  • why do sexual assault allegations against footballers always seem to occur at a hotel?
  • Not for me to judge , let the courts decide.
  • Whatever the case may be here, he is still a scumbag.

  • Not really a thread to be making jokes on. Mate of mine was acused of rape by a total nut job met her in a pub back to hers, u can work out the rest 2 days later old bill at his door. Nearly lost his job and home. Turned out she had done it a few times. U have to be so careful these days.
  • poor man Adam what happened to the woman?
  • May I add that men also get raped and the statistics are very distorted as they are often too ashamed to report the crime to the police?
    Fellas get raped by women?
    Homosexual rape...
Oh id guessed that. I was just wondering, if they were women, who they were. Fatima Whitbread or Jodie Marsh type birds running around raping fellas
Hilarious, some men do get rapped by women.

As for the allegations, it's sexual assault, in front of people who have been evacuated after a fire drill and not rape. There would have been plenty of eye witnesses, which isn't always the case with rape.
  • May I add that men also get raped and the statistics are very distorted as they are often too ashamed to report the crime to the police?
There was a programme that bought this up 2 years or so ago, said it's a massive problem that rarely gets reported. Although if men are too ashamed to report it, why would they tell anyone, so not sure how this information was put together.

Because men will often belatedly seek help from agencies such as the Samaritans and Male Rape helplines. They may also contact HIV helplines. In my experience, the men concerned are adamant that they do not wish the police to be involved.

Obviously it isnt hilarious, i was just trying to work it out with the statistics etc.

I was going to make a joke about people being rapped rather than raped, but i get the feeling this is going to be a sensitive subject

  • Is that hotel really in Croydon?

Sounds like a bit of a suspect story to me.
I think it's on/near to the site where Croydon Airport used to be.

It is the old  airport terminal building.

The surrounding area is the site of the airport. The control tower is to the rear of this building which is listed and has been restored.

The hangars were knocked down for Costco to be built about 5 years ago.

(much more interesting than Lee Hughs)

  • i cant say i like this person at all in my view he should still be in prison for his previous crime/s

but he is innocent until proven guilty of an alleged crime reported in the SUN

It is but that's still a nice come back!
  • I don't really like Hughes much but he is innocent until proven guilty.
  • why do sexual assault allegations against footballers always seem to occur at a hotel?

Because they probably stay in hotels about 25 times a year for the away games ?

The majority of the other alleged assaults are in the night clubs :-(

  • I agree, innocent until proven guilty. However, in this case I'll make an exception. The scumbag should still be banged up so I'd send him straight back and avoid the cost involved of a trial etc.
  • You are inocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law and rightly so. The public are entitled to make their own minds up if they want to (unless tehy happen to me members of the jury).

Josef Stalin was never tried or found guilty of mass murder. Doesn't mean he was innocent of it or that I can't have an opinion that he was.

  • And dear Adolf wasn't a bad bloke at heart................according to his Mum
  • put my hand up a croydon girls skirt in 1988 and 14yrs later i ended up with nothing and child support......they get less for murder these days
  • Difficult to know what happened from the story and will be difficult to prove in court.  It seems that these storys rarely result in footballer convictions due to maliscous claims, insufficient evidence, victim pay off, attcking the character of victims.

if Hughes is guilty hopefully he is convicted and gets what is coming, but just because he is scum he should not be wrongfully convicted, in the same way that just because a girl that has a bit of a reputation it does not mean she cannot be a victim.

  • Deadred - interesting what you said about the make-up of your jury.  Years ago I was on a jury for a gang rape case.  The defendents' barristers tried very hard to get women and older men off the jury as they thought younger males would have much more empathy with their clients.  I think the final tally was 9 men and three women.  But, as you said, it was the women who had the "what if it was my son" attitude whereas the men were much, much less inclined towards that view.  In short, the laywers did their clients no favours whatsoever.
  • I know this isn't a thread about the jury system but its days have to be numbered I'm afraid. When we have lengthy cases collapsing because the juror is texting their boyfriend in the public gallery or doing homework on the defendent on Google it cannot continue much longer. Technology is going to make it impossible to ensure there's no prior knowledge and the costs involved in retrials alone justify it IMO.

Take for example the Lapland case that was thrown out recently at a cost of £100k+ to the local authority taking it. This is likely to result in 2-3 officers (friends of mine actually) losing their jobs through no fault of their own.

As for Hughes we'll just have to see. I suspect that it'll come to nothing in the end, but if it does he deserves a fair trial. Then they can find him guilty...

I'd be worried that at the very least he seems to have got himself in a situation where this could even be alledged the night before a game and presumably alcohol didn't play a part as it seems to in most of these cases.

  • Been following footy as long as i can remember and Hughes has to be the most hated despicable player that ever visited the valley.................worse than Diouf.

He is  a waste of space - he was fortunate when he came in to game and has abused everything he has been giving --basically he is one Orrible C**t - and even if he is Innocent of this crime he will still be one Orrible C**t ---I end my case.

  • Very bold of you to say that

Has Marlon King ever played at the Valley?

He merely has convictions for wounding, assault, sexual assault and a few less serious crimes including theft.

  • I don't like the bloke one little bit but I am all for innocent until proven guilty.
IF he is innocent then I will not hold anything against him on this case.
IF he is guilty then he is a sick and twisted man who shouldn't be allowed to play football again in his life.

I hope these are false allegations (for the females sake) but I won't be surprised if he is found guilty.
  • Can't stand the bloke and my opinion is that he should still be behind bars for previous but I'll reserve my judgement on this incident until I hear the facts or he's sentenced or charges are dropped.

Even if he is innoent agree with you ...should be locked up and then this sort of thing would not happen.

aaah. So that's where babies come from
  • Whether he's guilty or not it's funny how trouble just seems to follow some people around.
  • By the way, this is a message board, one that I doubt Lee Hughes, his lawyer, the CPS, judge or jury will be reading.

So why is everyone going on about innocent until proven guilty? Save it for the court.

If only you were so defensive of us next time we are reported to cause some trouble.....
