I doubt it mate like I said on that thread it is ludicrous that in pubs up and down our great country there will be folks defending the rights of those sorts of people whilst screaming blue murder at the way some chavy feckas act in the day to day world , to me the morale compass is unbalanced in some ,
But that debate can never take place on here as it would end in a slanging match
Thats My point: after last Thursdays "Arrests" of 9 "CAFC" supporters some people said "They're innocent til proven guilty". Is lee hughes not in the same position ?
Brings shame on the club when a player does something like this, so i feel for County fans. I remember when Bowyer was done for racist assault, i was very sad for our reputation.
the bowyer/woodgate incident was long after he left us wasn't it? You mean when he was caught smoking a spliff with another academy player?
Thats what I thought, although not sure when the McDonalds incident was, that may have been while he was with us.
The McDonalds thing was when he was a kid at Charlton as was the drugs "offence" - although he was not caught "smoking a spliff with another player" he and Dean Chandler both failed a drugs test at the training ground.
The racist attack with Woodgate happened while they were both at Leeds.

You're right, it apparently took place in September 1996, a couple of months after he had left us for Leeds.
Common assault can only be heard at the magistrates court so why was he charged with an offence which goes to the Crown Court, only for the prosecution then to accept a plea to common assault? The penalty is the right one for (what appears to be a minor) common assault but why didn't the CPS charge common assault earlier on rather than wait until this late on?
i think that if released early from a sentance and you commit a crime for which you are found guilty within the first five years then you should be returned to prison to finish your originally sentance. Send the scumbag back where he belongs.

I actually thought that was the law, I've been watching too many tv programs.

He admitted a charge of common assault over an attack at the Aerodrome Hotel in Purley Way, Croydon, on 3 December.
A second charge of sexual assault, which Hughes denied, was dropped after prosecution lawyers at Croydon Crown Court offered no evidence.
Hughes, 36, of Waterside Way, Nottingham, was fined £500 and ordered to pay £120 in prosecution costs.
He was arrested after police were called to the hotel the night before his team's FA Cup match against Sutton United
£120 in prosecution costs? How long did the prosecution lawyer spend on the case, 10 minutes?
But if there's no evidence, then obviously the man cannot be charged.
Better to use lead.
