Now I like the proper charlton fan that you see at every game home and away, and I also like those new faces that you see on their first away game. But which one is better? There is only one way to find out..........FIGHT!!!!!
First time since Spurs last year im going and dont really care about the result. Course i want us to win but its a jolly up and looking forward to the day rather than having the anxiousness of a normal matchday.
so im looking forward to holding up our "family club" reputation by punching out a few of my own clubs fans... starting with CrayAddick!!!
I'll slap you silly with my season ticket wallet and then choke you with my on sale scarf. Then I'll throw you on the pitch and Andy Johnson can show you how to dive like a real clown
I've decided punching is not harsh enough and will not learn people. Instead in going to have a big sign that has 'Palace Ultra' in big letters and an arrow pointing to said standing person! Be warned.
Plastic and a gloryboy, it just gets better! I didnt go to Halifax or Hartlepool so I must be both...the thought of following Charlton for glory is not something I have ever considered. We are the fans that saved our club, few (and there are a few Brighton etc) can say that, were getting cracking gates at home in an appauling League and have a genuinely good reputation up and down the country with supporters of other clubs for being real, in my early 20's I travelled everywhere with this club, never for glory and when our Selhust crowds were down to 7,000. Well done to all those who dont miss a game, if you have done it for the last 20 plus years without a break I salute you and sorry for being such a glory boy in all your eyes. Now lets just have a great day saturday no matter how many we take.
Yes I'm with you here, used to go to the valley with my Dad in the 70's when crowds often only 4 or 5 thousand, crap football, lower league stuff but absolutely loved it .... When I hit my late teens I used to travel all over and was a regular at Selhurst and West Ham and used to drag my non supporting mates along against their will and still do some 20 odd years later ..... Was at Wembley in 1987 for full members cup final and about as near to glory I have ever been, but the clubs in my blood. Live on Isle of Wight now for 20 years and try to get up as often as I can but is a 12 hour round trip for a home game and in excess of £200 for tickets and travel which I can barely afford, so if wanting to join in the great atmosphere of 7000 happy smiling Charlton fans like me makes me a glory boy then give me the badge ...... Trust me travelling back from the north of England to the isle of wight on your own after a thumping somewhere or other would by some not be considered the best way to spend a day out, but done plenty of times ..... AND I LOVE IT, can't wait for tomorrow, despite my getting up at 6am :-(
Apart from more CAFC in-fighting and moaning, I'm personally looking forward to us putting in a great performance, but everything going against us, just unable to score, and 'A.J' scoring at our end in the 96th minute of added time and cupping his ears to the crowd....
Well as a bone fida gory hunter, making a 800 mile round trip from a small town outside Glasgow, I can't wait for the game. I know the words to Valley Floyd Road and chant them at the telly every Sat night but can't help thinking my accent will be found out at Carlisle, Hartlepool, etc. Am I a glory hunter? Well this season yes because, well... we are top of the league. Don't rain on the parade of 7 (count them) thousand people who choose to support CAFC just becaise it's glamorous ( convenient?) Celebrate the fact that SCP has helped bring belief!! Slighltly squiffy so see you there later!! COYR!!

I hate that celebration! He has to be jeered every time he touches the ball!
I have to say that I am unexcited about this one. I think it is disruptive. If we win or lose by a small margin, then fine, but the other options are not good. A draw means an extra game between the Sheffield games and a big defeat would be bad news. Fulham are a decent side and should win comfortably unless they field a very weak side or don't turn up to compete. Even a win is dangerous, in my view, as it can cause a distraction (maybe, we will draw a big team on Monday). Arguably, the two most important games of the season are coming up. If we lose both, promotion will be a whole lot tougher; if we get two good results (or even one), we will be making another big step in the right direction. I'd settle for a boring game losing 1-0, to be honest, with no bookings and no injuries.

Have to say that I agree with this 100%. Look what happened to Leeds 2 years ago. I will be quite happy to see us lose this game.
All due respect neither of you are excited about this one because your thousands of miles away. As one of the 7000 fans going today , I see it as a break fom the league and match against a premier league side which we aren't expected to win. So no pressure on us a great day out for the fans. You never know the magic of the cup might just happen at Craven Cottage today !

Indeed, took me 3-4 hrs to get to sleep I was so excited about today. COYR
I think anyone who is going is a little teeny weeny bit excited about being part of such a huge away following no matter how serious/focused we would like to appear....lets just have a great day out

I am actually in the UK at the moment although I cannot get to today's game, but I am genuinely not that disappointed about missing it. Sure, I'll be pressing F5 to check the score though.
However, I am heading to Sheff Wed next week - and can't wait for the game!
I understand what Pete and Thai are saying. I'm looking forward to the day out with mates but I have this niggling thought in the back of my head that 4/5 years ago we were level/better than Fulham and now we're all excited about a 'big day out'.
So fed up with the lower leagues and I want to get this season out of the way with the end result of promotion, don't want stuff getting in the way.
Will be anticipating more and looking forward to Wednesday game next week.
I'm not going to have a go at people because they won't (or can't) stand. But I urge everyone to make as much noise as possible to give these lads what they deserve after the effort theve put in this year. COYR!

If you feel so strongly about standing (which incidentally I too think we should have) get involved:

As it stands (pun intended) there is no choice so show some solidarity and sit.
That's all I have to say.

Owwwh the romance!
