 18,000ish and towards 20k.
The home crowds are bound to ease up a bit as, regardless of how we are doing, third division football is a turn off for many people. In addition, we should automatically add an average of 1,000 plus per game in respect of away fans. Apart from the additional money, it all adds to the atmosphere and makes the games feel more of an event.
The offer allowed me to bring some friends along and because of this, one has got a shirt (£40 quid) and us getting a season ticket tomorrow (£375)....so I guess even if a small percentage did this, the club will make more money and get bums on seats

Shame about our away followings though.
fair enough theres some good points there. away following will be poor tomorrow but i think this will be our worst turnout of our run in. i'm going though.
So Stevenage's official website has confirmed that their 1200 tickets have sold it. Apparently 800 sold and then 400 within an hour this morning. Sounds like they are in high demand despite their low home crowds. They have said they've requested more so looks like they could be bringing close to 2,000 which could help it be a near sell out.

If I lived in a dump like Stevenage I'd take every opportunity to see civilisation I could so a trip to the Royal Borough of Greenwich should be like a peek into paradise for them.
Airman - will the club be laying on more staff to deal with the increase in custom? Bartrams and the bars inside the ground already have massive queues when we only have 13,000 crowd, if we are expecting 20,000 how many more staff wil there be? We don't want to put potential new / returning fans off before they've even started.
Personally, I think the Football for a Fiver promotion is a very positive thing.
Just look how regular fans are buzzing, tickets being bought for family and friends, etc.
There's a head of steam building here, real momentum coupled with results, and a feeling of resurgence.
It's all good - and the club should be congratulated on it's initiative.
Exactly, it's a lost leader (thought we don't lose money on these game).
Get new people in, gets old fans back to the Valley, creates a buzz in the stadium and around football generally when people see the crowd figures and maybe even impresses the Mysterons.
A few will buy a ST but a few more will come back at full price and, with luck, even more will come back next season in the Championship.

I think your expectations for follow-through sales are too high, especially for the midweek games. You'd only see an improvement in those gates if you were converting from zero to regular. If returning or new fans are picking their games, then on the whole they won't pick those.
I have a lot of data about ticket sales and what sits underneath the announced attendance, as Henry can confirm. Full price ticket sales for Saturday games have been steadily climbing since the start of the season. Clearly better results and increased anticipation of same are a big factor. What we aim to do is play into that. But the promotions also make money.
Experience tells us that short of signing a former European Footballer of the Year - a strategy we also tried some years ago - you don't transform attendances in the short term. It's about incremental change. You show people how to come and what to do and when the time is right for them they will get on board.

Happily, not my area or anything I can influence. But the club has no interest in people not being served.

Yep I can confirm that. 9 pages of notes and spreadsheets for the last T40k meeting and the Airman didn't even pitch up ;- )

Will we give Stevenage anymore at present? Don't want too many of them in there is there's demand to seat home fans in the Jimmy Seed
